Bond # 25 - Cyclone F8 8-string Guitar - "Frankenstein"
* Body: Ambrosia maple with a 1/4" bubinga ply and a stripe of quilted maple that runs through the entirety of the body, including the top.
* Body top: 16 different woods (according to Bond). The ones I can easily pick out are Pale Moon Ebony, buckeye burl, redwood burl, flamed maple, spalted maple, quilted maple, wenge, amongst others.
* Neck: 3-piece wenge/flamed maple
* Fretboard: ironwood with cocobolo binding.
* Frets: 27
* Scale: 25.5"-27.5"
* Inlays: none
* Side dots: luminlay
* Hardware: Strandberg
* Hardware color: black
* Knobs: figured ash and cocobolo
* Strap buttons: Dunlop straplocks
* Jack: Neutrik
* Controls: volume, tone, 3-way, killswitch
* Pickups: EMG 808/808X w/custom covers from Bond
It should be noted this guitar does have modifications. The original EMGs were put back into the guitar after two Lace humbuckers proved to be awful, and the original wiring scheme was proven to essentially be a farce.

*Title says unbiased* *uses BIAS amp software*
Pretty sure his computer also has a BIOS
He really should use bias ply tires on his classic car, going unbiased on those is just wrong to me.
coolest. headless. ever.
i know Im kinda randomly asking but does anyone know of a good website to stream newly released series online?
@Carmelo Lukas i watch on Flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
@Curtis Jude Yup, I have been watching on flixzone for since march myself :D
@Curtis Jude Thank you, I signed up and it seems to work :) I really appreciate it !
@Carmelo Lukas glad I could help =)
This was an interesting review. It's shocking how many luthiers are experimenting with fanned frets/multiscale length guitars when they can't get the basics right. It's good of you to disclose everything wrong with the instrument before selling it. So many people try to scam you when selling secondhand guitars.
Jordan Keating exactly. Disclose absolutely everything that way no one will have anything to complain about regarding the seller.
LMFAO Legator
Very interesting review (stumbled across this vid on facebook) you've just earned yourself a new sub sir.
Might be just the amp settings... but to me, it sounds pretty damn flat.
Yeah, kind of thin.
MetalSpiderPig it's called emgs
Arash Panahi The EMGs are not to blame here. I think it has to do with the headless design and the poor luthier work.
I don't know if it is JUST the EMGs, but I will say I hate the 808's on my ESP. They have no tone, totally flat and blunt.
Grave Protocol Eh, to each their own. I love my EMGs personally.
The patch-work top on that guitar has nothing to do with tone. It's an aesthetic thing. The only thing it would contribute to is maybe making the guitar sound a bit brighter, due to the amount of glue used in putting all of those pieces of wood together. That top has the tonal equivalent of putting a ply-wood top on your guitar, which would brighten up pretty much any instrument, regardless of the base wood used. Hence, I can pretty much guarantee you that they chose the types of wood purely for their aesthetic value, as well as generally just what they had in their scrap bin, not what tone each wood would supposedly encourage.
INF1D3L010 exactly its tone glue haha
If only B.C. Rich still made Stealths, man. I'll regret my whole life not buying it when I was in Germany 7 years ago.
Just posted the video: ua-cam.com/video/d5QyOD4pmys/v-deo.html
add unbiased beer reviews as a secondary channel or videos!!!
Dragonfiredh 10/10 would subscribe
Hey Arnold!! Nice vid as always. I was just curious if you could do a few videos of some of the lower priced extended range guitars? Thanks and keep the videos coming!!
Nice riffs dude, subbed.
I've been waiting Arnold
love your videos . this is the first one where the tone was lacking in guessing that was the emg's
I have a Schecter hellraiser with emg 81/85s and they can coil split. Is that any different?
Been watching your gear reviews..
Those sweet vibratos.. Deym..
Cool stuff man.
