    I'm just saying, it came from Aliexpress. It's a cheap Chinese guitar. The reason people buy these is because they want something that looks passable and then they fix the rest. As a luthier, I love buying them.

      I'm an amateur builder. The shine (Star?) wears off, but I can't deny that i was a tech or repair luthier (and repair pays better than building unless you're George Wilson) - these things come in needing work and you get to know your customer.

    • @22z83
      @22z83 4 роки тому +5

      Yup. If you play high gain guitar it's gonna sound pretty much the same regardless of the guitar. With cleans the difference is really apparent. Also since guitar is essentially your interface to music it should play good at least imo

    • @Iheartdgd
      @Iheartdgd 4 роки тому +6

      Sort‘ve, it will definitely sound ‘better’, but it will also sound different between pickups. I don’t think people realize how big of a difference pickups can make, some people just blow it off because of some worthless comparison video they’ve seen on UA-cam.

      For performance purposes you can probly get away with it as long as you can keep a cheap guitar in tune, but eventually you will want to either upgrade pickups or upgrade the guitar since crappy pickups are only gonna capture so much of your amps tone.

      @@siisihqdaa The point is to test the whole range of the guitar. If you ever played one, you know that an 8 string will sound NOTHING like a 7 strings, and it requires adequate pickups to not sound flubby as hell. Fairly sure the sellers change listings all the time so that no feedback can accumulate, and so that the listings are picked up as "new" listings.
    I bought something last year that was trash. About 15 other people thought it was trash, too. The seller modified the description, which wiped out the feedback, and increased the price! (maybe they had software that increased the price automatically due to the sales volume).

    Lol at people complaining about a 'rich' person buying the cheapest something and 'complaining' about it.
    Talk about missing the point, doesn't matter how poor you are you're really wasting your money here and he's just being brutally honest. Agile isn't a great deal more than this, for a MUCH better instrument in every way.
    Honestly if you're poor and looking for a guitar on this budget, I'd HIGHLY recommend getting a Jackson JS22 dinky in natural oil with a Blackstar Fly3. I love the natural oil because it doesn't have a sealed finish around the body, the difference that makes is HUGE, allows the wood to breathe as it vibrates, the unplugged sound is awesome. Also not only are the pickups decent, but they're microphonic in a mostly positive way, the body actually makes a positive difference in tone here IMO. That guitar, the Fly3, a gig bag, Jazz III Ultex picks, and a cable could be had for about $300 and would make an amazing starter pack. Also it says basswood body, but I'm pretty sure the natural oil is mahogany, looks and sounds like it.

    no worries about the side gaps, they don't really lead to much sustain, but too tight of a joint and you can get finish and pocket cracks. A little room there is good - you want good wood selection and a good fit between the bottom of the neck and the pocket where the screws apply pressure.
    I love looking at super expensive bolt ons that are a decade old to find the ones that have cracked. There's a $4600 used james tyler strat copy (why would any strat copy ever be $4600 even new?) on ishibashi that has a tight neck to body fit and a big crack in the pocket. I wonder if the makers ever studied wood movement at all - you can probably get away with that super tight pocket with a quartered or laminated neck and a quartered body, but the odds are against you elsewhere.
    No denying that the workmanship is poor and they're just making them as fast as possible with cheap parts, but that's the price level. I got a supposed custom guitar with a cocobolo neck a couple of years ago, and a koa solid top. It turned out that it came with a dark colored mahogany neck (they tried to hide it by making it near solid color - I pushed them for a refund on that, the top was a veneer and there was a ton of glue under the koa was just a veneer. the "high output pickups" were just metal covered very noisy unpotted low output pickups and the wiring was the cheapest mini pot junk you could find, and the tuners untuned themselves constantly.
    It's fun to experiment with a couple of really cheap guitars, but the fun wears off pretty fast if you start correcting problems.

    I used to do reviews on Chinese replica guitars on my old channel. This is an attempt at a chinese manufacture creating their own brand from a knockoff they make. You can buy these things on Aliexpress or DHGate for about $300, but youll have to drop another grand to make it a good quality instrument. Usually have to replace tuners and bridge first, or there is zero sustain. Then the pickups need to be replaced, then either fret dress or complete refretting overhaul. After that, if the wood is really what they say it is (Which it usually isnt) then youll have a nice guitar. Thanks for the video!

      IMHO no need for grad but you have right about changing hardware, but then again even on 2000-3000$ i change hardware (people bring guitars and ask me to that). You have good point about the wood on those guitars and according to my experience majority is amazingly good quality, for this sort of wood combination and work He would min 1000$ if He is very lucky . i honestly think that people who expect to get 1st class wood+ great hardware and attention to details + setup all that for 300$ well ☺ they have serious issues and unrealistic expectations.

    I noticed that the pickups are not slanted for the multiscale design, leaving half the poles to the side of the string they should be beneath. 14:00 Could be why they sound so shit? I have an Agile pendulum 7 string that I had bareknuckle make slanted pickups for, and it sounds nice.

    Would you like to try out an NK Luminous guitar? It's a 6 string headless guitar that's being sold on Ebay and Ali Express for about 350$ and I've heard some good unbiased reviews about it on UA-cam

    It's probably rosewood in the laminations. There is a ton of rosewood in china compared to most other places because they have a huge furniture industry building with it.
    The blue bits on the body are probably someone touching it with dye on their fingers. Just hurry kind of errors, and lack of process (but the kind of thing you'd expect on something really dirt cheap).

Also would like to hear your opinion on the schecter brimstone and/or apocalypse pickup sets. alright done being greedy just stopped by to say I enjoy your content thoroughly and I think every musician/gear whore should subscribe to this channel.

    I'm czeching out cheap 8 and 9 string guitars lately. Imo, the toneage I'm hearing thru this vid has been quite good. But I'm listening pretty low fi here, my mobile with Toshiba bluetooth cans which were like 20 bucks, lol. Hmm.. maybe keep that guitar around; it may grow on you, who knows. I suspect I would have initially liked this guitar more than you, but I know little about guitars on the technical level, and you probably are way more into them in that way.. I'm just a hick punk rocker who picks up a git and makes noise, and that's about all I worry about, lol. But anyway, the tones you're getting from this git plus whatever rig yr using sounds really good from here. Lol, I'll finally shut up now. Cheers, greetings from Texas, lol.

    I bought an Ibanez rg8 2 years ago and it was really no better than this. I had to take the neck off and rework it, file the frets, and the pickups were noisier than this. I also paid $399 for it. Oh, and it's straight fret. I am going to try their 10-string as a project, and see how it goes.

      I tried a $400 Ibanez 8-string maybe 10 years ago, and sent it right back--cost me about $45 in the end. It was junk and wasn't worth the trouble of trying to make it play well. Trouble is you can't try many 8 strings in person, 'cause very few stores carry more than one or two models if any.

    Tbh I'd buy it even though there are those issues
    I'd just put alot of work into all the mistakes before I actually use it
    Then replace the pickups, pots, and toggle with actually good shit
    Then the tuners with Hipshot
    Then boom
    A multiscale workhorse for around 400-500$
