I met David Gilmour in 1984. He gave me an autographed album. I shook both of his hands (he smiled) I told him he is the "Master Of The Stratocaster". I asked him to describe his playing style, he said..... "I strike a note, bend it, shake it, and then release it".... YES he does, better than anyone else ever did.

Pink Floyd's 1973 "Dark Side of the Moon" album was on the top 50 best selling album for 17 years straight. You must listen to the whole 43 minute album because it's practically one song about birth, life struggles, and finally death. Thumbs up for your reaction.

You NEED to listen to the album in its entirety from start to finish......to REALLY appreciate it. By listening to the individual tracks ( if you're finding them on UA-cam....) .....you're missing out on the transitions from one song to the next. That's where a lot of the magic happens. Especially true with 'Dark Side of the Moon', 'Wish You Were Here', & 'The Wall'. The segues between each song. 'The Wall' is like an entire opera. It will make sense, when you try it.

Bro, you’re my hero. The fact that someone at 18 yrs old during the time of this reaction loves Pink Floyd as much as we did at your age and defined a generation and you recognize it’s the pinnacle of music-can’t get better than this instrumentally or lyrically and without faux modern technology. I’m 54 going on 55 in September and your reaction to Bob Seger’s Night Moves drove me here. A nostalgic song about young love that was the song of the summer back in ‘76 while I was at sleep away camp hearing it blast from one of my counselor’s transitor radios in my bunk all summer long and bringing back memories of the summer I danced with a girl for the first time at a social. If you want to hear Seger’s best live vocal listen to “Turn the Page” live! You give us hope that this new generation understands and appreciates the music, bands and artists that came before!

It’s so awesome to see someone young like yourself really appreciate “real” music like Pink Floyd and other classic rock sounds from the 60’s,70’s and 80’s. Not the crap they call music today. You are correct when you said “Comfortably Numb” as well as some other Pink Floyd songs put you ( and myself) in an almost dreamlike and what I call a hypnotic like state of mind! Loved your reaction. The only thing you forgot to comment on about this song is the lyrics. Granted it was your first time listening to it. It was many years and thousands of times later that I was able to get all of the lyrics figured out. Remember that it came out before Google and Before Computers (B.C.). That said, I've been listening to this song and this album since it came out in 1973. With the advent of cd's, I've often left Dark Side of the Moon in my car's cd player for months at a time. In the past several years, I've alternated Dark Side with Wish You Were Here with the latter slightly edging out being my favorite of the two. Both are seamless, meaning when they end that seem to start again seamlessly. Absolutely incredible for long distance driving for hours and hours at a time. Almost 50 years of listening to these albums, they never get old. They get better with age. For example, this song "Time" has a different meaning to me now that I'm on the downhill descent of my life than it did when I was a young buck of 19 years old. It also had different meanings to me in my life in my 20s, 30s, 40s, 50, and now in my 60s. It is a music masterpiece even more profound than the Mona Lisa because the subject matter is always me, the listener and, as the listener, as the years go by my life experiences begin to add up and in doing so adds important events in my life to the lyrics.
When the song ended, you were a little disappointed and wanted more. This song is just one part of the whole album. This is what was called a "concept album." Think of it like a book. This song was like picking up a book and just reading the third chapter. The album was designed to be listened to in its entirety from beginning to end. That's an alien concept to the music being made today and which is played on the radio. In the 1970s, Rock stations used to play the whole albums. Not just single songs. Back then, the only things on the FM dial were a few classical music stations and a couple of Rock stations where the disc jockey could play anything they wanted anytime they wanted to with very few commercial breaks. All of the popular music was on a ton of different AM stations from one end of the dial to the other.
I recommend that you do a reaction of the Dark Side of the Moon album from beginning to end to get the full effect and complete understanding of the album Heck, I'm still listening to the album almost 50 years now and I still find new things in the music. Afterwards, I also recommend that you react to their album "Wish You Were Here." Trust me, it is an experience like no other.
Best wishes on your channel. Really enjoy seeing someone like you getting into Pink Floyd. By the way, I just asked my wife of 40 years to get me a Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon t shirt for Father's Day.

I first heard this album in 1975. Hey! Wait til' you hear 'Dogs' ( off their 'Animals' album...) The full album is 'Pigs On The Wing' ( a short reprise at the end of the album too.....like bookends...) 'Dogs', 'Pigs-3 Different Kinds', and 'Sheep'. 'Dogs' is a 17 minute track. The album was released in 1977. I remember where I was the first time I heard that one too. With headphones & sitting in a dark room. Perhaps a little weed as well. A MASTERPIECE. 'Animals'.

