I hit 33 last year, and after almost dying from Covid at 32, along with looking back at my life, I was profoundly depressed by what I had promised myself I would do, and what I haven't done. How I spoke to people, how I made people feel.....this song hits you in that place, it's a wake up call, that life can be over anytime, not just when you're old, and that we have to give 110% or else it will be too late. Life is fleeting, and the one chance we have, we have to take it....children grow up fast, we age fast, the world moves on.....don't just sit back and accept it.

I'm 68 but in the sixties our motto was "Do your own thing" so I would never resent young people doing theirs. I can give you my take. Do what you want when you're young. Experience everything you can travel, hang out with your friends go to concerts. Make a whole album of memories in your head. I only worked hard so I had the money to play hard. But don't let life pass you by. John Lennon said, "Life is what happens while you're busy doing something else." Have a good life and keep listening to the music. The song sinks in deeper and deeper with each year passing. Time doesn’t stop and we are here just for a short ride. Use it wisely, while you still can.
This is one of the most profound songs I've heard. I first heard in when I was about 13 or 14 years old, and even at that age, I knew I was listening to something important. I appreciate that you're taking time to think about the song. Although many of us Pink Floyd fans are picky about pausing, etc., I'm glad you're finding your way through this song in your own manner. You be you; I'll watch, and I thank you for appreciating music that means a lot to me and many others! P.S. That shaker sound you're hearing is actually a partially open high-hat. It's a great sound, and Nick Mason, although he's underrated as a drummer, is one of the most solid drummers in rock and roll.
Nick Mason on the percussion. One of the most under appreciated drummers of the era. Wasn’t very flashy, but his work formed the backbone and much of the feeling of their music.
This song came from one of Pink Floyd's iconic albums, Dark Side of the Moon in which was released in 1973 making next year as 50th Anniversary of its release. When this album was released, it stayed on Billboard Charts for over 700 weeks from 1973 to 1988. By doing this feat, Guiness Book of World Records recognized this album. Their live concerts are also iconic especially Pulse Concert.
There is no such thing as a wasted life, no one envy's you. We all are in the middle of living our life as it is. There is nothing that you can do that you weren't supposed to do. Whether you live a life of misery or live a life of excessive happiness, your life will end at the time that it does and all your hard work will mean nothing in the end... The key to happiness is to live in this moment, and know that there is no way for your life to have been any different than it was. When we suffer about what we wish or hope, that is the indicator that you are not in the present. I had an active busy life and was always fit and healthy. Owned several businesses and had all my later life plans set about how I was going to hike and travel the country in my motorhome. At 50 years old I was diagnosed with throat cancer, no, I never smoked or drank. Then a year after no cancer free diagnosis, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and it devastated my body, I can't hike, can't bike and don't drive. I was in a depression because all the thing I thought I would do and be at this stage of my life was a fantasy that I invented when I was younger. There are no shoulds and oughts, there is just what is.
This was made not long after the popular "spaghetti westerns" hit our screens in the late sixties and the intro always reminds me of Ennio Morricone's iconic music for them.
As an old fart who remembers when this album came out, I agree that you should not waste time. Also, the sound that you were trying to figure out was the drummer hitting the "high hat".
I don't even recall listening to this but I respect Pink Floyd because they made the song Another Brick in the Wall where they have a lyric that says teachers leave them kids alone and this is what we're dealing with in 2022 (had to edit because I'm old as f*** and realized it's 2022🙃😂😈)

A good clue to help understand this album is that it's main theme revolves around: “WHAT DRIVES PEOPLE CRAZY”. (BREATHE); If the performance required in life can drive people crazy. (ECLIPSE); Since our influence in this world comes down to what is within our reach, "All that you touch, see, taste, love, do, say, etc" then even though the brightness of the sun may be eclipsed by the darkness of the moon. But anyway, (I'll see you on the dark side of the moon).
Credit to this young lady for picking up on the Reggae vibe during the epic guitar solo. The bass and rhythm guitar are both playing on the off beat giving the song a subtle Caribbean vide. Great ear :)
You heard two tracks, Time & Breath Reprise. Did you notice the transition?....it's immediately after 'thought I'd something more to say' :). The whole album is like this, one big piece. You should watch the live version from Pulse 1994 - the drummer has colour changing drumsticks.
