Still can't and never will get bored of the fact that Rudy shot his stone canon with his staff trained on target like a damn rifle against that red wyvern fight.
from what ive seen rudy is unique in that his stone cannon has the properties of a rifle round, most mages just make spikes and chuck them. rudy adds rifiling which makes them faster and more accurate. he should do the same with every spike style spell but he doesnt for some reason.
not just the animation but the sound design in these fight sequences is so good too, the wiffs, zzings, splats, thuds and crunches have weight its satisfying to hear
It was refreshing to see a protagonist that isn't instantly professional at everything. Most Isekai MCs are just straight away perfect mages and swordsmen, and struggle litle to nothing. Meanwhile the fact that they are from another world matters nothing. Their past experiences don't matter usually either. Meanwhile Rudy is only professional at magic, bcs he managed to learn it at a younger age then anyone before him, which is thanks to his already aged mind. He is also limited by the fact that he was born human, so no matter how much mana he has he could never be as strong as high ranking demons, such as Laplace w he has always been compared to. He is also barely adept at swordfighting, and could never become truly great bcs he is unable to generate "Toki" or "Fighting spirit", which is necessary for any swordsmen. And even in magic people often outshine him, like how Sylphy is able to cast healing magic without incantation, or Nanahoshi's deep knowledge of magical circles.
Yeah that is pretty incredible writing. This is one of my top-5 anime ever because of that. Writing simple "overpowered at everything" MCs is so much easier. Also he has real issues with his friends, family and his own psyche. The whole story, characters and world are just so incredibly well rounded. Also the story doesn't even shy away from killing important characters, so you never know what will happen. It is just completly and utterly great. I really hope for a next season.
i have rewatched mushoku tensei s1 about 3 times now and s2 only once and i will keep continuing to rewatch them when i feel like it because this show is just gorgeous
great world building and some great characters just me personally i had to quit watching since im not a big fan of animes that sexualize children and promote 10 year olds r*peing and touching other adults or children, but hey man you do you.

As a trivia, although Paul Greyrat did not perfect it, he uses something similar to the sword of light during the fight against the Hydra. This happens because while Paul is only advanced level in the sword god style, he's also advanced level in the other 2 sword styles (water god style and north god style), hence making him a "saint level swordmaster".
I always thought the thing Paul used was Longsword of Silence, an advanced tier technique in the Sword God Style, which is just a slower sword of light in which you don't have to slash vertically downward. You can see Eris use it in the OVA. Is it specifically mentioned that Paul did something beyond the Longsword of Silence in the novel? If so that would be pretty cool.

But it's the same technique, just that people who are lazy and didn't train to reach the light speed, will only go to the extent of sound speed at best. Longsword of light requires dedication and strong mindset to train, which Paul clearly didn't have at the time. Tl;dr: It's the same skill, but to be at its best, think of it like being max level on the skill, while Paul has it as lv1.
Just checked in case: Reddit describes Longsword of silence as the advanced version of the skill, and Longsword of light as the saint version of the same skill.

For most people they probably won't meet the current Sword God in their lifetime, and such the recognition of becoming a sword saint usually falls to acquiring one of the strongest offensive skills of the sword god style. It's just my own hypothesis, but it is likely that some sword saints finish their training at the saint stage, as they know they can't go further than that limit. Hence when travelling the world, the knowledge is shared, and at a later point adventurers know the moves.
Remenber that the protagonist is someone that you wouldn't like to be friends with But everything else is good writing and that influences the protagonist Just to let you know to not drop it from the star
Eris' single swing on Orsted at 9:27 was insinuated as her first long sword of light in the novel. I never see anyone point it out. I'd personally put her at saint level strength wise at that moment, but to be considered saint level you need to be able to use the long sword of light at will.
I have no idea what is the "long sword of light" is other than it might be some sort of proc skill/ability/technique, but that just gives me all the more reason to appreciate Eris

Every fight: Happy Celtic-esque fighting music that is quite banging. Up until Orsted: Not so happy no more with good reason, when the absolute strongest characters of a world have their own theme you know you done messed up.
She was done dirty by the anime as to not show how badass she was when she single-handedly saved Ariel, Luke and her other companions as they were ambushed, after passing Asura's northern border.

