I recently decided to try this and several other techniques to turn glass and ceramic thrift store vases etc into aged pottery. I’ve found that adding a spray primer (I used rustolium) to the vase or pot etc first it’s less likely that whatever you add for texture will slip or break off.

Waverly chalk paint is the BOMB! FYI everyone, it’s not in the paint section - it’s in the craft section of Walmart. Only saying this because the paint department will tell you “We don’t have that” but, but it’s on your website . . . Found it in the craft section - GREAT for painting furniture.
If you want your pampas grass to look taller, stuff the vase with paper.

Great tutorial. I love the idea of leaving some of the joint compound showing. Also, your tapping effect really does make the piece authentic. Thank you for taking your time to show us how we too can make these lovely vessels. Stacy

Oh my gosh!! You did an amazing job!! It looks like a heavy aged vase, but when you turned around and picked up the vase to show us, I gasped, because it appeared so light and it reminded me what it was, a cheaper light wood vase. Really, you did an awesome! (New subscriber)
