    You need to train both with and without hand protection. Don't damage your hands by punching too hard, but get used to the placement of the correct knuckles when you're hitting something. Too much padding allows you to cheat a little, so training with different glove sizes forces you to stay honest. Again, take care of your hands, but try new things and don't be a superhero the first time you do. Good video, I'm gonna go grab some of these gardening gloves... maybe plant some tomatoes too.

      But those hands are money makers. Mess 'em up and you don't make money. For a pro, I understand why they don't wanna take the risk. But, if what this guy is saying is true, maybe padding causes more injury in the long run.

      Jivan Grewal look at Ali, Duran, marciano, Chavez, etc. they all used to train with no padded gloves . The used to wear just leader mitts to protect the skin. Those guys used to hit like a hammer because of this method.

      Word, I've been hitting the heavy bag bareknuckle for over ten years and never once injured myself. I bled when I first started but once the skin toughened I never had an issue again. The only time I've hurt myself training was while wearing gloves because I either landed at a weird angle or I hyperextended from missing. I want to try the garden gloves though as I wonder if I unconsciously pull my punches when they arent covered.

    • @datboi5979
      @datboi5979 6 років тому

      Jivan Grewal exactly, I can imagine I'd hurt someone with a bodyshot with a glove on but I feel I'd hurt my hand more then hurt them if it was bare knuckle. There's so shock absorbent there.

      100% right. Don't forget to think about your 60-70 year old self and what your quality of life might be because of the decisions you make when you are young. Heavy bag and bare hands make sense for some such as pro's and top amateurs aspiring to be a pro, but for most folks maybe not. If you decide it is for you, go easy at first (don't go all out), build slowly, and concentrate on form/technique.

      LHudson ART/LIFTS that would make sense except that i don't think the bones get bigger, just denser from the inside. have u noticed any difference in dexterity? i punched the heavy bag regularly when i was in college wearing just canvas gloves. i did bust a capsule in my knuckle that a dr looked at. it healed up ok. since i quit playing for about 20 yrs & then resumed about 7 yrs ago, i wouldn't b able to tell if it affected my dexterity. good luck in your endeavors.

      Thanks man and the same to you! I actually have a photorealstic drawing that I finished of floyd and manny on my channel if you have a second to check it out! The bones actually do get a little larger but that would be from many years(have you ever seen bare knuckle fighters hands? Their knuckles are huge) but yes mainly denser, everytime we pretty much do anything our bones get micro breaks and the osteo cells(can't remember their proper name) get to work on repairing them but for them to change significantly in size it would take a while for any difference so I think we will be fine bud!

      I've had a lot of fights on the streets.A fight at least every day, or every other day , for about 10 years.When I would fight I would throw alot of punches ,the way i twisted into The punch,(incorrectly) and often hitting with the lower part of my knuckles, I would often bust open my knuckles .The more it happened the easier it became for them to bust.I've had several hand infections(cellulitis) from hitting people in the mouth (highly infectous bacteria).Now I have a large amount of scar tissue on both my top knuckles and my lower knuckles.My hands are practically, but not completely,useless for anything that requires alot of dexterity.Its difficult moving my fingers and a bitch to type on a phone like I do now.I have arthritis in one hand from a boxers fracture that needed pins ,but I never got the surgery.If I were you ,i would stick with piano or guitar.Fighting life style gets you nothing but damaged usually.Brain damage , other physical damage,jail or prison time,bragging rights ,thats nothing to be proud of. That's about it ,stick with the music.You'll be A better man for it.Sorry so long.And so late.

      i believe u. that's y a lot of martial arts instructors say to use palm strikes instead, when ur in a real fight. i've had my share of fights & luckily haven't hurt myself badly. i'm just wondering if a person were to slowly build up to punching the bag hard, over a period of months, if that would toughen the knuckles w/out affecting dexterity too much. that's what i did later when i was in college. but since that was so many yrs ago & i started playing guitar again after not doing so for 20+ yrs, i can't tell if it had any detrimental effect on my playing. my doctor discouraged me from punching the heavy bag w/out any protection, no matter how i went about it. take care.

    The same applies for great Muay thai fighters. Build those shins to the point where their nerves are dead on their shins. But it's also known those fighters are often on opiates to get on with their days after their career's done (whose retirement is on average 25-30 years of age due to how fucked up their body is after about 100 fights).

    • @Countey
      @Countey 6 років тому

      Same here but my knuckles has gotten stronger by hitting the heavy-bag bare hand by the time I got a small injury on the skin above the knuckle so it was worth the pain for me

    • @jcod1239
      @jcod1239 6 років тому

      ItzCountey I get like a pain around my middle knuckle like it’s a bruise on the inside , but that’s good though

    • @Countey
      @Countey 6 років тому

      Jcod 123 Yeah the strength increases by then but you shouldn't overdo it

    • @jcod1239
      @jcod1239 6 років тому

      ItzCountey oh ok makes sense but like my right hand I can hit the bag hard and not feel much pain , but my left hand has always had that bruise like pain

    • @Countey
      @Countey 6 років тому

      Jcod 123 That's because your naturally used to the right side of your body if I'm right and the other side can easilly feel pain that's pretty much same for me

    i used to punch my wall to strengthen my knuckles to the point where i was able to punch the wall with full force without feeling the pain with a lil bit of padding from paper towels, this thing with the gardening gloves will strengthen your wrists.

      Jamie Parson yes you can...it's wolf's law, you make little micro fracture in the bone and it fills with more bone making them bigger and stronger, but you have to build up the strength gradually or risk serious injury

    The interviewer is annoying. Shouting over and interrupting every time the interviewee opens his mouth to explain something. Sounds like a little kid hungry to let you know he knows something and just has to walk over your conversation.

    I do not agree with that guy, too much risk of injury. If ya want tough hands do what bruce lee did, thrust fingers in to bag filled with certain things. Bruce lee then was able to thrust his fingers through unopened cans of coke.
