When you hear it again 20, 30 years later -- and especially if you have regrets (who doesn't?), it's a wholly different animal; Absolutely gut-wrenching

I'm so touched by those who cried in this video, especially the young women. I was once a young woman but now am an old one. I heard this song when I was young, and I thought I understood it then. I understand it now!
Pink Floyd cannot be classified in any genre. Pink Floyd's music is ... Pink Floyd. Its an unique experience, where emotions, all your senses and your imagination blends with what you hear in a very very deep level. This album is their magnus opus and is considered as the best music album in the history of modern music.
So happy to see so many young reactors loving the music of my teenage years. They were awesome 50 years ago and still have the power to blow your mind. Thank you all for understanding the meaning!
A really high quality set of headphones,a dark comfortable place to lay down and chill, and a little buzz from whatever your flavour is. Listen to the whole album from star to finish. My dad was a Pink Floyd fan, and so am I. I still have the vinyl album. Dark Side of the Moon is the best album ever made. This is my favorite song on this album. When you're young, you don't think about time. You have all the time in the world. I'm 56 now. Where did my youth go? All the things I wanted to do but never had time for? It's so sad. This song is so beautiful and so deep.
Time, It's hard to believe its been 50 years I have been listening to this song. I'm turning 62 in a week and this music is what we listen to in the 70's and all the other great bands from that era. But it's great to see young people discovering this music again. Keep listening and open up your minds as I do with the new music today.
I truly believe that this is the greatest song of all time, and based on the fact that I'm still 16, and everyone in the comments is saying it only gets better as you age, I don't think my opinion will ever change. ❤️🔥
You are in for a ride, my fellow earth traveler ! Enjoy, take your time ! I'm 73. There is more to come for you. Less for me ! Just keep rocking! Bald Bob
By the time "The Wall" came out I was in my 3rd year of College. It was on constantly over the summer.... Blaring out of dorm room windows all over the campus. I got so burnt out on it. I'm in my 60's and still listen to Meddle, Dark Side and WYWH. Rarely if ever do I listen to the Wall. To me it was album that destroyed Pink Floyd as we had known them. Too much ugliness and not enough beauty (Comfortably Numb being the one exception).
So much soul it makes my heart soar to see there is still hope. My dad is almost 70 and this song takes me back when he was your alls age and I was much much younger. We would just sit and listen together. It resonates now that I’m almost 50.
No matter what, it still blows my mind when watching people who never ever heard of pink Floyd. I understand it's the age thing, but it still blows my mind
I've been trying to figure out what makes so many people get so emotional and cry to Pink Floyd's music. Is it the subject matter? Is it the melodies and beautiful backing vocals? Is it David's singing voice and otherworldly guitar? Is it that it's just so damn good? ..... YES!!! Just yes.
I have been listening to this masterpiece for 50 years…trust me on this when I say that the feelings and emotions y’all just felt NEVER go away …. it’s simply the greatest album by the greatest band in the history of the world. ❤️
As a 55-year-old who's loved Pink Floyd his whole life. I'm so happy to see younger people listening to it. And really appreciating it. Good on you, folks
I’ve been listening to this song since was 13. I cry almost every time during the solo. seeing other similar reactions really made my day. Thank you for this. And thank you pink Floyd
I find this montage of Floyd quite revealing to see such an emotional release to the many listeners on the video. Some to actual tears and others you can see on their faces the inner contemplation of the reality of life and how quickly it has passed them by to this point in their lives. I'm 67 years old now. The sun has raced up behind me many times now and I am certainly so much closer to death these days. This and many others was the music of my generation and to see how you youngsters are so very moved by music like this and jamming on in the background giving it such high praise makes me laugh almost ironically because when my generation listens to your music we can't wait to turn it off in disgust for the most part because we have actually been exposed to real musical talent over fifty years ago and watching your enlightened awareness and enjoyment is of no surprise to us. Enjoy away and be transformed. On the brighter side music arrangement and composition is infinite from 8 simple notes there's still much music to come and I believe that the greatest music ever written hasn't even been composed yet. I will probably be long gone by then, dead and buried, but I already envy the living inhabitants of that time for what is yet to come for them to enjoy, experience and savor. Post add on comment: You kids have one very major advantage. This all was done in the past and it's been recorded for all time. You can listen to it any time you like. Sadly that future music is off limits to me and all us other old farts.
