One un-noted part of the anime that I like a lot is the opening. It’s not a premade set of visuals that plays at the beginning of the weekly watch; the music is made to be listened to with beautiful scenery, and they do that amazingly every episode, with a scenery that fits the episode so well, and transitions into the episode so well instead of having a scene before the intro to do the job.
in my opinion never really loved openings and love that mushoku takes the time slot reserved for the tradition and uses it to add to world buidling. the slow pan on their current landscape and location really helps you generate an overall picture of the world as time goes on. making it feel more real
i can easily conmjure a mental image of the first city effortlessly by memory. I can hardly think of many other anime where i can visually picture the world in a realer sense then moshoku
Fucking love this as well; they recently started doing it for the EP as well. Great way to provide background in ways that are non-obstrusive to the story.

I think honestly one of the most impressive parts of this show is the fact that the majority if the later episodes are just straight up in a fantasy language.
@@_Darkaeluz yea exactly everything that Rudy is able to do is because he actually worked at it and earned it. That’s why it pisses me off that some people say Rudy is OP. Studio Bind did a really good adaptation. Believe me the 26 volumes of the Light Novel, is packed af. They were able to include everything it needed but theres still a lot more details that cant be adapted so I suggest reading it. The first part of S1 may be feel like an absolutely broken slow cooker cause how slow it is but that prologue of prologues is essential to show because that is literally all the foundation which upon the story of growth will take place. Showing it all gained me a lot of respect for the studio since they also understood the core of the story.
I mean, at this point we've popularized Truck-kun so much that I'm surprised we don't have a "I got Burned by a Dragon and got Reincarnated as a Truck who now has to Collect Souls so I can Return to my Own World" (Shortened to: "Soulcollector Truck-kun) Anime :/
In an age of homogenized soulless cash grabs it is heartwarming to see a product made with care and passion. The artwork, the music, the detail put into the adaptation, this isn't just a product to the creators this was something they obviously were passionate about. As a fan this is something I applaud and hope to see more of.
Mhmmm it doesn’t always handle it’s topics with the greatest of respect. But damn can you tell that this series has had it’s heart and soul poured into it. From the script based off of the light novel to each level of animation. Hell the CGI is barely noticeable in my opinion, and even then it is it’s not that bad.
Exactly!!! I wouldn’t mind waiting a but more in order to watch something truly beautiful, or as close to perfection that it could be🎉🎉 (Also, new seasons of an already great anime would be nice...Just saying🤣)
@Ddeidaカイオ I’m pretty sure the crowd outside the demon kingdom when Rudeus first enters the city is partially CGI. There are other things I suspect where CGI but I’m not entirely sure.
Just finished watching season 1 and no I haven’t read the light novel or web novel yet, but I plan to. One thing I find interesting about the premise and Rudeus’ character is that it DOES show the good people in his life. His original parents didn’t hate him or belittle him or feed his insecurities. It’s the exact opposite! They truly loved him and if anything coddled him because they knew how much he suffered. They constantly tried to get him out of his room and stop being a shut-in because they knew it wasn’t good for him, but they never for instance bust down the door, destroyed all his games and books and said “enough is enough fatass go outside and stop being a shut-in😄”! They realized how traumatizing his life outside was for him and how he’d likely be tormented again if he did go back out into the real world. Back to school. They tried to get the school to do something about the bullies multiple times but we can imagine that was all for naught. Their ability to protect their son from that was gone. They did all they could on their end. Anything else would have to be a result of his actions and he was too afraid to do that. Why run from safety and assured comfort to the unknown and possibly dangerous. So he stayed. But that didn’t mean there still wasn’t ANY good in his world. He just pushed it away. And that’s the best part of his isekai past life. He realizes he fucked up the good parts of his life. His siblings beat him up after he didn’t show up to their parent’s funeral when all he did was take advantage of his parent’s love and empathy to remain a shut-in. But his siblings didn’t always hate him. I can only speak for the anime but in that it shows that his little sister wanted him to come down and have dinner with them. She truly missed her older brother and felt sorry for what he’d been through. Even hearing his brothers talk they seemed to have already begun to give up on him by that point but it sounds nothing like the seemingly total hatred of him they show the night they beat him up, trash his room, and throw him onto the street the night he dies. When I saw that scene I wasn’t really paying attention and literally thought they were just some debt collector goons or something with how brutal they were treating him😆. But they were his family and like his parents they did truly love him at one time. But unlike his parents that love eventually faded over the years as he pushed them away more and more out of fear of his trauma and retreating to the easy, comfortable, yet empty and lonely life of a shut-in. Rudeus also had a good friend! Even after the bullying and becoming a shut-in. But he treated him like trash and pushed him away because of his trauma. He had a female childhood friend who he may have even had a chance at romance with but never pursued it because of his self esteem issues. Rudeus learns from all of that and isn’t just trying to escape his old world. Some world where everyone and everything was shitty or treated him like shit. Where he