I appreciated this soooo much! I found a 7 string version of this and I couldn't find any videos or reviews to see if it was worth or not! Thank you!!
You've become one of my favorite UA-camrs. Keep rocking it dude.
Loving these gear reviews! Keep up the good work, Arnold.
Dude, that tune you played at the beginning was sick!
Great content. Keep it up!
Love this review. Really is quite unbiased, and very informative. Looking to get a cheap electric simply to have some fun with and came across this review - thanks for the info
awesome I have just bought hybrid,bass guitar on its way,cant wait,great playing,Arnie
Quite good video, awesome!
Great work with the fair and honest reviews man! Could you review a GOC 8 string!? Came across them recently and Im wanting a cheap 8 string to try! Keep up the good work!
Didn't expect that. Kinda nice to know that there are cheap guitars that aren't complete garbage. Keep the fantastic reviews coming man!
I didn't expect it either. Fun little guit-fiddle
I've been waiting for the 7 string I ordered about a month and a half ago and it just arrived today! Shipping from Australia to Canada had a few bottlenecks along the way with covid and all but I could not be happier with the purchase. This was to be my entry into the multiscale world but I may just keep this one. Mine is in a matte finish army green color and looks absolutely stunning. It actually plays pretty well out of the box and was almost in tune so I know it was in fact tested. It may just need a little setting up but not much at all because intonation is almost perfect. It came with a lot of Haze branded swag such as a gig bag (really thin) strap, strings (for a 6 string though), picks, jack, allen keys and a clip on tuner. This would all be great for someone just starting off and I appreciate the gesture but all this will probably be given away or stuffed into my junk drawer. Nonetheless this appears to be amazing value for your money; at least the one I got is. Thanks for the in depth video nudging me to pull the trigger on this one!
Well done mate. Good review.
Got some Bullet For My Valentine vibe from the intro, love it!
I didn't even notice until you pointed it out. I was TRYING to ape the Four Year Strong sound...but yeah, it totally sounds like BFMV.
NUBONE: My Taylor acoustic has a Nubone nut and saddle. Their marketing says its basically ground up bone mixed with glue. The idea being that you get the tone of bone (yes it rhymes) without the inconsistency of bone. ie. sometimes bone will have portions that are less dense than others.
Should check out the Harley Benton fanned fret guitars.
Yes, the green fanned fret 8 string is rocking youtube right now!
they are SO goddam awful ...
Got the 6 string. Completely surprised by the looks. Sound not the best, but for 190 quid I just wanted to try out fanned frets. Not disappointed.
Joe Smith They're good for seeing how you take to the fan and what not, I'm not one for tone wood it's the 1% the 99% just change the pickups and hardware and it'll be great.
I disagree. I got the 7 string I fucking love the thing! Recorded a shit ton with it too! Stays in tune, plays great, can't complain about anything tbh
Love your reviews, brother.
I'm a low gain player (and now builder) so these aren't really my style, but I'm amazed how you can put enough gain through an amp model on a PC and get a crap guitar to sound OK.
David W what about them is Crap? They get plenty of good reviews,I'm interested to know....thanks
solid review. thanks
Really good critique and playing - very pro APG!
Just found your channel....and daa fuck you´re doing some sick videos!! New subscriber for sure.
Greetings from Germany!!
Hi Arnold, Strandbergs also have a half-inch difference in scale. The 6-strings, of course.
I just bought one and it's metal as F! It's very comfortable well setup out of the box. Drop B tuning and it loves the low tuning. Slipknot.
Does not need any more aggressive fan or any change in scale length it's good. The fan makes it easy to palm mute. The action is good, the pick ups are good. I'm glad I took the risk on this one.
Wow that's a coincidence. I just ran into these a few days ago and when I went to do some research on it, I got nothing. I'm surprised you didn't go with the Haze 7 fanned fret. Glad to see they are pretty decent.
Something about this guitar to me just screams "punk rock" and I'm not sure why, but now I want one. I don't even care for active pickups most times, but something about these ones sound really good.
thank you very much for this review, perhaps I gonna buy one:-)
I was thinking of building a Jazzmaster kit guitar, but a Haze built model 1950 came up on ebay for only about $50 more, plus it has 3 pickups instead of the normal 2. Do you think you might do a review on this one?
