16:58 Fun fact about Inuyasha: The german anime dub was shelved literally one Arc before completion. Even weirder: They decided to complete the dub in 2012. Eight years after the sudden end in 2004. The thing that makes that fascinating to me is the role of Dominik Auer (Inuyasha's german voice). As he originally started working on it in 2000 he was a newbie. As they restarted the whole thing he was head of the whole project. That's quite the 180. But I seriously loved this late completion. They managed to get every single voice actor back. (Save for Myoga, dead men voice no flea ghosts. Which is kinda ironic, come to think of it.) Even a few that retired from Voice Acting altogether.
What was weird was after the show "ended" (when the show stopped the first time) in the states people just kind of dropped it. It went from the show everyone watched to just disappearing just like that. Years later when they just quietly finished the series it never really returned to any kind of popularity as far as I'm aware. Cartoon Network ran the episodes exactly one time and that was it. It was very anti-climactic and after all that time in between it really felt like what people had waited for was barely what they got.
Omega factor is basically a love letter to tezuka's entire library, crammed into a GBA astro boy game. Not only due to the cameos but actively taking and mixing together (in a very good way) the plot of multiple of his works.
The Anime games I've had: Inuyasha: Secret Of The Cursed Mask(PS2), Inuyasha and the Divine Jewel(DS), Fullmetal Alchemist: The Broken Angel(PS2), Duel Masters(PS2), Yugioh Forbidden Memories(PS1)....etc
I always wondered why they made you play as some random in "Secret Of The Cursed Masked" but man I was so glad to have my first Inuyasha game. I eventually found Inuyasha Feudal Combat in a GameStop before they got rid of all the ps2 era games so had to pick it up. They both have faults but man did I ever enjoy playing them played them for hours but that last boss fight in secret of the cursed masked is broken lol.
I am so happy to see you end on Inuyasha! I loved secret of the cursed mask back in the day. I wish Inuyasha games could make a comeback. Inuyasha was the first anime I ever saw and it will always be a show that I return to and binge like crazy.
I would argue that Inu Yasha was less "will they or won't they" between Inu Yasha and Kagome and more "will Kagome (and later the reanimated Kikyo, once she stopped being insane) be able to convince Inu Yasha that he actually deserves to be happy and not just kill himself after killing Naraku in retaliation for murdering Kikyo in a way that deliberately made the two lovers think that they had each betrayed one another."
I think a lot of the obscurity of that game (and any of the one piece games from that time) are pretty much down to the fact it was during the time 4kids was doing the anime. Most people don't like to talk about that "version" the dub or anything about it.
Jesus, Austin. I HAD THE 80's ZOIDS. They were wind-up motorized toys that you had to build yourself. Way better than the later release. Also had Ranma 1/2: Hard Battle....and Omega Factor... Which. C'mon. You know Sega would have to relicense Astro Boy and that would cost more than it would sell. Robotech and Macross also had games...
I was actually playing Ranma 1/2 hard battle the other day, actually enjoy it despite them ruining the cover art. They were going to release its sequel as Ranma 1/2 II: anything goes martial arts but sadly canceled. There's a fan translated patch of it.
I think one of my favorite underrated gems was Dragon ball Fusions, it was such a love letter to all of dragon ball, with unique mechanics and battle system i still haven't seen anyone else try to replicate, i can only hope that maybe we get a sequel on the switch at some point
Lol I remember Cursed Mask. I remember thinking it was super charming when I got a hold of it. I think there was another game with a really similar concept. It was called "Secret of the Divine Jewel" and it was for the DS.
i never had any game systems as a kid, nor the internet, so when i found out about Secret of the Cursed Mask on early youtube one day, you BET my autistic ass binged every part this one guy had uploaded and continued to watch his playthrough as he posted it over the course of half a year. i cannot stress how in deep i was over the inuyasha series, it was one of my longer lived hyperfixations. i'm always tempted to figure out how to get SOTCM running on emu and hack it to be at least three times faster, like you mentioned.
There was also a Tenchi Muyu RPG on the SNES I think. I remember playing an emulator copy, as it was the only way to play it, but I'm not sure if it was a copy translated by fans into english, or if there was an actual version of the game that was released in english.
I would be shocked if it wasn't just a fan translation. Even though Tenchi found quite a bit of notoriety elsewhere it really didn't take off here in the states until late in the 90s and early 2000s when they were playing the series on cartoon Network. There's just no way there would have been a market for that in the SNES days.
Fan translated. Tenchi muyo and sailor moon r for the snes were released in their Japanese forms. You had to buy a Japanese translator that sits in the console like the game genie and would read the game for you . Way ahead of its time.
