My account funds are just shy of getting the dlc so I haven’t been able to try that yet. I was very happy to see sor2 so high in the list.
A very solid list. And, yeah, the original Final Fight just has something special about the way it looks and feels that I really do love. None of the more modern non-pixel-based beat 'em ups work for me because I just don't like the art in any of them--not that it's impossible for to like any art but pixel art if it has an aesthetic that truly appeals to me--but the others are mostly all great.
Final Fight has the best physics to me. When a heavy guy jumps it is slow and lands early. When using a light character he can glide through the air for a while. The striking speed of each character is also correct. The ninja does strikes that have little wind up and instant recovery. And the wrestler has the slowest strikes but which have long range making your timing for attacks feel different. The spinning attacks are also 360 degrees defensive moves. In Streets Of Rage when doing what is the equivalent of the "crowd control" attack, the enemies behind you and in front of you get hit but not the ones in the plane above or below you. Final Fight has the correct collision detection which lets you hit enemies slightly above and below you when you do a spinning attack as well as ones from behind and in front of you. Overall Final Fight is a much better designed game in terms of play mechanics. SOR however has more features. But the characters in SOR feel off to me because they don't move the way you think they should move based on the height and weight of the characters. Eg Adam should have faster walking speed because he is a black dude. The white guy should have more heavy handed attacks that feel more defensive while Adam should be more offensive. As for the girl character she should have just been a ninja that can dash attack enemies not a standard speed character.
Going to the arcades back in the 80's and playing the earliest beat em up games like Renegade and Double Dragon, I didn't expect Streets of Rage 4 to be so awesome. My cousin and I played Sega Genesis a ton including Streets of Rage. It's great to see a game like that not only play like the classics but being far more a blast to play. I really liked the 8-bit era of beat em ups. Certainly 16-bit looked better. But I really liked the NES versions of Double Dragon, Double Dragon II, Renegade, River City Ransom, and Kunio series made by Techno's. Probably my all time favorites. River City Ransom Underground and River City Girls are also great. These are the games I play. Minecraft can suck it!(your welcome!)
So glad to see Vendetta there, thought for sure nobody remembered it. it was one of my favorites. Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder Arcade was really good too and never got an official home console release.
Great list! 5 of my 6 favorite beat'em ups are on it. Just wish Night Slashers was on it too. That game is so unique and has nice mechanics. The whole concept of beating up horror characters is great ^^
Man the memories back in the days it was all about beat ‘em ups. My favorite was punisher,Cadillacs,Streets of rage 2,d&d and final fight. But Cadillacs and punisher and street of rage 2 were the top for me. I think it’s time to play street of rage 4. Thanks for reminding us the good old times.
@@parallaxview2143 I only played 1 and 3 because the emulator I was using to play Sengoku 2, somehow couldn't run it. As a child I played Sengoku 1 and as an adult I played Sengoku 3.

A very fun video to watch. I recently picked up Castle Crashers Remastered and struggled on the River Level. The clip you showed allowed me to see how best to complete the stage using better attack patterns and strategies, and I wanted to thank you for showing that sequence.
Most reviews, Captain Command, Double DRAGON II, Street of Rage I be mentioned. Some of them might include Renegade, Altered Beast, Moonwalker, Crude Buster. And from the modern gaming era Muramasa Damon Blade.
It's got all my must haves...Guardian Heroes, AVP, SoR2, D&D. It's interesting that the Neo Geo has so many great fighters but I couldn't really argue for any of its beat'em ups to be included. Sengoku 3 probably the best but a little obscure. I think the Double Dragon series is almost unplayable, especially compared to the Kunio-kun/River City Ransom games.
Perfect! What a great list! The only thing I'd do, is switch Turtles in Time arcade version for the Turtles in Time SNES version. Just a personal opinion.
No doubt the top spot was going to be either Streets of Rage 2 or Final Fight, but some of those other spots are seriously in contention. Guardian Heroes should not be as far back as it was. -The game has multiple characters to play the main story through -The Story itself has multiple endings so you have massive replayability -it has a 6 player free for all arena mode -ALL of the characters you encounter in the game are unlockable for arena mode -your characters level up rpg style, at the end of each level -The Undead warrior rocks! -you having a flaming bunny name Nando on your side. Nice that it made the list considering that not many encountered this game in the wild...
Agree that Guardian Heroes is one I come back to. I also come back to the D&D games and SoR2. Guardian Heroes probably has greatest art production value of any beatem up. It also has great music. Basically what SoR2 did for the early 90s Guardian Heroes did for the late 90s.
@@gildedvulture7965 SAXOPHONE SOLO!!! Much as I love Guardian Heroes I don't think it should be THAT high...but definitely just a little bit higher. My justification is that the difficulty spikes are extremely annoying to manage. While the block is definitely broken, getting caught in oversized spell explosions and other crazy shit isn't very fun. I would have benefitted from a 4 player story mode. As it is, something feels uneven...holding the game back so to speak.