Young lady, you are where you are today because of all the innovations and sacrifices of those that came before you. Have a little respect and think before you say people wasted their younger yrs. Maybe your generation could do more and less game playing and the world would be better for it. Be safe, have fun. Oh my generation gave you all that computer stuff. Oh how do you like our music, real isn't it. LOL
But it's true. This song is a true. The voices start as an agreement with the text at the beginning of the song, then there is a revolt as if rebelling in the last moment of death. There are several moments of rupture with the text and then, calmly, it is surrendering to the fact, to the inevitable, a candle going out... Painful Revolting Cruel and Beautiful
Don't fret over people complaining about stopping during a solo. You should stop whenever you have a thought to share, most of us have heard it before.
Each time the sun comes around , you're one day closer to death(and shorter of breath) , whether your runnin' or idlin'. Life is so damn short , live it well. Not all old folks are jealous but most long for youth.
Back in the 70's many musical artists had a long intro to their songs. Unlike most reactors, you enjoyed it rather than showing anxiety and impatience. Well done, girl ...you are thinking about the lyrics!

You are doing the SAME exact thing as I did in 1979. Stopping the song, rewiring and listen to it again. And then before moving on, analyzing WTF you just heard. And in 200 years, someone or something will be dissecting it yet again. LMAO.

Credit to this young lady for picking up on the Reggae vibe during the epic guitar solo. The bass and rhythm guitar are both playing on the off beat giving the song a subtle Caribbean vide. Great ear :)
Yay! 😌
One of the most profound songs ever! Much love from the far north of New Zealand ❤❤
first time i've seen you guys , love it when i see younger people discovering older bands
Just so you keep getting yourself up and pushing forward.
Great reaction video you two! This is a classic from Pink Floyd... As a drummer, this was always fun to play.
LOL
Wow that went over your head.
Remember that when this song was released, the huge majority of people enjoying this were "under the influence".
But it's true. This song is a true. The voices start as an agreement with the text at the beginning of the song, then there is a revolt as if rebelling in the last moment of death. There are several moments of rupture with the text and then, calmly, it is surrendering to the fact, to the inevitable, a candle going out...
Painful
Revolting
Cruel
and
Beautiful
Never pause a gilmour solo
"Thanks" to Spotify & Co that you don't hear such great intros anymore...
His patience level is amazing omg 😂
Back in the 70's many musical artists had a long intro to their songs. Unlike most reactors, you enjoyed it rather than showing anxiety and impatience. Well done, girl ...you are thinking about the lyrics!
Highly recommend Pink Floyd "Comfortably Numb" Live from the 1984 Pulse Concert. Remember never interrupt a guitar solo! The last 5 minutes is a guitar solo like you will never witness again in your lifetime.
It's a heartbeat!!
You are doing the SAME exact thing as I did in 1979. Stopping the song, rewiring and listen to it again. And then before moving on, analyzing WTF you just heard.
Pretty freaking awesome if you asked me. And what year was this reaction made and posted?
This album is probably, one of the most dissected masterpieces ever made. And in 200 years, someone or something will be dissecting it yet again. LMAO.
Floyd is the most perfect music to get stoned to...✌️
edit for; Forgot to mention that this was an excellent reaction to this!
Am hearing everything you guys are saying and it's obvious that both you have been paying attention to life, am 62 years old and this awesome music was in when I was a teenager, and nope am not jealous of you guys at a matter of fact and happy for you both
Smoke less next reaction.
'...the tolling of the iron bell, calls the faithful to their knees.........' the church bells calling the faithful to prayer
i love watching first time reactions to Pink Floyd as my favorite band, and enjoyed your commentary. There are some great stuff out there. Try the live Pulse 1994 SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND there signature song of sorts, and MONEY. I'm not sure you're ready for my favorite live pulse concert song SORROW....but it's a ripper! if you want to see their concert closer where visual stimulation is crazy off the charts: RUN LIKE HELL.
Enjoy every day as if it were your last because it may be your last.
Thanks guys
Wanted to comment on your cussing, but remebered it's your show. So I'll just leave.
Pausing several times during the greatest guitar solo of all time?
The frequency of your pauses! Aaaaargh! 😫
The bells and ringing sounds at the beginning are sounds that were used in mechanical clocks, as is the Tick-toc Tick-toc sounds. Younger generation people have never heard the sounds of a wind-up clock or watch. If you did, you would fully understand the "Sounds of timekeeping devices".