If you like the franchise, Zoids Legacy on the GBA was AWESOME, tons of customization, crossover between the series and a solid grid based gameplay mechanic. I'd compare the overworld and design to Golden Sun. Defenitely worth checking out.
Dude, if you wanna see a game-centered anime that's weirdly obsessed with guns, I'd recommend seeing even 1 episode of Crash B-Daman. Literally, every one of the kid's marble-shooting figures is decked out with a full-on pistol grip, gun barrel, and even have AK-47 style banana clips; It's absolutely bananas!
Beyblade never dies in Asian countries, in fact Beyblade keeps updating new stuffs & was 2019 best selling toys in most South-Asian countries like Malaysia & Indonesia.
Zoids was my childhood. I vividly remember waking up at 6am every school day just so I could watch zoids. It was my favorite mech show as a kid. By the way you really need to do a video on the best Gundam games.
Love the new backdrop. I've never seen a youtuber who broadcasts his videos from inside Intelligent Qube. Just remember to clear the Advantage Cubes tactfully and you'll be okay
One thing I love about this channel is that austin can just say he's gonna talk about his college thesis and it's about garfield, and I have no idea if it's a joke or not.
Glad to see you cover Revenge of King Piccolo. I rented it and enjoyed it when it first came out. The big problem I have with the game is that when you get to the King Piccolo arc, it pretty much turns into boss fights which as you mentioned just don't work very well. A lot of the unlockables are obtained through the tournament fighter mode which while not bad, isn't as fun as the dungeon crawling and platforming parts of the game.
Yup. There's nothing wrong with being young, but assuming the age of your audience and then casually calling anyone outside of that "old" by inference is the action of a child.
That’s really interesting, I never would have guessed that! Looking online, it seems there wasn’t even a source manga. The game was the beginning of the franchise. That’s wild!
The third Ranma fighter on the Super Famicom is actually one of my favorite games of the "Street Fighter-lite" variety. It's actually a genuinely solid title and doesn't suffer from any of the jank that you'd expect from a 90es console exclusive fighter.
I remember Inyuasha SotCM being one game that I saw every week at Target (it was next to the movie theater, so every week while waiting for our ride we'd browse) for $10 in a little game clearance section. One day I finally said screw it and picked the game up. I beat it and have no idea how I had the patience when I never could be bothered to finish FFVIII and IX at the time.
I’m still convinced the best Bayblade game is the Japan exclusive first game (Pokémon inspired RPG) that came out on the GBC. Came out in Japan before the anime was a thing, so most of the characters/Beyblade spirits are originals or only share a visual similarity with their anime counterparts. Also had pixel art monster girl boob jiggle, which awakened something inside young me.
That Garfield joke would be funny to me if it weren't for the fact that I watched an over an hour long video from Quinton Reviews about Garfield the other day. Also I haven't heard anyone mention the Revenge of King Piccolo game in years. I had no idea that it was made by the Valkyria Chronicles people.
I have at least 4 of the To Love Ru games. One on the DS, one on the PSP and 2 of the To Love Ru Darkness games on the PS Vita. I personally think that the DS and PSP games of the original To Love Ru series were made half way through the Manga's lifespan because they had Lala with a little sister or maybe a younger cousin in both of them. This was before Momo and Nana were in the Manga. And with To Love Ru Darkness Battle Ecstasy and To Love Ru Darkness True Princess on the PS Vita, they were both really good games that not only delved into the storyline that fans remember but also brought interesting alternative senarioes like in True Princess, Yuki Rito got amnesia so the girls in the series have to rejig his memories so he could remember who he is and why they love him so much with some interesting callbacks to the series itself. Note that the To Love Ru and To Love Ru Darkness games are only released in Japan but if you are a fan of the series, you can enjoy them without having to understand the text of what is going on.
Wait wait wait. Did you just diss the Cube???. You’re making me angry Austin!!!!!! I remember playing a Ranma fighting game. If spamming Ryoga’s “shoryuken” can be considered playing 🤷♂️. Great one, as always!
I missed Samurai Champloo Sidetracked from the intro - otherwise highly entertaining as expected :) Greetings from Germany (as in Naoki Urasawa's Monster which is also set in the Czech Republic where I'm born^^)
If you could customize your character and buy abilities| powers for him that would be cool! You could create a Yokai monk who control shadows or a Priestress who can control thunder. Choosing differents clothes for your character, go to a restaurant to restore your health; a cute cutscene of you and Inuyasha eating together. Sounds fun to me :D Too bad thoses features are not in the game.