Thanks
Would love if you could maybe review the "Giggle black machine 7"
Really beautiful guitar, and I know you recently did another video on a cheap ebay guitar. These look promising.
Whats your opinion on the pots(are they 550k, would 500k clear up a little mud? I ordered the mgs (little different but prob for most part the same)
Looks like something nice to make a project guitar
i live in OZ and ive just bought one of Haze s active Basses again the pick ups on a $400AUD bass are remarkable its a neck through design which took a bit of setting up but its a nice bass
Hey Arnold, I noticed you have a Mooer Ocean Machine under your desk, has Devin Townsend influenced you in playing guitar and song writing in any way?
This will sound weird, but I'm a late bloomer to Dev. I always loved SYL, but I TRIED to get into DTP back in the day and bought Accelerated Evolution the day it came out...and I sold it right away. It wasn't bad, I was just young and simple and I did not get it! Then, I got married to another rabid SYL fan, and at some point she just dove in headfirst and became a diehard Devin fan like right away. I followed suit once I started to get more immersed in it.
Now...that being said...I'm not jiving with this pedal so much. Thankfully I'm only borrowing it. As much as I would like to think my musical taste has matured a bit as I've gotten older...it probably hasn't. I'm still meat and potatoes to the point where I love a guitar going straight into a head and sounded meaty as fuck! At most, through in a badass OD, Fuzz, or HM-2 or something in front and let 'er rip! And this pedal is so not in my wheelhouse. It sounds cool, but it's just not my thing.
hey man, could you tell what is the drum device you are using? Thanks!
Nice review both guitars and beers. Any chance you can review Halo custom guitars?
Listen fella some kids are poor and would be really be excited about owning an haze fan fret guitar until they hear your blowing smoke in these videos !!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK !!! Thanks... GOD BLESS !!!
Nice review on the raspberry wine!
Good tone and a great song.
awesome!
Im thinking of getting a haze acoustic hopefully its as good as your guitar.
Any chance you'll ever do a Douglas, Agile, or any other RondoMusic brand?
They probably used the strandberg 6-string design for the fan fret, it's the same specs. 25"-25.5" with the vertical fret being the nut.
They have a trans-black one that is more akin to an LTD M-series (the super strat shape) for about $300 shipped, and if its anything like this one, I'm buying it.
Hey Arnold, I really like these videos, I have a small request, It would be much appreciated if you could do one of these on a STERLING Majesty, I like the way you do the reviews and maybe other people "on a budget" would appreciate it too, I know you did a musicman review but most people cant afford one. Thanks and keep up the good work.
I know I'm just a stranger on the internet, but I played one and it was JUNK. nut looked like it was done by a toddler and the pickup scraped out the paint of the inside of the pickup route. so bad you could see the wood. for 900 dollars it was embarrassing. I would highly recommend you at least play one first; get it in your hands. Maybe it was just a dud guitar, but the QC was so terrible I have been turned away from music Man. you could get a great Ibanez or even some used us made guitars *cough*kiesel*cough* for that price, and you're not paying for the name. as for the playability it was fine. it wasn't special but it might have been on the lower half of good with a proper set up. the sound was not spectacular either. it was, the best way I could describe it, grey. it lacked any final neuance. Just loud pickups that got louder with the boost circuit. anyway, don't buy one without seeing it, like I said. I have only played one, but that was my experience and it was kinda shameful. maybe others are good...great...but I doubt it. go for an Ibanez or a bare bones kiesel or a jackson or Maybe even a high end legator if your brave. don't be drawn in expecting it to be good. I was, with JP and MM associated with it, but the instrument was junk, and both Petrucci and music Man should be ashamed of the product, at least as I experienced it. sorry for the rant, but I figured it was worth saying and I was also heartbroken because I LOVE the real majesty. unfortunately, this guitar was no majesty. it wasn't even fit for a serf...
I appreciate the reply and the input, And I agree with you you should play it before buying, which is why I can't go for kiesel or legator because we do not have those in my country and even though, they might be great guitars they might not be right for me I can't buy something without getting a feel for it first. What Ibanez model would you compare to a Majesty? I'm mainly interested in the majesty because of the neck through build, and I don't know which ibanez is a neck through, I have a neckthrough dean V which isn't very comfortable for my personal practice position and I want something with a neckthrough construction that is "normal shaped" so it will be more comfortable.