Yes! Brings back a lot of memories of playing beat em ups with my friends. Jaleco used to make Brawl Brothers and Peacekeepers, which we liked, and we played any Ninja Turtles, Final Fight, Double Dragon, or Streets of Rage game. Life was so simple. School and games!
TheMidnight Don I'm with you there. I remember rushing home from school in the 90s wanting to play my computer games before homework. Knights of The Round, Final Fight and Mortal Kombat were my favourite (if you call MK a beat em up)but I found getting any daily frustrations out with a beat em up game very satisfying! Life was more simple!
@@greenkitty82 That's awesome. You loved MK, too. Me and my best friend would practice MK together and even take the strategy guides to school and study them. Then we'd challenge people in the neighborhood and at the arcades. Fun times! You're right. Those games really help you get frustrations out and provide a good distraction from life even now. The difference today is being an adult shortens your playtime but it still happens!
TheMidnight Don oh yeah, I absolutely love Mortal Kombat and still play the 90s original and the latest one on PS4. Not as much time as you say to play but I try to set aside an hour or two every so often. To see real people as the characters was such a "wow" breakthrough in the 90s. I didn't have the guides to take to school but I would get the sega cheats and the fatalities/special moves off school friends - particularly sub zero as he's my favourite. It's strange how cool we thought it was for him to rip someone's spinal cord out! But kids are smart, they know it's not real, just a bit of gruesome escapism! I think as humans we all like to see a bit of physical combat and competition hence this best beat em up video.

SOR2 is the Greatest Beat up of All Time and Final Fight is 4th best with TMNT Turtles in Time in 2nd and Streets of Rage 4 in 3rd and X-men Arcade 5th
I agree.
Sor2 is the best console beat em up and better than Final Fight Snes, but Final Fight Arcade is definitely best ever.
Facts bro
FF fan boys please stop, nothing is touching SOR as a trilogy.
The Punisher is first imo
Knights of the round, King of Dragons. That 2 was my favourite with Final Figth and Streets of rage 2.
This video is good! One can argue so many games were missing... for me missing on his list... Bad Dudes, Battletoads, Captain Camando and Comix Zone! Thank you for the moment of nostalgia ❤
I need to learn spanish!
es el mejor golden axe de todos

Great list. Here are some honorable mentions from arcade platform: Captain Commando, Sengoku 3, Spiderman, Captain America and The Avengers.
Night Slashers 🔥🔥🔥
What an amazing video. The quality is incredible. You really did an amazing job editing this bad boy!! 💪💪💪👍👍👍
Cadillac and Dinausor... Número Uno! Gracias por el vídeo. Buen tema!
Violent Storm looks awesome. Why that's never gotten a re-release in any sort of retro collection is beyond me. That soundtrack is rocking too.
Nice list, dude. It showed me some games that seem pretty great that I've never played.
Same...the remakes now are too cartoony
@@UToobUsername01 I agree with you. The real reason FF was so great was because they completely nailed the feel. It just feels awesome to play.
Shadow of Mystara le gana :v