Omg! I loved the Secret of the Cursed mask! XD I remember wanting to play it when it first came out but didn't get to until I finally was old enough to get my own copy! Which was secondhand at a secondhand video game store. XP And yeah, I totally agree with you about how slow it is. XD But, I still love it non the less. X'D
The reasons why today’s Anime games don’t have English voices now because Bandai dropped out the R1 anime distribution industry years ago, which is where they pulled in most of their voices for the video games division. Today they only dub the games that are expected to pull in a large amount of profit like anything from the Tales franchise.
And now I want to see a let's play of it. it always amazes me that anime that actually had a lot of interest like evangelion And others just never got any of the games brought over.
Woah I actually played some of these when I was younger! Ranma 1/2 I used to rent back when renting video games was a thing, and I owned both Inuyasha games when I was in high school. I did the same thing to my friends with Kagome, and all I can remember about the ps2 game was buyng it with money from my first job, and only getting like 20 minutes into it
Man, I love Quintet. Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma are straight up in my Top 10 games of all time. If the main guy, who is pretty much straight up missing, came out of the woodworks again and started a kickstarter for another entry in the loose Soul Blazer series he would probably get all of my money.
Oh man. I had been thinking about reviewing Zoids Assault for such a long time, but I couldn't bring myself to pop it in again because it was the first game I had ever played where I quit within the first 15 minutes due to sheer boredom.
I saw Zoid Battle Legends at my old Blockbusters. I do kinda wish I gave it a try though. Incidentally, I did manage to 100% Custom Robot, since you brought up the game. Feudal fairytale was one we actually had. My brother and I managed to unlock all characters, but we never quite unlocked all images.
I gotta say, when the PS3 came out and introduced to me the automatic console shut off feature after 1-3 hours, I instantly loved it. When playing games late at night, I most likely consider PS3 or PS4 games since I know I'm gonna fall asleep and don't want the console on all night(and those are the only 2 consoles I own that shut off). Oh, have you played the Astro Boy The Movie The Game on PS2? It's a sidescrolling 2.5D platformer, but I can't get it to work properly on my modded PS2. What I did get to work was not exactly exhilarating, but I only played like all of 45 seconds of choppy gameplay.
I highly recommend trying the GBA Beyblade game. It is a Beyblade platformer and has a unique mechanic where you have spin power as health which goes down over time and when getting hit and the Beyblade becomes harder to control as the bar gets lower.
Anyone remember Bakugan Battle Brawlers? I had the DS game, and it was pretty alright. What got me to explore other games besides Pokémon when I was a teen. That, and my friend introducing me to the world of emulators.

Why does Zoids Assault look like Front Mission?

I love that anime
I played Secret of The Cursed Mask for literally over a hundred hours.
I love it
He's wearing a Teddie shirt and Persona 4 Golden released on pc today lol
the day after i beat it on vita, lolol
My Vita isn't doing too hot rn so I'm glad I can get the game again and have a fourth play through
No it hasn't. It hasn't even been announced yet.
@@otaking3582 dude, you can literally find it on steam right now.
Austin is a witch confirmed
So, Shamen king is getting a remake in 2021... It's not because of you. But I blame you.
I blame myself as well no worries.
shaman king have a good ps1 but unlocking the holy maiden of the game is HELL!
Blame? I think you mean "Thank"
And bleach is also getting an anime in 2021
LET'S GOOOOOOOO
Omega factor is basically a love letter to tezuka's entire library, crammed into a GBA astro boy game.
Not only due to the cameos but actively taking and mixing together (in a very good way) the plot of multiple of his works.
Astro asking Doctor Black Jack to go to the moon to perform surgery in the middle of an epic and emotional battle is amazing.
I used to LOVE the Astro Boy game on GBA AND PS2
Giving my like for the casual mention of Custom Robo and perhaps more importantly Gotcha Force, two of the Game Cube's most forgotten gems :')
Custom Robo shares my title, alongside final fantasy 7, elder scrolls online and castlevania SOTE, as the few games I've played over 150 hrs.
I wouldn't say forgotten it's just they are very expensive and there's very few copies.
17:50 InuYasha secret of the cursed mask is such a nostalgia trip. Loved it as a kid
Great video, really enjoy the obscure game history you talk about.
OKAY LET'S GO
The Anime games I've had: Inuyasha: Secret Of The Cursed Mask(PS2), Inuyasha and the Divine Jewel(DS), Fullmetal Alchemist: The Broken Angel(PS2), Duel Masters(PS2), Yugioh Forbidden Memories(PS1)....etc
I always wondered why they made you play as some random in "Secret Of The Cursed Masked" but man I was so glad to have my first Inuyasha game. They both have faults but man did I ever enjoy playing them played them for hours but that last boss fight in secret of the cursed masked is broken lol.
