Thanks for watching Pug, and for your honest comment. No shame in stating your own opinion 🙌🏻 We realize not everyone will like what we do, your honesty is refreshing.
So far I did as well, going to finish watching to see what transpires.☺️ Well, in my opinion the “taupe” color was the same as the base color. Oh well, it’s beautiful. Everyone achieves beauty in their own steps. Thank you for this video! I just purchased my first vase to try this technique with.

Thank you for sharing this video, and it’s looks so nice! And you are right in the store at the furniture section I have seen them and the prices are so high and it’s better that we make our own with that’s looks of old vase or pot. Thank you again 💛💛💛
I love the ,my husband went to Lowe's to get me some dry wall last year for me to cover a base but brought back stucco(not sure if spelling lol) and it worked awesome just little more work but I used my hands .your idea looks so easy thanks for sharing
Ken, you're so kind! Thank You! ❤️ We truly appreciate you watching our video and for your kind comment. Please let us know if there are ever any specific videos you'd like to see us make. Thanks again!
Seems like a lot of work but the results are great. I am definitely using your method, just started to collect my vases and platters. Thanks for sharing.
We me K-Lee and Molly Brown love the dirt in any craft project, From Austin Texas and me K-Lee and Molly Brown 🤠 Me K-Lee and Molly Brown give you two thumbs up
Aren't they so much fun to create?! 🙌🏻 It's even more satisfying to know we can recreate a high end find from a store at a fraction of the cost! Thanks for watching!
I just came across your channel. I really enjoyed your tutorial on your pots.. I was wondering, have you ever done anything like this or similar that would allow you to put the pots outside?? If so, can you share?? Thanks again for the great video!
We're glad you found our channel Connie! Thanks so much for watching, we're glad you enjoyed this tutorial. You could use this method on an outdoor pot if you applied outdoor sealer to it. We have also done another method using saltwash that we have had displayed outside. ua-cam.com/video/7LhFGXF_1sM/v-deo.html
Thanks so much Mary Ellen! We do have a couple videos of the technique we used for the plaster pot. This technique can be used on just about anything, so in this video we transformed some dated ceramic bunnies. ua-cam.com/video/SxsUqDam7mE/v-deo.html You can also see another glass pot we transformed using this same technique here: www.hometalk.com/tv/decorate/44287847/faux-old-stone-pots
Here's a link to the same technique we used on the plaster vase: www.2thesunnyside.com/re-purpose-thrift-or-dollar-store-bunny/ the video for the vase was published on hometalkTV. www.hometalk.com/tv/decorate/44287847/faux-old-stone-pots
Thanks Susan. The colors we used are: Dark grey: Vulcanite (Behr smaple) Brown: Autumn brown (Delta Ceramcoat) Taupe: Perfect Taupe lightened by 75% (Behr sample) Hope that helps! Happy crafting!
The mixture is joint compound (sheetrock mud), water and dirt to give it texture. Add a little water to thin the mixture to a spreadable consistency, and add as much or little dirt as you want for added texture.

Thanks for watching Analyn, that's a great question. I talked about it in the video, I didn't actually film this part, but I let the drywall mud start to harden up a little bit and then I used the sponge to dap it a little bit to knock off any peaks and smooth out the texture a bit. I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Wow, there's a lot of stuff on that vase! Way to much joint compound. You're better off going lighter and using your hands wearing nitrile gloves. Go around the vase instead of dabbing which, creates a bumpy build up. Go all around the vase with the compound. You can add coffee grinds or paint. You will get a textured look, but it will be more like something you'd find at West Elm. Textured, refined, aged, distressed. Don't dab on the joint compound.
Thanks for your input. There are definitely A LOT of different methods and desired outcomes around. We can picture how beautiful your method would look.
Your technique is my favorite of over 7 videos I have watched. The color layering makes all the difference. Thank you
You are so sweet! Thank you for watching, we're glad you liked our technique.
I actually like it in its natural state with the dirt and dry wall mud before painting.....both looks amazing!

Cornmeal is also used in place of dirt.

Thanks so much Mary! It's crazy to think it's the same vase right? Thanks for watching our channel!
You sprayed primer first?
Looks amazing.
Awe thank you! Yes we applied primer first because we were experimenting a little bit and I wanted to make sure the vase would take the drywall mud.

Great tutorial. I’d love it if you could tell us exactly which paints you used. That brown is great.

Have a question about the use of the dirt. If you were going to paint it white and use accent colors, what was the purpose of the dirt?
Great question Vikki. The dirt adds texture 😀
Hello I like is so cute
Thanks so much for watching Nolva! ❤️
This is amazing!!
Quick question tho - what was that you mixed up with the dirt?
Hi Gold Giwa, thanks for watching! We used "All Purpose Joint Compound". You can get these premixed at your local hardware store. Hope that helps.
Can one use a paper- or shop-towel in lieu of coffee filter?
Yes, those should work well also. Thanks for watching!
Bonjour magnifique je peux savoir c'est quoi le mélange que vous avez appliquer sur le vase s'il-vous-plaît 7 pattes
The mixture is joint compound (sheetrock mud), water and dirt to give it texture. Add a little water to thin the mixture to a spreadable consistency, and add as much or little dirt as you want for added texture.

What happened to the wet sponge, you didn’t show how to use it with the wet sponge 🧽, are you suppose to smooth it out?
Thanks for watching Analyn, that's a great question. A “titch”?
It doesn't really matter how much you add, the texture and consistency is up to you.