The love and care thar went into every single thing, from the intros showcasing a little more of the world, the music, the voice acting, animation, draw style... the list could go on and on. Season two was alright but get ready for what is about to come, hope the studio was saving on season two to deliver on third season with turning point 4 and everything that is about to come... can't wait for it 😁
Temper your expectations, expect something similar to S2P2 in terms of animation quality, which is good enough. We'll never get a complete full package like season 1 again. A good comparison is One Punch Man. Season 1 will always be the best season from a production standpoint in that series, though because of the longer production time(?), Season 3 will hopefully be better than Season 2 of OPM. (Cope) So... the longer it takes for S3 of MT to air, the more promising it'll be.

Second season changed so much due to the director change, and the impact in vision is clear from the start, with the addition of an opening song/movie, to the art style, animation and fight direction. I don't think second season had a bad animation/draw style, over all it was like 1000 times better to all the seasonal animes, but in this video going from first season to second season, fight choreography felt off. The part where everyone is fighting and the camera revolves around Rudeos feels goofy, and there is so much happening in slow speed that it feels overwhelming. And in general, at least for me, following some fights im second season is kind of hard, as so much happens (for example fight against hydry it is super well animated, but at times spacial awareness goes everywhere, so it is kind of dificult to really know where everyone is attacking from. Hopefully this gets improved a little for 3 season, with turning point 4 happening and a more battle heavy season incoming, they need to step their game in the fighting choreography! Over all super happy with what the studio has cooked so far, something i know for sure they will not disappoint 😁

Badigadi also said his spell had emperor level power, though that was charged up Regardless, Rudy could already arguable be called Emperor class before the 2nd Orsted fight What's more dissapointing is that we don't even see any other emperor class spells. We do see all the saint tier ones(though the fire one is used literally in the finale) but very little up from there. Flash freeze is cool and all but it's a combination of a beginner and intermediate spell. Imagine what saint class combinations would do

The fact that they didn't use the opening scene as a way to tell the story is what killed season 2 for me. The zanoba, cliff, and badi side stories could have been told in those opening 😢
Well they mostly utilized the openings to show off new locations in Season 1 which wouldn't really work for most of Season 2, though they definitely could've done something similar to S1E17 where they showed Pauls journey after the mana disaster so I get your point. But I find the openings to be far down on my priority list of things that could've been done better in Season 2.
the bandits and criminals in this series are not poorly written. most just make the bandits weak as hell that the mc can defeat them in their sleep while they dide the bandits justice showing that they loved rough and know how to survive in the streets with their combat really love mushoku temsei

Looking back on season one, I wonder why it was so damn good. AndI think it is more than just per frame quality. The ambience, background scenarios, sound, the overall feeling of wonder portrayed there is something else. The follow up seasons may be good, and even exceed in some scenarios, but season one will always be top tier in my book, because overall is so damn good. 😁
I think that'll hopefully return for the next season or two. The whole school arc was a slow arc to begin with, and putting that in together with the begaritt arc really hurt the vibe of the begaritt arc. Hopefully the daily life arc will be short, we'll get some sense of wonder with the introduction of perugius. Have our hearts broken with turning point four, have a dope ass fight with you know who, then have some of the good old fashion intrigue with the asura kingdom arc. That's my hope anyways
a large part of it is cause there were more close range fight in the early parts of the story, and these sword/spear/taijutsu fights are always more pleasing to watch

i really love the final battle with paul everyone was moving and have a specific job in battle field similar to MMORPG party when going on a dungeon its so refresing to see something like this from an anime cus there are very few who did the same
Maaaaaaaan, mushoku tensei season 1 is just goated. The love and care thar went into every single thing, from the intros showcasing a little more of the world, the music, the voice acting, animation, draw style... the list could go on and on. Season two was alright but get ready for what is about to come, hope the studio was saving on season two to deliver on third season with turning point 4 and everything that is about to come... can't wait for it 😁
Temper your expectations, expect something similar to S2P2 in terms of animation quality, which is good enough. We'll never get a complete full package like season 1 again.
A good comparison is One Punch Man. Season 1 will always be the best season from a production standpoint in that series, though because of the longer production time(?), Season 3 will hopefully be better than Season 2 of OPM. (Cope)