I loved Secret Of The Cursed Mask. Never got all of the endings, before having to sell it along with my PS2.
My favorite is Jimmy Neutron: Attack of the Twonkies
Good game. 🤤
Most underrated anime imo
URRR DUUURRRRR bUt DaT"z n0t an1m3
ye it is broski
That game was my jam
I am so happy to see you end on Inuyasha! I loved secret of the cursed mask back in the day. I wish Inuyasha games could make a comeback. Inuyasha was the first anime I ever saw and it will always be a show that I return to and binge like crazy.
God. Star Ocean Til the End of Time was amazing. I need to play through it again
One Piece Grand Adventure is probably the best Power Stone clone of all time
The tournament mods turn it into the single most competitive arena fighter, I think. A lot of big brain design that has been CRIMINALLY ignored since.
The fact I have that game and refuse to ever sell it speaks a lot how much I enjoyed it.
I think a lot of the obscurity of that game (and any of the one piece games from that time) are pretty much down to the fact it was during the time 4kids was doing the anime.
Most people don't like to talk about that "version"
the dub or anything about it.
Did someone say anime?
A T A R E ! ! !
Start of this video is clearly Digimon Cards
You've got a great choice of music and content in your videos
Keep up the good work
Jesus, Austin.
The whole issue with Omega factor is it forces you to quote the SNES drunk to play it "any way
you can" which is basically just code for emulation.
I was actually playing Ranma 1/2 hard battle the other day, actually enjoy it despite them ruining the cover art. They were going to release its sequel as Ranma 1/2 II: anything goes martial arts but sadly canceled. There's a fan translated patch of it.

I live near Toronto and only found out this second that there was ever a 2012 Beyblade world championship here 😂
Lol I remember Cursed Mask. I remember thinking it was super charming when I got a hold of it. I think there was another game with a really similar concept. It was called "Secret of the Divine Jewel" and it was for the DS.
"Hardly gets mentioned"
Brah, Astro Boy: Omega Factor is on EVERYONE'S GBA hidden gem list.
Yeah like all 20 people that has one of those I think he was referring to the gaming comunity as a whole my dude
Aw hell yeah, can't wait to hear your thesis on Garfield
i never had any game systems as a kid, nor the internet, so when i found out about Secret of the Cursed Mask on early youtube one day, you BET my autistic ass binged every part this one guy had uploaded and continued to watch his playthrough as he posted it over the course of half a year. i cannot stress how in deep i was over the inuyasha series, it was one of my longer lived hyperfixations. i'm always tempted to figure out how to get SOTCM running on emu and hack it to be at least three times faster, like you mentioned.
Last time I was this early, I went straight in the incubator.
There was also a Tenchi Muyu RPG on the SNES I think. I remember playing an emulator copy, as it was the only way to play it, but I'm not sure if it was a copy translated by fans into english, or if there was an actual version of the game that was released in english.

Stumbled along this channel and the quality of the content is really great! Keep it up bro great work!!

I'd compare the overworld and design to Golden Sun. Defenitely worth checking out.
I just finished a whole-ass Let's Play of Secret of the Cursed Mask a couple months ago, so I feel validated
I STILL remember how earthshatteringly slow Secret of the Cursed Mask was, and it's been nearly 15 years since I've played it.
Now I'm really wanting to see the Serial Experiments Lain game
Austin: "A block button is a bad idea"
Smash Bros and Mortal Kombat: Searching for Austin's location
Do a Video on Wild Arms The series needs love
Secret of the cursed mask was such a fucking bop. Sunk so many hours into it, it was pretty well done for what it was
I'm so happy someone else remembers the astro boy games. I played both and watched the anime SO much as a kid
i appreciated that little custom robo shoutout. it was one of my favorite gc games back in the day.
I love when you talk about anime games. Theyre either amazing or I playably terrible. You’re a huge inspiration to me and my gaming channel
"Pocket Kagome'....I felt that
is that like an Ona hole?
Beyblade never dies in Asian countries, in fact Beyblade keeps updating new stuffs & was 2019 best selling toys in most South-Asian countries like Malaysia & Indonesia.
SECRET OF THE CURSED MASK WAS MY SHIT!! I still own a copy to this day! Definitely one of my favorite games of all time! 😆
Did not expect a Gotcha Force mention (here or anywhere really)...I loved that game.
Wow this video brought back all my memories of spin fighters. I had forgotten all about them.