Ese si que si
Muchas gracias por el recopilatorio !
Great job
Going to the arcades back in the 80's and playing the earliest beat em up games like Renegade and Double Dragon,
I didn't expect Streets of Rage 4 to be so awesome.
Excelente Top y homenaje!! Agrego "The King of Dragons", "Knights of the Round" y "Captain Commando" juegazos de Capcom 💪🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yeah .King of dragons..Armored warriors..Night slashers...Robo army..
The king of dragons esta buenisimo
Final Fight 3 was my favorite installment in the series. I’m hoping for a new entry like Streets of Rage 4 or a remake of the previous 3 in the series
No remakes. But a 4th new final fight game would completely kick ass
FF3 is way better than people want to admit. Better graphics, cleaner controls, more moves. It's awesome
Personally thought Final Fight 2 and 3 sucked balls. The first one is the goat
So glad to see Vendetta there, thought for sure nobody remembered it. it was one of my favorites. Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder Arcade was really good too and never got an official home console release.
Vendetta is incredible
Excellent list! Glad to see Cadillacs and Dinosaurs to get mentioned. It's often overlooked.
Excelent title no doubt
Great list! 5 of my 6 favorite beat'em ups are on it. Just wish Night Slashers was on it too. That game is so unique and has nice mechanics. The whole concept of beating up horror characters is great ^^
1 Cadillacs and Dinosaurs
2 Capitán Comando
3 Super Double Dragon
Mención especial a Comix Zone de Sega Génesis
Super double dragon 💪
The punisher was so fun because you pick up a multitude of different weapons and use them....great graphics...good game play.
I'm happy, mate. This list brings back so many great memories of every one of these games. Thank you!
Very good ranking it still has many others like Captain commando, or more recent like the takeover ^^ !!!!!!!!!!!
Good list 👍... but where is the konami's Asterix ?.. i love it ! 🙂
Thanks for the memories. I enjoyed many of these back in the days but some I've never heard of!
There was this awesome game for the Neo-Geo console called "Sengoku", which mixed the genre with Japanese myths. It was absolutely awesome.
Sengoku 3 was great
Sengoku 3 is my fav beat em up on the Neo-Geo, along with Burning Fight
Sengoku 2 is very good. Lots of atmosphere.
@@parallaxview2143 I only played 1 and 3 because the emulator I was using to play Sengoku 2, somehow couldn't run it. As a child I played Sengoku 1 and as an adult I played Sengoku 3.
@@teachersama I spent way too much money on the MVS for Sengoku 2. They're all great games and all are quite different visually from each other. Makes a nice change from Final Fight anyway.
What a great list!! it covers a stellar array of classics!! All of then are must play!!
I recommend ‘Raging Justice’ for an excellent beat ‘em up from the modern era.
Guardian hero’s would be my number 1 easily outshines all the games on the list
Perfect! What a great list! The only thing I'd do, is switch Turtles in Time arcade version for the Turtles in Time SNES version. Just a personal opinion.
héhé, not a bad idea, it's only 2P, but the game is superior.
Turtles in Time was fantastic for the age and very viable now.
Right, this is because in the SNES version they improved the gameplay, and as a bonus Slash appears which is almost like a final boss xDD
No doubt the top spot was going to be either Streets of Rage 2 or Final Fight, but some of those other spots are seriously in contention.
Guardian Heroes should not be as far back as it was.
-The game has multiple characters to play the main story through
-The Story itself has multiple endings so you have massive replayability
-it has a 6 player free for all arena mode
-ALL of the characters you encounter in the game are unlockable for arena mode
-your characters level up rpg style, at the end of each level
-The Undead warrior rocks!
-you having a flaming bunny name Nando on your side.
Nice that it made the list considering that not many encountered this game in the wild...
I still have my Saturn and a copy of Guardian Heroes and I totally agree. It should've been top five easy. Great video though 😃
Agree that Guardian Heroes is one I come back to. I also come back to the D&D games and SoR2. Guardian Heroes probably has greatest art production value of any beatem up. It also has great music. Basically what SoR2 did for the early 90s Guardian Heroes did for the late 90s.
Totally agree. Guardian Heroes would be my number 1. The game I played most in the Saturn, way ahead of it's time
I agree
@@gildedvulture7965 SAXOPHONE SOLO!!!
Much as I love Guardian Heroes I don't think it should be THAT high...but definitely just a little bit higher.
My justification is that the difficulty spikes are extremely annoying to manage. While the block is definitely broken, getting caught in oversized spell explosions and other crazy shit isn't very fun. I would have benefitted from a 4 player story mode. As it is, something feels uneven...holding the game back so to speak.
All great games. Thanks for the video
Super double dragon its a master piece, soundtrack, the moves, everything is so cool
Magnífica lista, solo he echado en falta uno mis preferidos, el The King of Dragons. 👍👍🎮🎮👏😊
I really think that SOR4 is the top lvl beat them all of today. The replaybility is above any of the others (that I like too).
Eh.
@TheRadik
Great video. Well made. IMHO Captain Commando should be on the list and Knights of the round too.
Final Fight is my personal favourite.
I've never seen Violent storm . It looks great and very similar in style with vendetta another game I love. Loved character select screen music from vendetta at the end of the video.
Final Fight a good chunk of my childhood 😂 great list
This list feels authoritative!
God I love beat em ups. This brought back great memories of my childhood
Definitely missing Tecmo's Shadow Warriors and for me SOR2 is number 1, nice list though definitely some corkers on there and nice to see Guardian Heroes getting a look in, it was one of if not the best game on the Saturn👌
Love the effortful editing!
That Simpsons game doesnt get its fair due, thank you for making it #3!
Great list always hard to make a list with so many to choose from love final fight always be my nostalgic number 1 but where’s revenge of death adder ☹️
Gran video amigo!!
Where is Vigilante, Karate Blazers, The King of the Dragons, Captain Commando?😭
Vigilante is a 2D, we are talking 2.5D brawlers here, this top is missing The King of the Dragons for sure
I really like your presentation, Double dragon neon is so much fun to miss this list
I remember playing Golden Age on pc CGA where asking for another floppy whenever unleashing magic 😂 Older game teaches us patience.
