It was interlaced video rather than progressive frame like much of what we see today. Im those days “lines of resolution” was a big thing to watch for when purchasing a camcorder.

People pay a lot of money to have their crisp video converted into old classic style. Cheaper and better to just record directly through a VHS camera on an old tape.
You could probably get a few people together, electrical engineer and computer science guy, for example. Then reverse-engineer. You could find similar computer chips... the magnetic tape stuff, you would have to get maybe a CNC machinist... and maybe a chemist to make more tape polymers. It's all doable but there's no "economy of scale."

Something about peoples looks and the way they dressed obviously made a difference, but i could easily tell those videos were shot recently even if i had no prior knowledge that they were. People today just look different structurally.