The Teddie shirt is perfect because it P4G was surprised released on PC the day the video came out.
I use to play Beyblade Vforce with my brother every single day. How dare you give it anything less than a 10/10.
Star Ocean 3 is fun as hell and I will fight you >:(
Lol parents had a toy back in the day. Thanks for calling me old.
I know right?! >:(
Yup. There's nothing wrong with being young, but assuming the age of your audience and then casually calling anyone outside of that "old" by inference is the action of a child.
OMG the backgrounds to that inuyasha game are sooo pretty!!! Maybe it's really a game that deserves a good patch...
ALSO YOU'RE DEMEANING THE MASTERPIECE THAT IS SO3???GRRRRRRRR :raises pitchfork:
Did you ever try the Gungrave game? It screams “Licensed Anime Game” with its coffin gun and stylish art style.
what's weird is that the anime was made AFTER the game and actually changes a fair bit of the story

4:43 I like that you reference the dark tournament arc
I’m still convinced the best Bayblade game is the Japan exclusive first game (Pokémon inspired RPG) that came out on the GBC.
Came out in Japan before the anime was a thing, so most of the characters/Beyblade spirits are originals or only share a visual similarity with their anime counterparts.
Also had pixel art monster girl boob jiggle, which awakened something inside young me.
Inuyasha JRPG reminded me of Suikoden 4 constant random encounter. It's was so much that it made me sleepy at one time

My friend's brother was SO HYPED for that Inuyasha game lol
"Inuyasha, dating simulator, rpg, three words..." THREE WORDS!?!?
Wait wait wait. Did you just diss the Cube???. You’re making me angry Austin!!!!!!
I remember playing a Ranma fighting game. If spamming Ryoga’s “shoryuken” can be considered playing 🤷♂️.

15:55 - Those were honestly what I was hoping to see in this vid. Fingers crossed to being reunited with Sumner and Ruri another day then.
The Cursed Mask was a game I played frequently when I was little.
That and Duelist of the Roses where the only two anime games I had.
Omg! I loved the Secret of the Cursed mask! XD I remember wanting to play it when it first came out but didn't get to until I finally was old enough to get my own copy! Oh man! Astro Boy Omega Factor! I had loads of fun with that game!
whoa cool gotta check out that zoids strategy one
THANK YOU!!!! i played that inyuasha game when i was younger and forgot the name of it, and have been craving to play it again!!!
I like the new set, but am very concerned that you appear to be trapped in Hope's Peak Academy.
We need even more of these kind of videos.
I remember the anime for Zoids. I thought I was crazy
"If you haven't been in a hotel room with like..."
I swear I've heard this exact line before.
It's been minute, good to see you, sir.
Rsnma 1/2 is my favorite anime. I even have a black cat named Akane. Also I'ma steal your shirt, Austin.
Serial Experiments: Lain was so hard to understand. lol It broke my then stoned, college brain.
And now I want to see a let's play of it. it always amazes me that anime that actually had a lot of interest like evangelion
And others just never got any of the games brought over.
Woah I actually played some of these when I was younger! Ranma 1/2 I used to rent back when renting video games was a thing, and I owned both Inuyasha games when I was in high school. I did the same thing to my friends with Kagome, and all I can remember about the ps2 game was buyng it with money from my first job, and only getting like 20 minutes into it
Astro Boy Omega Factor for GBA is one of the funnest games of my childhood.
It’s even quite hard.
You can tell that Austin wanted to talk so much about endless duel because of the last 5 seconds.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who remembers Zoids New Century.
You should make a Wild Arms video, now I'm curious if this will be the next fix for my jrpg addiction
Saw the Teddie shirt immediately, a good man
Secret of the Cursed Mask and the Dragon Ball game we’re literally some of my favorite games lol
YAY ANOTHER WILD ARMS FAN. The OG is my favorite game of all time. It's super flawed by I adore it so much
Zoids: New Century... Heard you like MOFO TOURNAMENT ARCS
I loved the PS1 Inuyasha game!
It’s been years since I’ve played Astro Boy on the GBA. One of my friends had that game and I forgot how many times I beaten it
Taking shots at Star Ocean 3. Fight me Austin!
Omg omg omg Austin never leave us this long again ahhhhhhh
I just finished Astro Boy: Omega Factor just a few weeks ago! Now serendipitous!
It's a great legacy to Tezuka's work!
Anyone remember Bakugan Battle Brawlers? I had the DS game, and it was pretty alright. What got me to explore other games besides Pokémon when I was a teen. That, and my friend introducing me to the world of emulators.