Rumba Chumba No problema! pardon me for assuming everyone is here in the us...The rgit20 is a pretty sweet neck through rg, and they are gorgeous. only downside for me is emgs, but they can be swapped. pickups imo are the least important part of a guitar as they can change in 20 minutes.
sorry it's the rgit20fe. Ibanez and they're model names...I think they just pull letters out of a hat.
Well you almost got it, It is a sweet guitar, thanks for the help my dude.
ArnoldPlaysGuitar I came here to repeat the beginning song intro as it sounds fucking badass!
Review any of the Vola guitars. Blaze X is especially interesting.
How do you only have 25k subs? I'd swear you were bigger than that
Ok I play more blues rock in looking at a semi hallow LP looking haze guitar I have both prs se and a set of locking hipshots and some pickups I love to stick in it
+ArnoldPlaysGuitar Have you done a review on the Schecter Jeff Loomis seven string? If not, will you?
Scott Norris believe it or not, I shot one over a year ago, and just never edited it to post it. Me being a slackass. Let me see if I can locate the files and maybe do it now.
Awesome. Thanks Arnold.
Was a very Bullet for my Valentine "Scream Aim Fire" era song in the beginning
hey Arnold, you messed up the description, you pasted the Jackson SLAT8FF Soloist 8-string Guitar title
Massinissa Dalla Costa DOH!!! Thanks for letting me know. I'll fix it.
Great review Arnold. I have a Hamer Chapparral Standard made in the USA 1996 and neck through body. Great guitar but it needs to go as Im dying to get a fanned fret guitar so if someone is interested its at a good price.
curt wehrmeyer how much for the hamer
curt wehrmeyer How much are you selling it for?
Regarding that lutheir video - you are talking about Patrick Hufschmid. I have seen that video (and many more) and if I remember right, in description he mentioned that for the final product the neck pocket is enlarged VERY SLIGHTLY (like, seriously slighty) to give the wood room to move due to climate change (or something along those lines). Not trying to call you out or anything, just wanted to mention that.
You should try and get a hold of a Hufschmid Guitar. I'd be real interested in a review of that. Too bad they're so rare.
Shizaffizle ayyyyy
ayyyyy
Do review of strat of haze
Can you do mayones or strandberg?? Also, sick riffing!
Strandberg WILL happen sometime in the future. Dear God I've wanted one forever. As for Mayones...a few people have expressed interest in sending me theirs for review, but I am just SO BACKLOGGED with music-related this and that. I've got other reviews to do, I'm working on an EP or three or ten, and I'm still trying to get the beer review videos off the ground as well. Add to that, I've got a very intensive day job that honestly takes a lot out of me.
It's also worthwhile to hear what the pickups sound like clean.
k
I pulled the trigger on one and it arrived today. First Impressions: Build quality seems really solid for a cheap guitar, I must say I really dig the shape of the body, really refreshing design after the usual stuff. The neck joint - while looks bad - is not that bad actually. The neck I think is a modern C shape, I wouldn't call it thin but it's not a baseball bat either, the radius, I don't know, it's feels flat. Overall I'd say it's comfortable. The pots/switch have a good quality feel to them, they don't feel cheap. I won't say anything about tuning stability as it arrived literally today after going through the world. The pickups tho...while Arnold praised them, I beg to differ, they are just shit at first glance. I tried it with Neural DSP's Omega Ampworks, even with tweaking the stock presets they sound cheap. Very bassy, non-existent mids, "shrieking" highs, I actually replaced the battery because I thought it died and that's why it sounds bad, it was good though. I probably won't bother with them as I planned to replace them anyways. Will their quick connect work with other pickups? I don't know(feel free to comment). One more thing, the fret job is indeed excellent, the frets themselves feel small? Idk what fret wire they use but I thought I would say it, even though some of the higher frets feel a little bit scratchy, they are rounded off nicely at the edges, really nothing but praise here despite that, obliterates some of the more known brands easily(the fretjob).Overall I'd say it has worth it even though I'm in EU and taxes/customs ain't that friendly, makes for an awesome mod project. There's also a superstrat shaped version if that fancies you. Guitar came packaged solid, 2 boxes + bubble wrap + gig bag.
Update: Tried with Bias FX2, actually sounds good now, pickups seem to prefer more classic amps(Marshalls, Oranges and the like), I have no idea why it sounds that bad with Omega Ampworks.
