- Sony HDR-CX130 in low light mode, vs. Gen 1 AMT Night Star, vs. Gen 3 A/N PVS-14 viewed from my backyard around on a cloudy night in December. There was actually a bit too much light out for the PVS-14 (I probably should have turned the gain down a bit), but this should give you an idea the difference between a cameras low light mode, vs a gen 1 night vision, vs a gen 3 night vision. Note: none of these devices were using infrared illumination.

Thanks, helps in making a decision.
Best practical video about nightvision. I have a sony 0 lux handicam and i want to use like scope..
Thanks for the video..
21 second mark.... slightly higher pitch than my tinnitus. For those of you that don't suffer from it, imagine THAT sound ALL the time, especially when you're trying to relax and go to sleep.
Yes, it's the CX130 recording through a PVS-14
lol! i thought something attacked you at the end! XD
Really would like to see a video that doesn't have such crappy focus. would be nice...some day. maybe..if people knew they could focus their camera.
Chill he just want to show us the difference he’s new
So what is the gen 3 night vision? Is it still the cx130?
I have a 200 dollar armasight gen1. Not too bad specially with moonlight or a ultrafire and streamlight IR flashlight.
What is the gen 3
Here's a video comparing Gen 1, Gen 3 and a 640 thermal. All of three have a 1x magnification and a clear sky with full moon, so that evens out all three equipments for their optimum performance.Part 1m.ua-cam.com/video/xIaaN4jg6j4/v-deo.html
and Part 2m.ua-cam.com/video/xv5RqzzK7dE/v-deo.html
Thanks, now I can see my Sightmark Digital scope is better than gen 3 and 1/5th the expense.
There is not a chance, again, ZERO chance that a digi-nv outperforms a Gen 3 NOD of any kind. It may be better (for some) THAT it's 1/5th the expense, but it's not "better AND 1/5th the expense".
Says you
Annnnd pretty much EVERYONE else, besides you. If that's good 'nuff for you though, fine. But it would be cooler if you prove it with a video of the max gain and range you can get out of it with no IR, and only stars out.
Now try the Handycam with nightshot.
my gen 1 works really well :) I wouldn't change it for the world
What do you have?
+Braedon Culler p80
In other words night and day
That camera really picks up the gen one tube whining.
The gen one was clealry the best optic.
What's it call someone help
The PVS-14 is almost $3000.00
Yikes
Over $4000 if you go with a top end tube
Dan Woerner or build your self a cascade gen1 night vision that has light gain simmilar to som gen3 nvgs for a fraction of a price ;)
Klemen Meglic Correct! I have some videos on my channel of these 3 stage gen 1 tubes
itakeyourphoto heh i also have som videos of them :D.... ive made about 5 of those nvgs... we use them in airsoft... my next project will be to fuze thermal and nvg... :D
more like gen-0.... My Gen-1 PNV-57E Soviet tanker goggles is many times better than that thing.... But that AMT Night Star has issues judging from the spot in the picture... Looks like it has seen bright lights for extended periods shining through the pinhole in the lens cap....
gen3 is fucking expensive and as results of US export law can't buy in my country
Harder Germany makes them