had no friends or supportive family. He HAD those things despite the bad. Despite all the trauma and abuse from the the majority of people in his world, he still had a fantastic small community of people who did love and care about him that he pushed away and treated like trash. He took the good people in his life for granted and refused to better himself to enjoy the good and life with those people. It’s his fault he wasted away in his room instead of being brave and bettering himself. He recognized that he’d been isekaied and immediately got to work making the absolute most of his second chance! When he’s not even supposed to be old enough to read yet he was studying and then training. He didn’t get a special buff and he was certainly no prodigy like everyone in that world came to believe. His only buff is that he was born with the experience of a life wasted and now had the motivation of a man plagued with that and gifted a second chance. He’s far from perfect. He’s still creepy and weird but he does value others and wants to protect those who care about him this time. I like this isekai BECAUSE of his past life. Because he not only wants to be happy himself but also be better to those around him so they can be happy as well. All the while never feeling like a one dimensional pure good guy protagonist. He has some pretty messed up qualities and still suffers from the trauma of his past life (yes I’ve heard about the ED problem coming up😄). But that’s my point. He doesn’t forget his past life. He uses it to fuel himself to make the most of every single moment of his life as well as cherish every ally, family member, and friend he meets along the way. Now all he’s thinking about is his next death and making it so that the next time he does die he’ll actually feel good about what he accomplished and who’s around him at the end.
something i never seen ppl comment on is the opening been always different and integrating and been story telling, the best opening ever in all animes ever.
Fact: The author said that the studio created 3 fictional languages, them being demon God, battle God and beast God, and every VA beside Rudy's VA mastered them, that's why rudeus seems to struggle speaking demon God when he need it. And this make sense because he just learned the language in 2 years and has never spoken with anyone who speaks demon God before the demon continent arc. And this means that they are planning a season 2 already because of the battle God language, that would just be used in a season 2. They are really putting effort in the immersion in mushoku tensei's world
Jesus christ that is insane. This production is amazing and I can only imagine the amount of work and passion these guys have to do something so amazing.
thats so nutty, Japan is stepping up with the immersion and shit. Before you'd only see this in western media, think LOTR, GOT, and the Star trek. You love to see it.
Slaps minors? Because the main character is a pedophile in a child's body who actively grooms and sexualizes children. I have no idea why people say this show is special. It's writing is mid at best. The only "special" aspect of it is the pedophile main character. Really disgusting how many people support this show.
One thing I noticed about this anime is its intro's, it doesn't just cut to a opening video it just shows the world and its characters going through day to day life as it plays the music. Its such a lovely detail that keep you hooked while adding the world building and making use of the whole 20~ minutes, and honestly I like not having to skip intros after I've watched them a few times because everyone opening is something new and different to look at!
@@diakounknown1225 this is exactly a power fantasy lol, he's literally a pedophile who now uses his knowledge in a childs body to get it on with kids surrounded by other morally shitty characters, this is probably definitely the life he wanted to live but also very much just a generic power fantasy
@@chrisboelens2640 I know. But later on in the story... I am not telling you spoilers. But I know this isn't PURELY a power fantasy. The characters don't just do what he says just because. Yeah, gigguk really knows how to choose right words for a script and actually hit us on the feels ❤️❤️ That's what I liked about his videos, his own completely honest opinion yet a script that leaves a solid remark 😌😌
If they want to tell the full story I think we're looking at 5 to 8 seasons and maybe a spin-off movie or anime for Roxys back story as it has a manga of its own
Personally I think you're overshooting there. Season two will likely cover books 7-12. The series has 26 books total, which would mean a total of 4 seasons and change.
I wish he talked about how well Bind are handling openings. I don’t have anything against the classic show opening but man, i swear jobless reincarnation’s op is impossible to skip. When the opening starts I have not wanted to skip it once. It never takes away from the show, but only adds worldbuilding and small details that otherwise, the show just wouldnt normally have time to waste on. The chanting is such a nice touch and just adds to the message of how despite anything that might happen in the epic we are watching the world will still be beautiful and keep moving, without fail. I’m also a huge fan of how re:zero s2 has been handling openings and endings, not needing to show them unless it has significant impact on the viewer, but i think jobless reincarnation is a step ahead of re:zero’s step ahead. And don’t get me wrong, some of my favorite music ever has come from those classic openings, and i still regularly listen to many, but whenever i would watch a show I would watch the openings once and then always skip them after (there are some extra special op’s and ed’s that are extremely difficult to close as well) even if the music or animation was done extremely well. Man, i really hope Garnt gets inspired to make a video on openings and how impactful they can be.
Personally I loved how the opening was basically a part of the watch! Even more so when it comes to having to pause and skip something that’d be 3 mins long AND wouldn’t want to listen to. Which, btw, the op song for mushoku is really nice🤌👌👍🎉