I used to listen to this brilliant album as a teenager and now at 61 it means even more. Floyd are in a league of their own, and take you places in your mind like a mystical journey. I will love them until I die and my son knows that Comfortably Numb is to be played at my funeral. I am just so thankful that I was born when I was, to have this music in my life from a young age, and still have it today. It is Timeless!

As of August 2, 2024, Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon has charted on the Billboard top 200 chart for 990 weeks. Not continuously because it was released in 1973 - but that's a total of 18 + years on the charts. It only dropped off the chart a staggering 15 years after it came out - but then has gotten back on the charts sporadically. It's rediscovered year after year. Just incredible. Can you imagine anything released today that could have that kind of staying power??
As a 57 year old, my recollection of this song is when my older brother got the original LP pressing with all the artwork inside, and we played it for days. A few lucky people purchased the quadrophonic mix (engineered by Allan Parsons) and owned a rare quadrophonic pioneer system to experience dark side of the moon in all it's original perfection.
I discovered this album when I was 7 years old. I knew back then it was something special. I'm 57 now and I still learn something new every time I listen to this musical masterpiece.
That's so cool man! I totally feel the same. Thank you for wording it properly. And we can all just get along listening to music? That's just beautiful right there.
I have already commented on this video, but upon a second watch/listen, the superb nature of this collage deserves much praise. This is the greatest Reaction Videos Channel video ever produced. The combination of the song and it's lyrics, the trance-like expressions of the various reactors, and the comments of the same meld together to create a very engrossing experience. Thanks again to the creator of this marvelous video.
I was too young to cry the first time I heard this song but, now, I get it. Time is just.... different the older you get. And, yes, WonderMomma is amazeballs.
They need to follow this with great gig in the sky. This song is a setup for that song. Talking about your life leading up to the end. Then great gig carries you over.
Time. The one thing in life that is not our friend. From the moment we are conceived, the clock starts counting down. What we DO with the limited time we have, well, THAT'S the conundrum.
I've listened to Pink Floyd my whole life, this was my Neena's favorite song and to listen to it now is very cathartic, still gives me the chills and goosebumps
The song Time is an example of that perfect song that melds musicianship, skill, emotions and perfect iambic pentameter poetic style and the theme of life passing you by in a flash into one masterpiece for all time. I remember having these same reactions when I first heard this song...... and that sublime lead guitar of David Gilmour.
If I could give anyone any advice at all, it would be to make the most of your time. I have blinked and gone from 15 to 55. I'll blink again and go from 55 to...hopefully 80. But it honestly feels like yesterday I was a teenager watching Queen live at Wembley (when in the UK playing cricket for a season), or Pink Floyd, Dire Straits or Genesis live in Auckland...Pearl Jam and U2 in Brisbane....it has gone SO fast. When you are a kid, a year is a large percentage of your life. Time seems to drag and you just want to grow up and be able to do the things that adults can. Now a year is 1/55th of my life, so a year seems so short and the time absolutely flies by. It gets faster and faster people...make the most of it. For me, what I thought was important in my teens, 20s, 30s - even 40s to an extent, turned out to be completely irrelevant in the scheme of things. Relationships and experiences are all that really means anything at this stage.
I was blessed to have seen Pink Floyd. 1994 Pontiac Silverdome. My wife was 7mo. pregnant with our son, so she held a pillow over her tummy when it got really loud. It was the only time they played the entire Darkside of the Moon album in concert since the Darkside tour in the 1970s. In an interview, Gilmore and Wright said they did it because we were the best audience of their entire tour. Of the hundreds of concerts I have seen, Pink Floyd is number one top of the list. 😊✌️
14 years on the Billboard charts and the record hasn't come close to being broken! Pink Floyd is timeless! Their music is enjoyed by multiple generations continuing to this day! They are some of the most gifted musicians/artists that every lived! Thank you for taking the time to make this video, it was AWESOME!
"Hanging on in quiet desperation" describes so much of my life, and has ever since I heard this song thirty years ago. Such a perfect encapsulation of that fear of everything passing you by.
This is why music will be forever. It's powerful and all encompassing. It reaches everyone regardless of race, culture, background or belief. People of all faiths, no faith, rich, poor and from any culture can hear the same song and get the same reaction. I am so happy as animals we were able to develop this, it says a lot about us as humans. It's also been shown that other animals recognize and enjoy music as well. Corvids, great apes (includes us) and even dogs show a reaction to different types of music. It's wild that it's basically just math, math made beautiful!