Yea I think that’s Clint Eastwood on bongos , but is she going to blab thru the whole song ?
Yes ima blab all I want
Because they’re hurt that they didn’t do it. Success to someone who’s failing hurts the spirit. The anger is a way of the hurt person protecting themselves.
Mind. Blown. Y'all are not of your generation. This gave me hope in humanity. I prey that some CEO sees this and recognizes the potential in this future power couple.; gives them the opportunity to shine! What are the both of you doing now? I'm trying to start something at 49. If it becomes successful, I hope to find individuals of your caliber.
We are giving life 110%
You’re right in that this song has a hint of reggae to it in some parts like during the guitar solo :)
they weren't church bells but alarm clocks to start the song. alarm clocks - "time." get it?
dedicating your life to the service of others, to making a better world, isn't only the best way, its the ONLY way to live a worthy life. any other kind of life is a WASTED life. thanks for the video,
Floyd doesn't block, no need to pause.
All good observations guys,nicely said.
Just because you're old does not mean you did not live a great life trust me people that are 65 probably had a better life than your having right now. They probably had more fun when they were your age than you are
Obviously wasn’t talking about all old ppl.
@@waynekayla814 you certainly made it sound that way. Very offensive.
Obviously they are not aware what VA means.
Hey Guys, great show. I highly recommendation you try...1971 "Starship Trooper in 1080p HD by Yes". "This is like going a long journey music", although it 9:30 min. long, it's a musical masterpiece. It's like driving along on the highway by yourself, with the window down and embedding yourself with the sounds. It's make a 2 hours drive seem like it's over in 9:30 mins. ENJOY!
I had never heard the Ennio Morricone type intro until you mentioned it
But either way, just leaving y'all alot of comments and shit, but also letting yall know from someone who checks out reactions, that yall do a great service to humanity as a whole. And you have demonstrated your acute awareness for the given situation, correctly attributing not only the song's performance and impact, but also witnessing that realization coming into fruition before the eyes on youtube, or on video as a whole, makes ANYBODY happy, to completely agree on something wholeheartedly together on anything
If you 2 would've researched PF's earlier history. The first 500 words of this video would've never been said so I'm scanning on. Nice material yall know Nothing about. OBVIOUSLY
Other than your weird angry age-ist bias, the endless interruptions, and your smug droning on and on and on throughout - enough to make most viewers forget what song they were even listening to. Great reaction. NOT!!
These two, particularly the female, seem to love to hear themselves talk above all else.
Dude is just sittin there thinking, girl if you don't stop being extra
Just a suggestion: keep the sermons for after the song finishes its sermon. The song gives the sermon and you react, imo. 👍
Suggested answer to first question... Conception then birth to wasted time which'll pass then death. Just a fort innit?
Y’all seem so confused at the beginning 😂😂
They’re clocks. The name of the song is time.
How else are you supposed to hear time?
Never thought of it that way
WELL THIS IS AWKWARD:( I like you Guys and YES we DO want you to react and your analysis and breakdown of the lyrics were very good, HOWEVER..you had no feeling for the music as NO-ONE EVER interrupts a Guitar Solo if they are into the music. It is the musical equivalent of your Parents entering your room when you are alone with your boy or girlfriend. It completely ruins the flow and rhythm of the song and you were pausing so much that this masterpiece was chopped up onto 1,000 pieces and the final "coup de grace" was when our friend paused the song 4 seconds from the end(you can see how long remains) and then said "Let's continue" for FIVE seconds. Surely you could have made those comments when the song finished 5 seconds later Guys..
This song's message is global and never NOT relevant, that's one of the reasons why this song is so strong and powerful.
DON'T STOP THE SOLO!!!
Sorry guys you need to rethink your reactions. To many stoppages ruins the feeling of the music and song
Ticking noise simulates a ticking clock done by the Bassist, Roger Waters by strumming his Bass Guitar.
Excellent song and reaction!
Those drums in the intro are high-tuned Tom drums.
Vocês precisam entender que nós que estamos assistindo agora (em grande maioria) somos apaixonados pela banda, seus componentes ..... Interromper o solo, por mais impressionante que lhe pareça, não é adequado.
No demais, valeu pela troca de experiências! Continuem!
So great job, please jeep it up. And god bless