You have noooooooooo fucking idea how fucking good you just made me feel that you are complimenting my vibrato. I have had a shit vibrato for a fucking long time and I've been putting in a lot of work on it. Thank you thank you thank you!!!
You're welcome. Your work has surely paid off. More gear reviews man.
everything is sic in this vids even the tee shirt !!
do you got a set up new string vid for a guitar like that it be interesting to see
Killer job bro!!!
You should've put SD Nazgûl/Sentient instead of the original EMGs. they will sound heavier, maintain the balance than the 808s and the original wiring will still be accessible
So how does the whole tone wood thing work? Not being a smart ass but you seem pretty knowledgeable I don't get how wood is picked up via electrical signal I can see sustain but not affecting the brightness or anything could you explain it?
the emg x in the neck is made to sound more like a passive but has the positives that a active pickup offers
I don't know if it was your intention, but you made me laugh a lot talking about the craftsmanship issues!
Excellent review.I have a couple odd shaped guitars (Ibanez xyphos)The problem I have is the balance when standing using a strap.It's got 6 holes in it from trying to find a good balance.Is your guitar well balanced when standing?Maybe in a future review you can stand to play and talk a bit about the balance of it.
Which song is that at the intro? It`s great! Is there a full version around?
out of curiosity which guitar in your collection do you find yourself spending the most time with?
I am impressed by the fact that you pointed out flaws,not only did your keep the guitar,your playing sounded very good.Or did you keep it??
Is your KSR cab a custom FRFR build or a 2x12 you are powering?
Any chance you'll ever do a review of that Stealth that's hanging on your wall?
where can I get hold of this thing? like online? and get it shipped to my place...
hey bro your reviews are always on point man I just recently bought a kraken 8string I would be cool if you did a review on it I would love to hear your view on it it would nice
damn! this is the coolest looking headless&fanfret guitar! :)
regarding the EMG wiring; they did have (still have?) a series labeled 'TW' that came with a push/pull pot for a coil split effect (not sure if it was a true split or a simulation). I have a 707TW installed in an Ibanez that sounds okay, but seldom play anymore because passive pickups have gotten so much better recently. I don't think the X series had that feature, and you definitely needed the special pot to toggle the effect on the TWs, as I don't recall them supporting a flip switch either.
those oatmeal porters are so good. have you tried the highwater campfire stout?
layoflakersnation might have but I don't remember. I'll look for ot
layoflakersnation that shits the best! I got a barrel aged version I'm my garage right now!
cheers!
Absolutely love these reviews, could you possibly do a review on the Ibanez RGDix6mpb?
Most hilarious Ibanez guitar name ever
yea, i wanna hear that stealth on the wall there
what is the website for Arnold guitars?
RE maple guitars: I have a Gibson SG that's made with a maple body and it has a torrified maple fretboard. To top things off it also uses a wrap around bridge and (here's the clincher) no tone control. On paper, it should be a shrill, nasty sounding mess but the previous owner had replaced the stock uncovered ceramic magnet pickup with a vintage voice, lower output, covered alnico magnet pickup and I'll say it's now a very usable blues/rock guitar. Your pickup selection can make a huge difference with the tone of your guitar but it should also be noted the quality and the taper response of your pots and caps will also make a big difference too. I had an LP Jr for a while too with a Lollar P-90 but it still had the OEM electronics so as a result, it would quickly become muddy when you rolled down the volume. Replacing the OEM electronics with (insert expensive electronic upgrade kit here) the tone and volume pots became a lot more usable. In conclusion, tonewoods do effect the overall sound of your guitar but in case you have a guitar you otherwise like the fit and feel of but the sound is not to your liking there are relatively inexpensive ways to get the best out of it. Keep up the good work Arnold.
wow i love that guitar's sound and looks. i'm building one now. let me know if you want one.
That is one good looking guitar.. but it just blows my mind how many of these custom guitar makers are popping up, selling these crazy speced out instruments that takes months to build and they can’t even get the little things right that you wouldn’t even have issues with on a $400 import guitar. There are way too many options on the market for this stuff to have this many issues.