I was 13 years old when I first heard this album. Some older neighbors played it all the time and I was at their place all the time, so I have it ingrained in my brain, This and Neil Diamond - Hot August night. Those two albums led me to take up the drums. I still listen to Dark Side of the Moon now 51 years later and I still play drums but only for my own enjoyment. Thanks, WonderMommaOG. TC 65 years young :)
Dad asked this to be played at his funeral - it was heavy, as Dad was a heavy dude . He shared this music with me as a kid and I am eternally grateful . Brought tears to my eyes seeing folks being emotionally effected by this .
There’s so much emotion for me when I listen to Pink Floyd. I was raised on the 70’s since my birth early 80’s. I literally find myself balling going down the highway because of so many memories just flood my mind. Division bell album is my absolute favorite Album, but every album is absolutely amazing.
I have seen majority of these reactors in this montage. Most of them already reacted to other Pink Floyd's songs. I have been a fan of Pink Floyd since early 70's. The album, Dark Side of the Moon, in which this song is on this album. Next year, this song and album will be celebrating its 50 Anniversary. When it was released in 1973, this album broke some records. From 1973 to 1988 or over 700 weeks, DSOTM stayed on Billboard Charts. Guinness Book of World Records gave this distinction. I just check online; this album is still on certain charts from other countries.
It is definitely one of a kind. One you can never tire of. I've heard it many times, but as you can imagine, making these videos requires me to breakdown each song in every detail. I'm noticing little things that I've never heard before and that, in and of itself, makes doing these videos very worthwhile. Like someone else said here, this song meaning to me has changed from my childhood to now. Like a fine wine, I grow to appreciate it more over time. Thanks for your comment!
-"Time", the song, when absorbed into the psyche creates a type of 'spiritual' awakening in the fullest sense, but if only listened to casually it still provides a 'spiritual' experience to a lesser degree. Going on 50 years old now, generations not yet born when this was newly released, are finding it difficult to express in words the emotional tug of this master work, substituting language with only their tears.

This is a song that drops you into a trance then punches you in the soul.
Indeed. Well said.
so nicely put...!

Always fun to see the young generation really enjoy the music we grew up with. This song is fifty years old !!!
Unreal
Just enjoy Young ones ! 60 years old and thankful that this is the soundtrack of my life ❤
I like how the mood changes for almost all reactors after "...you missed the starting gun". Because that really is the heart of the song
Agree!! Alan Parsons Project comes in second...
Id say its bluesy space rock
take a listen to the early stuff by Syd Barret
Complete excellence from beginning to end this album is a pure masterpiece. 67 years old and can remember hearing it for the first time in 73 .😊
So happy to see so many young reactors loving the music of my teenage years. They were awesome 50 years ago and still have the power to blow your mind. Thank you all for understanding the meaning!
Give our music a chance, Jesus
Exactly what I said but you said it a whole lot more eloquently
A really high quality set of headphones,a dark comfortable place to lay down and chill, and a little buzz from whatever your flavour is.
Listen to the whole album from star to finish.
I am 58 and been listening to this album since 75( released in 73)
If you are not emotional by the end, you missed it.
Cheers
I am 73 ! Lol ! I bought the original album 3 times ! (vinyl). I threw parties, no biggie ! But they all mysteriously disappeared. No other albums were ever "borrowed".
We were a bunch of 17 year Olds livin' in The Motor City.
To the Band ;
What a blessing !

That was me at 14 yrs old and I’ve carried that song with me all the way to 64. Amazing.
My grandfather is the one who started the love of Pink Floyd, passed it down to my children. So 4 generations and growing. 😁
Time, It's hard to believe its been 50 years I have been listening to this song. I'm turning 62 in a week and this music is what we listen to in the 70's and all the other great bands from that era. But it's great to see young people discovering this music again. Keep listening and open up your minds as I do with the new music today.
This is before my time but they have become my favorite band. Their music is timeless and the way it makes me feel is indescribable.
Bald Bob
I remember in my 20s, all my friends just constantly wanted to hear The Wall, but I couldn't stop playing Dark Side.
They both, in their own right, are magical for different reasons for me.
@@WonderMommaOG I love these montages and hope you make more.
