For those who don't have an iPad, now they have to go out and spend more money. the e-waste excuse is bull. And why do you recommend people to buy old tech. The new model offers hdr 10+ and is future proofed. You do know the new model will eventually get more updates than the old one.
I upgraded from my a10x version and AirPlay seems far better.
Faster and far more reliable.

The 2017 is still good enough for most people. I have all 3 models and while the newest is certainly the fastest, all of them are better than the built in OS on pretty much any TV.

I got the brand new Apple TV 4K 2022 128GB WiFi + Ethernet 2 weeks ago before I bought me a 4K TV to put in my room. I bought my new TV yesterday and hooked my new HDMI to my brand new 2022 Apple TV 4K. The screen is beautiful. 🙂

I'm liking the price. I personally see no reason for anyone getting a new Apple TV not to get the ethernet version for the thread functionality. Even if you have three Apple TVs in different rooms, it would come in handy to have more thread devices spread out around the house. Hopefully Apple updates the software so we can pick our hub.
I agree completely that the remote should be in 'find my'. I'd also like to see them bring back the gyroscope functionality of the old remote. My family used it with Just Dance and as a steering wheel for racing games.

You can choose the hub. Just don't let the additional TVs be the hub -turn that feature off. only select the ethernet ATV for the hub. Sadly, the HomePod may take over, but if its a newer mini or HP2 it supports thread and matter so it should not be an issue. Yeah, there may be latency but... that is going to be you weakest link in the network which is probably not the hub. For that reason I do not use the comcast equipment. I bought my own Arris for the TV's, computer, printers and (cough cough) the two fire sticks. I also have wired via ethernet to that router an old (2018) Airport Extreme where I run most of my smart home products. It can support 50 wireless and over 150 via ethernet connected hubs (lutron, Aqara, Ikea)
Just got the new Apple TV with ethernet. Believe me, the extra 20 bucks is worth it. I have 1 GiG download from my internet provider. This makes a high difference in streaming content.

I just ordered the latest model 128GB tonight. My first Apple TV will replace my FireStick. I hate the FireStick as it is very slow and causes my Plex movies to stop/stutter then restarts the app. Not a fan. I will be testing the device to ensure it is right for me. Just started using Apple products last year in May and so far I'm liking it.

I've been waiting so long for them to be in stock in Thailand, that I went ahead and bought a Fire TV Stick. Wow, Amazon voice search is so much better. The experience is great and it was like 1/4 the price. So, crossing this off my list.

Same here. I already have four HomePods so I'm good with Thread. I picked up a 2021 ATV 4K at $99 to add to the others I have, moved the old ATV non-4k to the kitchen to replace the Roku I have there and I'm set.
Didn’t the a10x only come in iPad pros? The iPhone 7 just had the A10 Fusion.

I removed my HomePod mini stereo pair from my HomeKit and added them back again and now my Apple TV 4K is my Home HomeKit Hub. Still think it’s silly you can’t pick though.

I think this AppleTV came out before the software. Just judging on how the equipped these, HomeKit secure video might get a resolution bump above 1080p with the new CPU. Offering two models one with Ethernet and another without, suggest possible repeater/extender functionality. The release of these coincided with the roughly with the release of the Matter standard, which will be bringing over time lots of new data into HomeKit for processing, like actually occupancy mapping.

I got my 128gb model. It get it to work after turning off I have to unplug the power to get it to start. Very annoying

That’s a new one, haven’t heard of that one. Maybe try restating or resetting them?
@@AdamsTechLife I’ve been messing with it for god knows how long. I’ve even brought an Apple express 2nd gen as it’s airplay compatible to try fix the issue with no luck. I’ve reset and contacted apple for help with nothing. It will work but not as the default output so it’ll use my tv speakers most of the time and reset at every ad what’s exactly annoying just hope I can fix this!
@@AdamsTechLife I’m a pretty advanced tech guy but I’m more hardware. I hate software issues and this one is bugging the hell out of me. I’ve reported it to apple and I’ll try a beta update to see if it’ll fix it but at the end of the day if it doesn’t do what I want it to (use the HomePods as speakers) then I’ll have return it
@@AdamsTechLife I’ve managed to fix the issue. After resetting everything 3 times it was my home app. I reset that and set everything up and it works fine now without the airplay error issue
Does the Apple TV 2nd gen have the Match Dynamic Range and Match Frame Rate features like the 3rd gen Apple TV?
I'm not sure tbh. Apple's website should have that info.
Would buy it for £100 max, rather buy Nvidia Shield Pro can do so much more that I'm interested in.
Apple TV is fast though shame just be waste of my money, most of the features can't or won't ever use.

Better chip and faster performance. And smaller box and cheaper. So there’s a quite a reason to upgrade if you have the 1st gen 4k but if you bought second gen you should wait.
So does the 2022 version have thread and the 2021 version does not ?
2021 versions do, 2022 version comes in two versions one without thread and one with
I have the new Apple TV ordered. We have 4 (2017) and 3 (HD) models, The HD model is fine but you can't add any new apps like Plex.

