I saw David Gilmour on this tour that year when it came through Chicago. I had just become a fan of Pink Floyd and especially David Gilmour's guitar work the year before, and he doesn't tour often; maybe once per decade. So, I jumped at the chance to see him on this tour. He is the same age as my dad (older by about one month) :) and as you can tell, he still sounded amazing! Thanks for reacting to this one.

The guitar he is playing here is known as the " Black Strat " one of the world's best known instruments. It was sold a few years ago in the USA for $3.3 million. He sold his entire collect for around $22 million . This is a great example of why live performances are better as no two performances are ever exacly the same. You guys have SOOO much yet to discover even from the Pulse concert alone - Learning to Fly , One of these Days , Run like Hell . Coming Back to Life , Keep Talking to name a few .

I would highly recommend watching the 'Final "Echoes" performance with Richard Wright (Pink Floyd)' I think you and your mom will really enjoy it. 'Echoes' is an iconic Floyd song from 1971. Another recommendation is 'Run Like Hell' from the 1994 Pulse concert.👍👍

What a difference 44 years makes. This concert is a little different than the original gig they did at Pompeii in 1972. That was a cool old video with all the original members (god they look soooo young) . Echoes part 1 and 2 sounded really good even for 1972. The multi screen split gets a little annoying haha but It's cool watching them evolve and then a year later in spring of 1973 we get Dark Side of The Moon.

You will like this and agree....... The WHO….. “The Kids Are Alright” Tour 1989. Rich Stadium Buffalo N.Y…….. AWESOME
After the concert the Who were being interviewed on the local radio station and the DJ asked the band…. “So what do you think about that new RAP music coming out”…. Roger Daltrey laughed and started to answer when John Entwistle said….. “let me answer this one….. It seems to me that if you can’t write music, can’t play music, can’t sing music, if you know absolutely nothing at all about music, well then, you do rap now don’t you”….. Then. Pete Townshend said….. “If Hitler was going to come back and torture the world again he would use rap music. Roger Daltrey laughed and said…. “Isn’t that the truth”

I saw them in 1994, shortly before the Pulse concert. And I saw David on this tour, shortly before this performance. David is a legend, an angel. I actually think his solo on this is better. His age, dude was in his mid 70s I think? The tone on this solo hits me different, maybe because I'm way older than I was when I saw him/them in 1994. It's a different guitar for starters, this is his black strat, which he has since sold, for charity, for a ridiculous amount of money (over a million $ but I haven't googled it), whereas the Pulse show he had the red and white strat which had a different tone. I like this one better, even though it doesn't have the same stage production. And I love your reactions with your mom as well.
EDIT: I should also mention that the guitar strap he's wearing, with the X's, belonged to Jimmy Hendrix. His wife bought it for him and I truly believe he is somehow channeling Hendrix when he plays now.

Have you done Echoes live at Pompeii, 1971? btw, that's Chuck Leavell on keyboards; he did a stint with the Rolling Stones. Also, David's guitar strap (with the x's) used to belong to Jimi Hendrix. David's wife Polly bought it for him. Hope you do more of the live shows from Pulse, 1994.

The best performances were on the Wall Tour in 1980 and of course the one-off Reunion Live 8 in 2005, where the music was the focus and where everyone can finally see - if they want to at all - that it was a collaborative effort in every respect, including vocals .
It's a shame that they gave it up so carelessly for selfish reasons and that everyone drives their old tanker.