Purely based on the animes the two cannot even be compared atm, it's like JJK winning best anime of the year with a mediocre introduction arc, very early. We will have to see in the future how well MT will be handled, and how much from it will be adapted. It's already a miracle, that Re: Zero has 2 full 25 eps seasons and most likely at least a 3. season will come sometimes in the future when most of the time we get 2 seasons of 12 episodes then go read the manga or multiple seasons are reserved to battle shounens (MHA) and garbage harem shows (Is it wrong to pick up a girl in a dungeon) or we get the Promised neverland treatment.
I started watching this show because you gave it a brief shout out on a newer trash taste episode and I can't thank you enough I've really really enjoyed it.

And it destroys that stupid assumption that you care about random people who don't mean shit to you over the people in your life that you love. This anime is pretty much my hands down favorite anime and light novel. I've watched season one and read the LN up till Volume 19, and god damn, i love every minute of it. It just stands out from most other isekai in every single way and i so enjoyable to read and watch. All the characters feel real as well as the world itself due to how things are explained and just the way that the story plays out is so well done imo. If you look past how much of a perv he is in the beggining and look at the entire story as a whole as he develops and changes over time due to certain circumstances, it's just done so well and is so fucking good. I can't wait for season 2 to release, thankfully it starts airing fairly soon now. If people thought that season one was pretty good, then season 2 and beyond might as well be considered a masterpiece because it gets much better right from the beginning with LN volume 7 and is gonna end oin some strong points as well (i believe it was volume 12 but according to the trailer, the part i'm talking about will be in season 2 meaning 6 LN's per sesason over 24 episodes). So yeah, i love this series, and really can't wait for it to be fully adapted but that probably won't happen until close to 2028 or so if they go at the current pace and release frames for the seasons. Not to mention the possibility for a sequel in about 10 years or so according to the author. Anyway, in case anyone reading this can't tell, i fucking love Mushoku Tensei lol it just does everything right imo
I’m surprised that you didn’t mention the uniqueness of the opening - the fact that they played the opening over a different set of scenes, ones that related to each individual episode that the opening played over, really impressed me, and it’s been the most impressive way I’ve seen an opening dealt with to this day.

I like how magic users don’t automatically beat weapon users. Actually, it seems like magic users have big disadvantage against weapon users. It makes me happy that magic users have to be really smart and strategic to win against even a moderately talented weapon user.
Swords are actually portrayed in the world as stronger than magic, not until Rudeus helped in the education system of mages in the later part of the story.
Yeah, all three major sword styles have advantages over mages. Sword God style (Ghislaine and Eris' style) has speed, North God style (kidnapper who threw sword) has unpredictability, and Water God style has perfect counterattacks that can even parry magic. When fighting against a typical mage who has to chant in order to cast spells, they can dominate easily. Rudeus' only advantage is that he developed chantless magic, which improved his magic cast time to be fast enough to actually use in close-range combat.
IIRC, in the novel it was mentioned that in direct confrontation at shorter distances swords beat magic, but magic is superior in AOE and crowd control. Also, magic can provide a lot of nifty tools .
A good power scale acknowledges balance and I really like that in Anime when they do that right. Magic should be simple to power scale too, magic is only good when you are mid-long range and takes time to cast more powerful spells, melee weapons have an art and can kill in no time but needs to be close to their enemy, long range weapons need precision and accuracy to be effective and is best with stealth, surprise attacks, and poison. Simple yet affective power scaling makes an Anime superb.
"Maybe this was what isekai was always meant to be; not just another adventure in another time in another world, but another chance at life." Man that resonates hard
I really associate the do over at life trope more with isekai, than I do with the story taking place in another world part. Even if isekai literally means another worldz