Personally for me I have the last year model. The previous and honestly you should by the New tv only if you don’t have one yet. Now if u do have the previous one is not a real upgrade. Not worth it at all.

I have 1 question, hope u can clarify on this matter. What if i connect this apple tv with LED TV that dont have dolby vision&atmos. Is it this apple tv can make the tv support dolby vision&atmos content?

Dolby atom/vision works with compatible tv's and soundbars. if the tv doesn't support it, then the Apple TV can't display the higher quality video/audio it'll just be standard quality. Hope this helps.
I have the 64gb 4K hd 2021 Will be keeping this until it’s no longer supported. Got it at pawn shop for $60 last year with a 2017 remote. Bought a 2021 remote. It’s fast n beautiful pic. Had a 2012 previously for my iPhone. Now my firestick 4K is basically redundant. Except for filmplus & Firefox browser. Apple TV needs a browser

I couldn’t agree more if your just steaming at 99 bucks last years model is more than enough if you don’t have one and are going to play a lot of games tho then you may want more storage on this years models and if you have last years there’s no need to upgrade unless you want or download a lot more gms but if you have a 2017 or older model then it will def be a huge upgrade getting this years model ! Okay I bought Apple TV box 128GB 2022 last month and immediately it won’t work I mean I can’t move up down left right on tvOS with my remote. can’t turn it off or can’t turn it on, clink any movies like Netflix, paramount, UA-cam won’t play at all. Only working is sound volume up down and mute that’s it. Happens every day! I took out the power or take out HDMI cable and connect again and it works again BUT only temporary stopped all over again same problems I has take out power or hdmi again and again and again no improvement. My frustrations grew. So I decided to swap my old Apple TV box 2021 from my dad ( I sold him) and I gave him my new Apple TV 2022 and everything is working! I know my old Apple TV box 2021 never has problems. Even my new Apple TV box my dad use now is FINE no problems. How? He has old HDMI cable 2.0 and it’s works fine! It’s so weird. I’m so puzzled and baffled. I can’t answer the problems. It’s HDMI problems or what? If anyone knows or can answer the problems please tell me okay! Thanks 😊 kind regards

But now it’s normal now. After bug fix 16.2 then my brand new Apple TV 2022 is back to normal! I’m able to switch off and on and move around, can click and play all normal. Phew. I’m relief all is good mostly not perfect but mostly is working normally
Hi! i currently have the gen 1 apple tv 4k, and i am trying to decide between the 2nd gen or the new 3rd gen! I can get the 2nd gen refurb on apple site in CAN $149.99 for the 64gb model or for $50 more the gen 3 for $199.99 125gb model a $50 differance?
IMO, no. But it depends if paying $50 gives you features you may want. This video explains what’s new compared to previous versions.

The lip sync is terrible on this thing. I have my hard wired and it’s still buffers . When I switch to wifi it works better . Paid extra for wired and it’s trash .

Completely disagreed with you, if you are not login the wifi then it will always preferred the LAN always. Because I have not save my WIFI password then how it will auto switched? regarding remote finding and night laminations are not a part of TV. we need to focus only picture quality and performance. May be you are not liking but we like a lot. Its a personal preference. Apple people are not idiots to make a such product as chiniz products.
The Apple TV will choose LAN over WiFi when steaming, yes. But HomeKit doesn’t give priority of a LAN device than WLAN device. Picture quality varies by brand, tv model, and etc. this is all explained in the video :)
For the HomeKit hub, you don’t get to choose which device can be your hub, lan or wlan.
I bought two Apple TV 4K but I haven't been able to download any application for two months because both devices keep saying that I can't connect to the App Store (Apple can't help with that). I recommend other products like the NVIDIA Shield.

It’s like if you was like a normal person and you would just spend the money and get it deal with it and watch TV instead of being picky, childish person there’s nothing wrong with the Apple TV’s. I’ve had the last generation 4K Apple TV for a while now and I’ve never had an issue with it really is black screen, delay, issues, and everything that everybody’s been complaining about. I think you guys just aren’t happy with what you got and you just want to take it back. Got to get something else just not happy. It was so spoiled growing up. Have to have the perfect thing when it comes down to I guess when you grow up, having nothing, you respect more things than the fucking people that have everything given to them with a silver spoon like life’s not good enough for them

A backlit remote is a stupid idea. Who wants their remote lighting up while trying to watch a movie?
The video shows when the light is on, it’s not on all the time.
I would like a light up option. But not at the price Apple would want for that. However I would like a beep or retrieve feature like he mentioned in the video
I have the 4th gen non HD, bought the new. Honestly, it was a pain to set up and adds no features at all. new remote? Who cares. Smaller size? Who cares. USBC charging remote? Who cares. Faster chip? milliseconds to load content? Who cares…Honekit?…don’t use it.