@@j.kevvideoproductions.6463 I was just about to start high school. But yeah it was pervasive.
Did you ever line up The Wall with Fantasia? We hit it spot on once and my mind was blown!
Notice how the song is halfway over before you realize it has really started....like life itself.
That’s the beauty of Pink Floyd…EVERYTHING is done for a reason.
Profound
What a great comment and truth!
"Remember that there is only one important time and it is Now. The present moment is the only time over which we have dominion."
-Leo Tolstoy
I tell people this all the time. You can’t change the past, you can’t foresee the future. You can only influence the present.
“Racing around to come up behind you again.” For older folks. Tears earlier, and now stronger. This timeless masterpiece.
That solo is the single most beautiful piece of guitar ever played
I hope I'll never get tired of this song
Pink Floyd takes you on a journey. No other band sounds like them. Genius.
So much soul it makes my heart soar to see there is still hope. My dad is almost 70 and this song takes me back when he was your alls age and I was much much younger. We would just sit and listen together. It resonates now that I’m almost 50.
It's so beautiful to see these reactions so simlar to the reaction I had over 40 years to hearing Floyd. Human is human.
"I hope this Song dont get me on an emotional Ride..." Best joke of the Year. This is Pink Floyd !!!
Is it that it's just so damn good? ..... YES!!! Just yes.
Time is the undefeated champion! Didn't believe it when I was young and strong.
Ain't no music like the 70s and will never be again. This song in particular was an out-of-body experience.
David Mazon For real!
I can't believe y'all never heard this song . Good to hear so many people come with the appreciation. Shine on you crazy diamonds. ❤️💯
♥️♥️♥️
I have been listening to this masterpiece for 50 years…trust me on this when I say that the feelings and emotions y’all just felt NEVER go away …. it’s simply the greatest album by the greatest band in the history of the world. ❤️
The emotion this song elicits never ceases to amaze me. For those aren’t aware. The album MUST be listened to start to finish. You’re welcome😊
And this is why Pink Floyd is legendary! I’ve been to a lot of concerts in my life but Pink Floyd was an experience but can never be matched!
As a 55-year-old who's loved Pink Floyd his whole life. I'm so happy to see younger people listening to it. And really appreciating it. Good on you, folks
Me too
I've seen them two times in concert... I was crying - a part of my youth 🙂
I’ve been listening to this song since was 13. I cry almost every time during the solo. seeing other similar reactions really made my day. Thank you for this. And thank you pink Floyd
Music makes you cry because it touches your soul
@@willynillylive.,....n o, dear bro ~ soul is not relevant / it's the HEART ❤️❤️❤️😀💎🎸🎵🎶😇,!!! BERNIE GERMANY 😁
Well said. I just turned 50 and feel the same way. Love seeing their reactions. I do love the newer music too. Some of it. Lol.
@@karenglenn6707 We had such amazing artists to listen to as kids, didn't we?
@@contucker9413 I am Australian and was also able to see the start of AC/DC with Bon Scott at least 5 times as a teenager. The music that we grew up,with was to me the best time. Melbourne had a brilliant live music scene so we saw great Aussie bands every weekend along with Queen and Simple Minds to name a few. Never got to see Floyd which is a huge regret. No auto tuned crap, all excellent musicians, we were so spoiled. Wish I could go back and do it again, but don’t we all. Best wishes. X
As a 24 year old, I just gotta say thank you for your wisdom. I truly hope I'll get to be your age, and perhaps pass on wisdom to the next generation
67 years old here and this song that I have listened to has a lot more meaning now than when I was young. Very happy to see these young people react to this wonderful song. ❤❤
I had nervous breakdown on my 35th birthday, because I literally lost 10 years to being a drunk. I barely remember anything from 25-35 & it scared me to the point of a complete meltdown.
This song is truly important 🙏
Brother, 35 is still young, just be glad for your meltdown and start running. For various reasons some people get to the very end of life and realize they wasted all those days one by one on things that didn't matter. You got this bro!
@@stephenwhite5444 Cheers for the kind words mate, and I do hear what you are saying.
I'm glad to have woken up now, than when it's too late... then, some don't wake up at all.
We all sweat things that don't matter.
We all place importance on stuff that doesn't matter too.
We are a silly bunch.