Truck-kun is so underrated. edit: Can we get an Isekai-ception where truck-kun is hit by a bigger truck-sama or train-kun or airplane-kun... and he is reborn as a human that drives race cars in an "old west" themed world?
Mushoku Tensei is, as Gigguk stated, a story about redemption. Stories about redemption are meaningless if there is no reason for a character to be redeemed, which is why we see Rudeus do so many pervy and questionable things. Its so that when he is faced with an opportunity to do said questionable things and DOESN'T take the opportunity because the thought of doing something like that NOW makes him uncomfortable, it makes his choice feel impactful. Watching Rudeus grow and develop as a character is like watching your own son grow up. When he does something wrong it makes you cringe, but when he does the right thing it makes you proud of him, it makes you feel like hes learning and developing right before your eyes. Mushoku Tensei is probably one of my new all time favorite series, and I'm glad that its getting the love and care in its adaptation that it deserves.
Honestly this is spot on and really justifies people not liking Rudy. It is entirely fair to dislike or judge him poorly until he stops assaulting and taking advantage of people. Hope to see less and less as the series continues and he grows

I really hope the studio follows through to the end of the entire story seeing the meticulous attention to detail that will only make sense much much further down in the plot. Having read the original novel mostly to the end, the anime depicts details that no one (who has not read ahead) will notice it was there until you see to those moments. Those moments will definitely not be covered in the two planned seasons. It tells me that the production team knows the ins and outs of the whole plot line and is trying to depict the entire novel rather than an anime meant as a quick goods and novel selling Ad. People who is OK knowing ahead in the plot should consider reading the novel or the manga and then going back to the anime, because the small details put in to the production really shine.

Well the director of the anime I believe first read up to volume 12 of the series (halfway through the series or so) at the time and immediately thought "I have to make an anime about it no matter what" so I think he had been working to get the perfect conditions for the author to agree to it.
To be honest, the author did the right move to rejecting others since they will screw it up but a new studios created just for the anime is mind blown!!
Novel readers: man the story is so cute and wholesome I hope everyone continues to live long peaceful and happy lives *next chapter*: TURNING POINT X Novel readers: ah shit, here we go again
I cannot understate how much the line "Don't make me be afraid of you" hit me. It's really real. Especially thinking about that most of the characters we've seen are many years younger than our main character. It's really cool seeing how he tries to basically educate and teach everyone, trying to teach them his morals. Yet he fails, because his morals were only usable in his previous life. That is such an interesting struggle.
@@keeganseck7751 actually no, harems are well accepted in the nobles society, so main wife and concubine etc, but realize that Zenith is quite shocked and angry at Paul's adultery, just like a modern woman would? that's because she is a follower of a religion that only condone one partner in life. That's also will be one thing that MT bring that rarely other Isekai has, a proper religion, friends and families that follows that religion and how it affects their lives among a wide open medieval setting in which not everybody believes in the same thing. religion isn't an enemy in this series.
oh my god, from the art style to the story... I have not been so entranced by an isekai anime before. Its beautiful. Perhaps, but then again, it's always a pleasure
Yeah it’s literally my fav op just bc of that and it also adds to the immersion. Truly a masterclass in story telling
in my opinion never really loved openings and love that mushoku takes the time slot reserved for the tradition and uses it to add to world buidling. the slow pan on their current landscape and location really helps you generate an overall picture of the world as time goes on. making it feel more real
i can easily conmjure a mental image of the first city effortlessly by memory. I can hardly think of many other anime where i can visually picture the world in a realer sense then moshoku
AOT was good at that too

Studio Bind did a really good adaptation. Believe me the 26 volumes of the Light Novel, is packed af. They were able to include everything it needed but theres still a lot more details that cant be adapted so I suggest reading it.
The first part of S1 may be feel like an absolutely broken slow cooker cause how slow it is but that prologue of prologues is essential to show because that is literally all the foundation which upon the story of growth will take place.