@Krowsn it pains me, but I know you are right. Second season changed so much due to the director change, and the impact in vision is clear from the start, with the addition of an opening song/movie, to the art style, animation and fight direction.
I don't think second season had a bad animation/draw style, over all it was like 1000 times better to all the seasonal animes, but in this video going from first season to second season, fight choreography felt off. The part where everyone is fighting and the camera revolves around Rudeos feels goofy, and there is so much happening in slow speed that it feels overwhelming.
And in general, at least for me, following some fights im second season is kind of hard, as so much happens (for example fight against hydry it is super well animated, but at times spacial awareness goes everywhere, so it is kind of dificult to really know where everyone is attacking from.
Hopefully this gets improved a little for 3 season, with turning point 4 happening and a more battle heavy season incoming, they need to step their game in the fighting choreography!
Over all super happy with what the studio has cooked so far, something i know for sure they will not disappoint 😁

Especially since it feels like Volume 14-17 almost has more action than the first 13 novels combined...

She capped at saint level, the same way Paul capped at advanced level, thats the best you can do with innate skill and intuition, to go past that you need to train for real

She never got to learn Saint tier skills until she studied under the Sword God. It is weird in a way, because Rudeus never learnt any King tier magic so he was consider a Saint tier magician even though his firepower had already exceeded King class by the 2nd Orsted fight.

Roxy also states that all emperor spells are just complex combinations of lower tier spells and thought that Rudy used one of them when he rescued her, the flash freeze one. Rudy was casting an emperor level then, he just didn't realize it. Badigadi also said his spell had emperor level power, though that was charged up
Regardless, Rudy could already arguable be called Emperor class before the 2nd Orsted fight
What's more dissapointing is that we don't even see any other emperor class spells. We do see all the saint tier ones(though the fire one is used literally in the finale) but very little up from there. Flash freeze is cool and all but it's a combination of a beginner and intermediate spell. Imagine what saint class combinations would do

The show implies that most if not all of saint class spell has to do with the surrounding / weather manipulation.
This makes them impractical in a real fight, which is why emperor level is just a combination of advanced/intermediete spells, probably because saint spells while great in mana output is not very effecient
Whilst, emperor is basicly just advanced spells with max potential
4th fight is like 1/3 of season after the start - that's kinda cool

The fact that they didn't use the opening scene as a way to tell the story is what killed season 2 for me. The zanoba, cliff, and badi side stories could have been told in those opening 😢
Well they mostly utilized the openings to show off new locations in Season 1 which wouldn't really work for most of Season 2, though they definitely could've done something similar to S1E17 where they showed Pauls journey after the mana disaster so I get your point. But I find the openings to be far down on my priority list of things that could've been done better in Season 2.
the bandits and criminals in this series are not poorly written. most just make the bandits weak as hell that the mc can defeat them in their sleep while they dide the bandits justice showing that they loved rough and know how to survive in the streets with their combat really love mushoku temsei

Looking back on season one, I wonder why it was so damn good. AndI think it is more than just per frame quality.
The ambience, background scenarios, sound, the overall feeling of wonder portrayed there is something else.
The follow up seasons may be good, and even exceed in some scenarios, but season one will always be top tier in my book, because overall is so damn good. 😁

I think that'll hopefully return for the next season or two. The whole school arc was a slow arc to begin with, and putting that in together with the begaritt arc really hurt the vibe of the begaritt arc. Hopefully the daily life arc will be short, we'll get some sense of wonder with the introduction of perugius. Have our hearts broken with turning point four, have a dope ass fight with you know who, then have some of the good old fashion intrigue with the asura kingdom arc. That's my hope anyways
Backgrounds and sounds are still the same, because they are still the same sound and art directors.
a large part of it is cause there were more close range fight in the early parts of the story, and these sword/spear/taijutsu fights are always more pleasing to watch