Remember that 73 was also around the time when affordable stereo Hi-Fi systems hit the marketplace. Can you imagine what it was like when your dad returned from the shop with one, a pair of headphones, and a copy of Dark Side of The Moon? To say that heads were permanently blown, would be an understatement. Who needed a NASA space rocket when you could visit the Dark Side of the Moon and come home again in little more than an hour, without leaving your mothers couch.

I've been losing faith in the tastes of the youth mainly because I could see that they were getting the short end of the talent stick by being fed the same kind of garbage over and over. But to see someone as youthful as you understanding that and recognizing the gems of such an amazing era of music as the 60s and 70s, it just restores so much hope for me. I remember hearing Floyd for my first time at probably close to your age and with the aid of some hallucinogenics back in the day...the Floyd dream experience was deliberate and well constructed. Dark Side of the Moon was THE album that transformed and elevated Pink Floyd from a very popular psychedelic acid rock band into a super-group overnight! I was 18 when this album came out and was already a fan going back to The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Each album was getting so much better that a lot of us thought something like DSOTM would break out from this band. And they did with Dark Side! At the end of "Time", you said "That's it?" LOL!!... and you're correct my friend... that wasn't it!! The whole album (all progressive rock band's really) are meant to be heard beginning to end as many advise. There's nothing wrong about hearing a song highly recommended, and doing an awesome reaction video as yours because I, we had the same reaction back in '73! LOL! But I highly recommend you start at the beginning of DSOTM and do Speak To Me, Breath In the Air and On the Run together that totals to abt 7.5 minutes. Time would be next that you've now done. Then the incredible Great Gig In the Sky that will fill in for you what was missing at the end of Time. That would complete Side 1. Then do your vids starting Side 2 with Money and before you know it, you'll have their most seminal album in your video library. And when you hear the albums and do the vids this way, you will clearly understand when we strongly advise doing ALL concept albums end to end. @ 8:33 If you think listening to Time puts you in a dream state, do the album beginning to end and you may end up in a temporary coma!! LOL!! Don't worry, you'll snap out of it after a few minutes or a half hour, maybe! 😁 If the few PF videos I see are all you've heard of PF... man, dude you ain't heard nothing yet! Awesome reaction and assessment at the end! David Gilmour is that awesome signature guitarist. Have you listened to any Yes? ✌️😎

Well Done! I've enjoyed your PF reactions. Watching you takes me back 50 years to when I first heard DSOTM. I've never forgotten the experience and it's fun watching you react the same way.

Epic is a word that I use to describe Pink Floyd. It is life changing. I find it very uplifting to see people discover and appreciate Pink Floyd for the first time. Great reaction! I’ll be back for more. Peace my friend. ✌🏼

Exactly! When you asked wow is that it?! Take the Dark Side of The Moon, start to finish..... They knew you want it to never end, so you just go from song to song, revealing whole story, thru the magic of the album. Enjoy!

Richard Wright (synthesizer) was huge part of their sound. Along with his great voice on backup. Sorely missed and why Pink Floyd can be no more. RIP

Take the time to listen to the whole 'Dark Side Of The Moon' album from the opening heartbeat to the closing heartbeat, everything in between is a story that grabs you by the collar and pulls you in...Also dip into 'Echoes' and ' One Of These Days' from the 1972 live Pompeii concert👌✌

35 years ago, Pink Floyd also changed my life when I started listening to their albums The Wall, DSOTM and Wish You Were Here. 35 years have passed and I hear you say the exact same thing that happened to me so long ago. I think only great songs have the power to do that. There is a world before and after PF, don't you agree?

I feel so privileged to have been in my 20s when Dark Side of the Moon came out in '73 - I've been able to enjoy it for almost 50 years. It never fails to impress - as does Pink Floyd's "Pulse".
Our music is safe with people like you enthusing about it. Tell your kids about it, too ;-)
    My heartfelt thanks to you.

I'm 61 and the very first 78 rpm record I bought was "Dark Side of The Moon". The cover art from it is etched above my name on black marble. The Funeral Parlor has a CD I made of all Pink Floyd that is to be played at my Wake. Listen and take something from it. Your life is very short. Welcome, you've been "Floyded"!! The narrow beam of pure, clean innocent light traveling upward towards Life, the Pyramid. You travel through life picking up experiences along the way. Then you leave life full of the color's that represent those life experiences. The brighter the light's, the brighter your life was. I'm dying of two Cancer's, Non-Hodgekin's Lymphoma and Lung Cancer. I have no Spleen and no left Lung to Cancer and I have nine Stent's.

I was about the age you are now when I first heard Pink Floyd, and my life was changed forever. I don't disparage pop music, which has a place, but I didn't know music could be like this. Since then I've gone full-in on progressive rock (Genesis, Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmer, King Crimson, etc.) and haven't looked back. In fact, this music helped me appreciate a ton of the other kinds of bands and music I've heard since. The start was Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon! Keep it up!