It sounds so much heavier when you scoop the mids and highs out!
i dont think any emg active pickups can be series/parallel switched or coil tapped.
Is the piece you played for the demo at the beginning a song you’ve wrote or just an improv??? It’s fucking dope!!!
sweet guitar i just dont like the volume knob that close, but nice looking..
Not usually into crazy body shapes, but that things fucking siiiiick looking.
Damn good review.
Fanned pickups is interesting. I'm shopping around for a fan fret cause its supposed to be good for my carpal tunnel.
this might be my next guitar
Holy fuck! Where can i get that intro track?
Wish I had the cash to drop on that right now, good luck with your sale.
Which instruments did you use for your intro?
AXPena Hapas, Dingwall.
The biggest problem for me is that E string being so close to the edge, I can’t stand guitars with that problem. But damn this thing looks so nice! Hopefully they fix that.
can you do a review on mishas newest pro six string model
Bkcameron2 That thing gets two thumbs down
Out of this world look. I want one.
do you get hand pain arnold??
i like Arnold's reviews but what i hate is that fisheye cam.
on this video you wouldn't be able to say if the guitar is multiscale or not. tough to realize the real shape, ratios and size of the instrument
Don't you think more than likely the fret edges are due to the woods not being dried enough or settled enough before filing the frets. The slight edges pop out after the fact. Thus making it seem like a bad filing job.
What is the name of this guitar; company based?
an experiment for how many tone woods you can put and still hear no difference at all
I would love to have this thing with me... want to deal it out...
review the stealth
I would grab that stealth in the back and trie some Death on it and check out the strange scale length of that beauty :)
stunning instrument....unusual....
I used to hang with Todd of TK instruments, I doubt you'll get a chance to review one ,Ormsby knows about him and said he's a fantastic Luthier ! His website is really cool ,check it out.
will you ever again make reviews like you did with Ormsby?
Anti Phase That was a competition from ormsby. Also shortens the videos dramatically but man did that ormsby video rock. one of my favorite guitar reviews of all time
yep, and mine too, that`s why I want more)
didn`t know it was a competition. Thanks
sounds muddy, don't know if the guitar, amp settings or the eq. other than that, awesome review as always.
alpenjodel24 EMG pickups boi
alpenjodel24 don't forget this is also the same guy who demoed a 10 string guitar so from that point on I never expected him to have any concerns about anything he puts together sounding muddy...
Review your bc rich stealth!
Chuck Schuldiner tribute version!!!
Awesome review! Awesome guitar! Thank you man! I'm subscribe!)
How much do you want for it?
I have my reverb page posted above in the description, but bear in mind that is an asking price. TRY ME on an offer.
did you sell it yet
Donna Moffitt not yet, sir. Still posted on Reverb.
That intro is heavy FUCK
I wanna see you review a Gittler Guitar just to complain about the frets poking out
That guitar is so badass holy shit
If I had any money I would snag that guitar in a heartbeat
Is it still available for sale?
No. Someone just messaged me last week telling me they managed to track it down and buy it. Good for them...although a few issues are/were fixable, no one can tell me the issue with the e string can be fixed to make it playable.
It’s me, the guy who bought it
@@austinswain4863 where are you out of? FS?
Tommy Ciampoli NY and not as of now
-----No head is option for head like skeleton head or Giant spider ...hand..etc..nice playing brother!!!!$$$$$$
Honestly this guitar is ugly as shit. Just a hodgepodge of workshop scraps with no thought behind it. The fatal flaw of the high e string is absolutely unforgivable. If you can't get basic measurements right, you have no right building guitars. Reminds me of Halo garbage.
Ibanez Lefty Club what like halo 4 and 5? XD
Ibanez Lefty Club that's your opinion. one of the sexiest guitar I've ever seen
that high e being too close to the edge of the fret board is a permanent problem with new bolt on guitars.it's called neck alighnment.just losen the screws,adjust the neck until you get the perfect space of strings then tighten the screws back.just remember to losen the strings a bit befor losening the screws
what's the price on it though?just asking...