Update 2: I still have the guitar, unfortunately, with supply issues going on, I haven't modded it yet . I forgot to mention the guitar buzzes at G1 and B1 frets, I haven't noticed it for a good while, lol, but that's the guitar's biggest problem, idk if it's the nut or the fret is a bit higher, those are the only frets that buzz but I'm gonna take it to a shop/luthier anyways when pickups arrive soon, I remembered Warman guitars exist and they had Warblades rail pickups on hand so went with those. String ferrules - as Arnold mentioned - fall out.. Tuning stability is alright for the price, definitely could use better tuners but I don't have to retune every 5 minutes.
Love how thorough your review is! Very helpful for others who want honest opinions mate. Thankyou
@@jradworddog Glad I could help, a few things to add now that I have it for a few months now, neck shape is more closer to an LTD and after some heavy digging most Haze stuff refer to theirs as U as well, it's comfortable, I'm pretty sure the radius is 16". Tuning stability is alright, I would compare the whole thing to a 200 series LTD to give you an idea about the quality of this guitar. I still love it, nothing broke, pickups aren't my favorite but I'm gonna replace them somewhere in the future anyways, they are usable though.
@@Grym0ire will emg or seymour duncan active pickups just clip straight in or
@@73prd I think so, yes, I tried a set of Seymour Duncan Duality pickups and they worked without doing anything to the wiring. EMGs are internally grounded and the stock pickups in this are grounded to the bridge so you should watch out for that in case of going with EMGs.
witness the transformation from hablewitz to hetfield @ 0:20
Review Cort kx 500 please
I bought one of these in orange for about $370 Australian. It's very good for the price, I was too broke to replace my stolen Indonesian Washburn Solar so I went to CHINATOWN (ebay actually).
i like your playing guitar ( Avyan , my son , 5 years old)
that minute multiscale would be good for new standard
Hey Arnold,
Hazes kind of rock. Aussie company. I have what must be the bass version of this, the Hybrid4PWH. Two pickups, same cutouts. Not fanned fret and it has a brass adjustable nut but same ballpark. They're just unbelievably nice for the price tag. You don't have to change a thing, the stock parts are all a decent grade imo. It's probably the least noisy single coil bass I own, if I'm honest.
Thomann sells cheapest Harley Benton 7string fan fretted guitar for 200$ including shipping to US
i swear fanfret guitar should have angled nuts as well as angled frets and bridge
A fanfret guitar generally has a neutral fret (a straight one). Often its the 12th fret and the frets fan out in different directions from there. In that case the nut would be angled. Quite often though the 1st fret is the neutral one as it is in this case.
Fisheye video distortion makes it even weirder :D
Do the Ibanez Rg9qm
on a 6 string the fan will feel more dramatic. much easier on you to add angle on a 7 string and up. this is probably why the diff is so short. id still have gone for around 26 though.
Cheap active pickups for example the harley benton HBZ pickups, very muddy, definetely very noisy and just not good quality in total. But these KD pickups were slightly better than what you would expect at a guitar at this price, props to Haze.
25.5 to 26 would have been better especially if the nut were slanted backwards to take half of the extended range. On a 6 string playing lower drop tunings, I'd be cool with a less aggressive fan.
I agree about the small fan design, but you could largely say the exact same for the Strandberg 6 and 7. the 6 has only a 0.5" fan, and the 7 has only 0.75", both of which beg the question, why bother?
They have some les pauls that look appealing on ebay, however shipping to Europe is as expensive as the guitar is.
Wow. Is this the very guitar you got in a matryoshka-package?
Dude can you use Deesser on your voice , i love the vids but it just shreds my ears.
Are ?
Nice speed on the down chugs. Most youtubers slack wrist up and down that shit.
CIRCLE OF TONE Your friend for guitar tone Nothing wrong with alternate picking lol.
Kvlt Goat disagree. It's tonally sloppier than down pick chugs. Obviously speed is limited but if the tempo is right, downstroke for her pleasure.

When December 1st hits! ;)
I just bought one of these Haze guitars for $184 AUD which is about $120 USD and I tell ya, straight out of the box it felt like I could have been playing a high end top shelf job. . I did some digging and turns out it's made by Hillsong a Christian group who started off putting on weekend singing/songwriting seminars. So odds are they're going to be making sure they sell decent quality for price guitars worthy of being used to Praise the Lord.
it’s actually hillSOUND - entirely separate from hillsong, haha
is it just me or are those frets parallel?
where are your shoes?