I appreciate the msg ✌
@@bennysmith2007 I too, want to commend you on surviving. Surviving is more difficult than the very thing you're surviving. Know that as hard as the experience was... it will be one of your best teachers and build you into a better version of yourself. All hardship and trauma does that. You have plenty of time to keep evolving as the years ebb and flow. It will fly by, so let go of that which you cannot control directly, or it will control you. Acknowledge your achievements in getting through it all. You deserve it. Thanks for sharing your story, sorry I'm getting to it a little late.
Damn!
I had a somewhat similar experience. Wasted time. But we must look forward and make the most of what is ahead. Peace be with you.
All these beautiful people sharing the moment with this song. People, learn to love each other before it is too late!
That's so cool man! I totally feel the same. Thank you for wording it properly. And we can all just get along listening to music? That's just beautiful right there.
Amen, brother.
Wow, thank you so much, what an amazing compliment. Glad you found my channel!
I was too young to cry the first time I heard this song but, now, I get it. Time is just.... different the older you get. And, yes, WonderMomma is amazeballs.
I love that word! Thank you so much.
Listening to this now at 50 hits much different then when I listened as a teen. Time is precious and waits for no one.
Pink Floyd is a ride: insightful, beautiful, emotional, hypnotic, introspective.
They reveal human condition.
Thumbs up if you're over 50 and love that this song will love forever.
I was there..... 3000 years ago. Seeing Young generations apreciating this music it's like a win !
15 actually
"Hanging on in quiet desperation" describes so much of my life, and has ever since I heard this song thirty years ago. Such a perfect encapsulation of that fear of everything passing you by.
I am 60....it's nice to see the younger generation finally listening to REAL music.
Agreed 💯💯
This is why music will be forever. It's powerful and all encompassing. It reaches everyone regardless of race, culture, background or belief. People of all faiths, no faith, rich, poor and from any culture can hear the same song and get the same reaction. I am so happy as animals we were able to develop this, it says a lot about us as humans. It's also been shown that other animals recognize and enjoy music as well. Corvids, great apes (includes us) and even dogs show a reaction to different types of music. It's wild that it's basically just math, math made beautiful!
Out of Pink Floyd's many incredible tunes, I think this is their best. Majestic but raw, with lyrics that speak to everyone.
What Pink Floyd did between Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall is truly mind blowing.
MUSIC IS THE DIVINE UNIFIER! NOW FLOYDS ... 'GREAT GIG IN THE SKY'!
* consequitive weeks, actually
People are still buying it. It's timeless
Have loved this song for 50 years, these folks did well, explaining why I love it.
Cranbrook institute and planetarium , in Michigan used to do laser shows in the early 1980s to this entire album! I was young and my 50+ years old father took me at my request multiple times.
lol he loved old school big bands, but did it for me.
Loud and beautiful, remember it like yesterday.
This is the best reaction video I've seen. I'm familiar with all the reactors which is cool to see them all together. Great work and Pink Floyd is PRICELESS. THANKS
Pink Floyd is more addictive than drugs ❤❤❤
"If you love life don't waste time because time is what life is made of" ~ Bruce Lee
The older I get the harder this damn song hits, but you can't help but marvel at how good it is. Gilmour is a god on guitar, and Water's lyrics slay me.
This is the greatest album ever written. Every song has a deeper meaning the more you understand it. And if you really want your mind blown watch the dark side of Oz!!!
It's a New Year's ritual for me, the first thing I do after the ball drops, and they're done singing Auld Lang Syne, is play Time. It puts life in perspective, and every passing year it hits home harder and harder. This song is a masterpiece.
Once you hear Pink Floyd, you never stop.
I saw them live at the big O in Montreal unbelievable. 80.000 people .
I’m old enough to say I was privileged enough to see Floyd on one of their last concerts ever in the US. THIS WAS THE MOST INCREDIBLE THING I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE💯💯💯💯..July 10,1994
Pink floyd great ,loved them in the 70s and turn it up now. Endlessly for ever.love the wall too.Used to love to smoke a little gongs and turn on black lights and listen to Pink Floyd, and enjoy.
Those perfectly pitched roto-toms at the beginning totally make that intro.
I’m 55 and I’ve known this song since I was a kid. I played the shit out of the cassette in the 80’s. But I have never really listened to the words. Today I was brought to tears watching others react. Thank you for putting this together. I’m glad that I actually listened this time. Love to all.
