The thing is, we've barely started. Season 1 and Season 2 are all setup. Rudy is still 15. We're still at volume 8 out of 26. There's still so much story, so much growth, so much mystery, so much world, so many more turning points to encounter. I cannot wait for cour 2 and beyond. That's also when Rudy becomes the man he needs to be. Like he becomes such a chad of a man
Nice, subscribed. Anyway, maybe because I'm an INTP, but I find the most common complaint about Rudeus silly. Which is to say that he is a "50 year old man in a teenage body". But I guess most people forget the meaning and implications of reincarnation. Not only is your previous body gone forever, but in the first place, in his previous life Rudeus became a hikikomori from highschool to his death, he did not experience much of adult life. But the most important thing is: experiencing two childhoods doesn't equate to having the mind of an old man.
I have no doubt that when the LN is fully adapted and Studio Bind stays consistent with their qualities, this Isekai will go down as one of the best if not the best Isekai story. This cour alone we just finishing the after effect of Turning Point 2 and the story is as engaging as ever. I mean who would've thought that fighting Orsted would indirectly led Rudy to his ED problem, because of this it led him to Magic School, his actual reason why he want leave home in the first place, and when you think about it if not for his ED problem we might not properly meet Nanahoshi and learn about the Teleportation Incident, and to top it off we finally reunited with Sylphy in the very place where we wanted to be, this Magic School! If this is not a roller coaster of a story then I don't know what else to say, amazing! and this is only Turning Point 2! 😂
@@addedcheeseit’s a bit sad that some of their key members have to leave because of other projects, I’m still hoping that they would bring back some of them for important moments.
Completely agree. My 2 favorite animated shows are AOT AND ATLA and this show has everything both those shows had and more. As a LN reader and if the anime doesnt drop in quality it will definitely surpass both shows for me
Mushoku Tensei is one of the few anime to genuinely make me care for the characters to a much higher degree. The opening to episode 15 I think with Paul was enough to make me cry twice. To make a cheating, womanizer a character I love and care deeply for while also feeling empathy for him is great. Its also the only anime to push me to read a LN after watching anime for many years. I'm at volume 19 currently and I cant wait for it to be animated. Its in my top 3 anime for me personally. Re:Zero and Made In Abyss also in that area.
i'm impressed you managed to squeeze so many 5 star takes into a 10 minute video. the "controversy" surrounding rudeus as a character and the show in general is aggravatingly shallow and completely misses the point in favor of circle jerk virtue signaling. rudeus may technically be 30 mentally but he also has the life experience and trauma of a bullied child. i think it works because of the juxtaposition between how the cast sees him and how the audience sees him. he's endearing because he's flawed but genuinely wants to better. almost like a real person (compared to store-brand isekai protags)
Here's the thing: most bad isekai aren't bad because they're isekai, they're bad because they're bad. The success of the good instances of this genre have resulted in two negative results: a lot of things that should never be getting anime getting them regardless, followed by some actually good stories winding up in the hands of studios who rush out a half-assed product that doesn't live up to the source material.
I think the much larger reason most Isekai (and 90% of all anime) are terrible is the sub-zero quality expectations of most weebs. Just look at the 6-7/10 shonen action thriller's that show up every single season, only for the community to hail them as must see's. They literally want garbage and since garbage is cheap, studios are more than happy to provide.
Great video, and you earned another sub. I love Mushoku Tensei for its world and characters. The light novels are some of the best things that I have ever read, and I encourage all to read them. I look forward to your other videos and hope that you make more about Mushoku Tensei.
@@oooshyguy very much so 😂 figured it looked like some kind of silly fun for those who've yet to see the show and it would be a funny bit for those that have
A lot of people say they "don't like isekai" but what it really comes down to is "not liking bad shows." Plenty of isekais are really good but the popularity of the genre has led to a lot of hastily written "wouldn't it be cool if ___" stories. Not too long ago we had the same thing happen with mecha where every single anime had mecha in it, and most of them were bad. Plenty of good mecha but most were shovelware.
The reason I said that I dislike isekai is, that the shows I mentioned, Tanya the evil, gate and re:zero and ofc mushoku tensei are the only isekai that I like which leaves the vast majority into the dislike category
Sword Art Online was my first isekai, I liked it, but then I saw what Something Witty Entertainment did to make it even better and suddenly I couldn't watch most real Isekai, they were all the same bland trash with the same trash stereotypes and tropes, so when I heard the "grandfather of Isekai" was getting an anime, I almost decided to skip it, surely I would hate the thing that set most of these tropes into motion, but my word, did it change my mind quickly
Honestly, I think the problem with modern isekai is that they have a list of things that became popular in the genre and they feel the need to include all of that, even if doing so makes no sense. But in mushoku tensei there is a valid reason for all of the tropes which is why they don't really feel like tropes and I think that is the big separation between most isekai and good isekai
@@addedcheese It's become a cash grab genre, people just chasing success that, on the surface, seems easy to pull off. Really the only good ones anymore (there are exceptions) seem to be the comedy ones that are making fun of other Isekai. Maybe now that they're is an Anime format for Mushoku other studio's can better see why it works so well and try to actually have a reason to follow its footsteps outside of greed.
Currently for my isekai top list, Re:Zero is still my number 1 in terms of the tiptop light novel adaptation and it's qualities (the only anime i saw that fully utilizes 30 minutes for an episode). It's hard for Mushoku Tensei (MT) to top it, but in terms of overall enjoyment, I think MT is a lot better, especially if you read the novel. The adaptation quality seems to drop a bit on the first cour of season 2 (probably due to slice of life focus), But I hope their A-Team is back on the second half (if there is one) due to more action-oriented story later on.
I really enjoy this second season adaptation. I mean there is a lot of material for the ED/School arc and I think they have done a pretty good job adapting it. I had been waiting all season for them to adapt these last 3 episodes and I can't wait for this week's. This scene and the surrounding events where Sylphie reveals herself are some of my favorite parts in the novels.
I wish isekai actually becomes refines after this anime ends, Oh well that's just wishful thinking, Re:Zero and other great isekai anime is already released way before and the isekai quality still sucks except for some
Pretty much. It's a bit odd really since isekai is pretty much the only genre where it seems like any random shit gets published on the daily which is a bit of a shame
and it's good that you disagree. It would be boring if this was just an echo chamber. I still need to watch slime at some point myself, I've only watched the first season so far
Though enjoyable, Eminence in Shadow is objectively not better than MT, simple analysis and comparison of characterization, animation, sound design and background art will tell you that