Crazy looking
i've heard spoken to luthiers, and they say this type of top is extremely hard to pull off, all of those woods, will be increasing difficult to hold together, and each wood will expand in different ways over time or through whatever temperature/humidity it's almost certain that guitar even with all it's current issues will be worse in time, the high E, could that be fixed? that's got to be the most lackluster shyte i've ever seen from a "high end" luthier, that's shit, i could be wrong about the top, but all those woods no matter how much lacquer or poly or resin or whatever is clearly on that guitar, it's probably going to have a long term issue, idk for sure, certainty is a bit much, whatever
ciao
Good review. Damn shame. For someone that doesn't play leads, the high notes problem shouldn't be too much of an issue.
Sad that it turned out so bad, it looks great (on a 5 inch screen anyway).
Brutal riffing breh
did you end up selling this one?
Alex Screeton not yet. Just did the video this week
ArnoldPlaysGuitar How much did you pay for it?
I'm not really inclined to say how much I paid for it at this time. What I will say, is that given all that I pointed out, I paid too much. Had this been a top-shelf guitar - like I fucking thought it was until it arrived - it would have been an insane bargain. I have it for sale currently (link in the description), but that's just an asking price. I KNOW I'll probably end up taking a an even more massive hit.
I like that. How much?
Bout time
So what does the guitar sound like? All I heard was plug in saturated beast humping.
It'd be dope if you did some clean playing with flat EQ in these reviews too.
ThomasT loud and clear. Check out this video. I've got some clean playing at 2:13. ua-cam.com/video/XTTOG1w11vs/v-deo.html
Hahaha, that's pretty good
Dat output jack....
Sounds muted and dull, but I'm also not a fan of extended range guitars. Was this the one floating around the FB sales pages? I thought I saw the situations with the high-E string and knobs openly discussed and described within the post. Either way, still enjoy the content! Drink on...
Edit: totally your sales post... sorry they Frankenscrewed ya!
Bond guitars look amazing on pictures but it's really disheartening to hear all the dodgy stuff about the paintjob, about sanding it down, about EMGs being wired parallel Coil Split (which is generally impossible) , about the E String on the neck, the wood crack (eventhough this is more of a he said she said). Great looking guitar but i hope the people behind it up their game with some aspects.
That guitar is so sexy!
the quality issues are a large disappointment, but the guitar looks gorgeous! Any other places that might have a guitar in that shape?
not a fan of the sound at all (probably eq). but minus the patchwork top, and how much of a pile of shit it seems to be, that is the sexiest looking guitar on the planet
OGbrundle Right? those wood combinations are so damn sexy.
Move that lil saddle on the tremello the string sits in can't you? Don't multi s ale Bridges and terms individual and can move back fourth up and down? I don't know just asking? I have never owned a multi scale but that is my next guitar. I am going with a Kahler system on mine whenever I get one. If Slayer swears by them with the stuff they play then I'll take their judgement.
I'm saying..it looks cool and all...you could change pretty much whatever if you wanted to (no idea about price) but MAAAN...those fins look they'd snap off in a NY Minute...
Im gonna guess Ab is the lowest this axe can go and be intonated. I can barely hold drop G at 27.75"
wow, you know your wood
me cago en la puta concha !!!! que guitarra tan potente y esa canción woooooooooow
I can't be the only one who absolutely hates soapbar pickups? IMO, I don't get why anybody would want EMG's when you can get a set of Phase 1 Blackouts instead
Do you think that bond will ever create a good instrument?
Wow as a wanna-be luthier I found this review very surprising... borderline offensive even...
Dude must have been smashed whilst throwing this deformity together. Nice review, think I'm gonna have to try that beer.
LOL , no one bought it yet i take it, i see its still on reverb.
I bought it off a friend, who was the original reverb buyer lol