Dat Amaranthe shirt tho
do that dingwall
he has
Why would you need fanned frets on a 6 string?
I think the same way.
for literally the same reason you might want one on a 7/8??????
Batastrophic but like, you don't need multiple scale lengths when you only have the tension of a 6 string.
Batastrophic, unless you down tune, regular scale length is good enough for a six strings. The problem starts when using bigger strings that get too loose on a 25.5". You get around that with bigger strings gauge, but that as a limit. Even a 27" is a bit short for a low f#. You can use a FF on a six, but it doesn't need to be much much. I personally think the reference in FF is Novax Guitars since I believe he was the first one to make those and if you look at his six, they aren't that aggressive. I have its CH8.
Jean-Yves Pelletier well that's my point, lots of people downtune on 6ers :V Nile e.g. almost strictly use 6ers for their drop A tuning (24.75 scale length). Even rock bands though tend to like to use D & C# standard. Baritones! People still buy baritone guitars, baritone 6 electrics predate 7 string electrics. Then there's djent. I don't really like it myself, but there's a big market for extended tunings now, and these guys really only use the bottom 6 of their 7s & 8s. Nowadays a drop or standard 8ve-below E tuning is no longer shocking, but surely instead of an 8 string, a long scale baritone would be more efficient. I'm not even saying any of these aforementioned bands will definitely want multi-scales. I've been playing drop C a lot lately, I have tried a multiscale, and I wasn't entirely sold, so I'm not even deadset on choosing multiscale, but is there a need? Sure, for the same reason there's a market for fan 7/8 strings. Now, I suspect that the confusion is people are assuming 6 string means standard E, & I'd like to point out the irony in this, because Arnold almost never 'reviews' one of his many 6ers in standard E. Today he's in Standard D! When he was reviewing the headless Riever 6S guitar he was in drop Bb! There's his playthrough of Gojira's Silvera, a song in standard D! Like, I'm not judging, but if you're the sort of person who only strictly thinks of 6 strings as standard E, then you're probably not big on heavy metal, so why on earth would you be watching Arnold's vids? Every review he does comes with several minutes of chugga chugs.
Hey Arnold,
Tell people to click the Bell Button and check box to receive notifications once they've clicked subscribe, like buttons, and commented below lol cheers
check out hardluckking guitars they are super cheap but seem worth the money they are doing pre orders for 7 string guitar for like 200 bucks
reminded me of atreyu lol I don't think that's exactly a bad thing btw lol
Might want to fix your description bro.
Their website is kookaburramusictree.com Thought Id let you know. I'm playing a Haze fretless 4 string in drop C for the band this account is for. Cheers
Video starts at 1:30
Bruhhhhhhh what's your Untappd name?
AXPena ArnoldPlaysGuitar
Actually... Bolt on Guitars are the ones with the most sustain, it has been prooved
I don't even see the point of the Ibanez fanned fret basses let alone this
The camera might be playing tricks on me, but those frets look like they are fanned in the wrong direction. Chinese guitars I guess.
Hey the first part of this is a string of that's what she says joke
Time to swap out the wide angle lens... that thing is making the fretboard look wayyyyy wrong haha
I know nothing about haze guitars except the seem cheep (like price)
Killer licks Arnold. That guitar sounded totally awesome. keep up the great reviews. Here is the site I found hazeguitars.com/. Hand made not Chinese made.
Wrong Haze.
What's the point of a fan fret so small? They might as well just made the entire instrument 25.5".
Not only so small, but also on a 6 strings. I feel like you need 7 or even 8 and more strings to really need a fan fret.
Depends how you are tuned. If you're tuned to A fanned frets would still be useful on a 6.
If you're tuned to A, I think a 7-string would be a more suitable option since they usually have a longer scale length than most 6 strings.
I live near the haze wholesaler in Sydney and the guitars are not dirt cheap. Ibanez gio has far better stuff.
No way you bought this lmao. I saw it listed on Facebook
mike ganas I was the guy selling it. And I sold it yesterday, actually.
ArnoldPlaysGuitar oh no way haha. I actually almost bought it but didn't know what it was 😂😂
with the demo did anyone else get an avenged sevenfold vibe
