Legend has it one Naboo N-1 star fighter took down an entire Trade Federation Lucrehulk class droid control ship and single-handedly won the battle of Naboo.
But that was not a story you can hear from a jedi its a sith legend
It’s the pilot that skewed the results and not the ship itself. This is what happened to Anakin’s pod racer, since he won the race Quigon was able to sell it at a premium because it belonged to the recent winner and people were willing to buy it but there is no guarantee the new owner will be as skillful to win the race too just because the previous owner and user did.

That is so much Batha Poodoo. An N-1 wold have to be INSIDE the ship to even be able to damage a Lucrehulk, and with so many droid ships and turrets around, how could a normal pilot even get CLOSE to it, any attempt would be a pure suicide run. No, I am sure the official report of a trade federation maintenance failure disabling the control towers deflector screens, thus allowing a systematic assault on them by fighters, and a planned demolition of the reactor systems after the battle done by Naboo security forces is much more accurate and realistic.
I find it kinda funny that it's labelled as a luxury starfighter. Mando's basically flying around with a hot-rodded Rolls Royce.
I've been calling the N1 a Rolls-Royce fighter for some time now, and that comparison is more accurate than you might think. After all, Rolls-Royce has historically been involved in producing military components (one of their most famous being their Merlin engine of WW2) along with their luxury vehicles, and they are still producing engines for military vessels today - for aircraft, ships, and even subs.
Sadly, as far as I have been able to tell, they never built an entire aircraft of their own, so the comparison cannot be entirely accurate, but it is still arguably the closest.

According to aerodynamic test, the N-1 has the most aerodynamic design of any fighter in star wars.
Also it's also a very well designed fighter too if you think about it. With its laser cannons close to it and its low and thin profile making it harder to hit.
What’s even crazier is that irl aircraft still dwarf the N-1 in terms of aerodynamic design.

True. I just looked it up and it has a drag coefficient of .1 out of a number between 1 and 0. For comparison the standard TIE has .98. Nearly a cube.
However for a real world comparison, the F-4 Phantom has a DC of .02. And that was considered a flying brick.

Tbf, aerodynamics don't really matter in space
So, it could fly IRL?
It would have made an ideal Jedi Knight ship in the pre Clone Wars era.
They could afford the expense, and it's refinement and environmentally considerate design would fit in with their philosophy.
It would just need a paint job to Jedi colour schemes, such as Judicial Forces red.
But as far as capabilities it ticked all the boxes..... and it didn't leave a vulnerable hyperspace ring unattended in orbit. It even allowed a full sized astromech to be carried.

The biggest weakness for the Nabo Starfighter was, It was custom made in not suitable for mass production.
I'm quite sure about Palpatine used as influence to make sure a version suitable for mass production was not available for the Clone Wars

The N-1 Naboo Starfighter is one of my favorite Starfighters in Star Wars along with the ARC-170 and X-Wing
The N-1 is the luxury sedan of Starfighters. Definitely awesome but not practical for me to buy. I’d probably end up with a U-wing, the used cargo van of starwars.

As someone who had a Lego Naboo Starfighter I can confirm as well, that they are quite cool.
I have a feeling the Naboo may have taken some inspiration from the Gungan Bongo submarines, when they came up with the design for the N-1 Starfighter.

The N-1 starfighter is very good but his big weakness is that he is to expensive
The Naboo royal guard used it so it was expected to be honest
it was hand made, if they actually set up machining for it they could probably put out hundreds a day.
The N-1 is by far the best looking Star Wars ship (in both canon and the EU)
Love the N1s, they are one of my favorite starfighters from the prequal movies. I wish we these amazing craft featured more in video games so we could fly these beautiful vehicles. We got SWB2 from 2017 on only one map in just one mode, Lego Star Wars, and Battle for Naboo(this one allows us to use multiple different N1 variants like the bomber and police cruiser) to list some of the few examples where we could.
Such an underappreciated craft, but beloved by us fans.
I loved the Bomber variant. Especially, when you could just fly out of ground fire range and just drop your payload.
I'm legitimately so Happy this video came out. I have Loved the N-1 even since I was a kid. Their sleek and hornet like design is very cool and I honestly love all of the Naboo starcraft we see in Episode 1.
The only one better is the blue security services variant. Blue is just nicer than yellow =p

This goes to show everyone the strengths and weaknesses of independent and small companies when it comes to star fighters or self defense forces that the later Galactic Empire would have fall short in its weapons manufacture.
I believe the naboo royal starfighter corp got a big budget increase after episode one , and again during the clone wars/ birth of the empire
The N-1 star fighter from Naboo is one of my personal favorites in Star Wars
It has speed, shields, proton torpedo's, and hyperdrive
Another is the Republic ARC-170 Star fighter, and Droid Tri-pod star fighter
If Naboo invested more into their military, they could probably take on a role similiar to Eriadu's. Naboo has plasma deposits, and if they exploit them properly, they can gather enough resources to become a local military powerhouse. Their designs are great, they only lack in numbers.
The Naboo N-1 reminds me of the luxury sports police cars used in Dubai.

In the original Rogue Squadron, the Naboo starfighter is a secret unlockable ship. It's a little fragile and piloting it takes some getting used to. But once you've got it down it's a fun little ship. Relevant to this video? Meh. It just adds that extra layer of appreciation.

I once did some rpg stuff where I had a trading company with several lucrehulk.. for security we had a very small contingent of 4 to 6 mandalorians and several of these fighters per ship... reduced piracy losses no end.. not to mention allowed us to get away with all kinds of dodgy stuff.. Good old days..
I like the other ones too, because I first saw them in that kick ass N64 game, Battle for Naboo.
I love Naboo N1, it always had that speedy look to it.
Was so jealous that their ships were slick and elegant I thought Earth should take spacecraft design after Naboo and Mon Cala ship designs. Truly an exemplar of a more elegant age

In the original rogue squadron for n64 there was a combination of cheat codes you could enter and it unlocked the n-1 naboo statfighter. As a kid it was the only ship I flew in that game once i figured it out, unless of course i had to use a y-wing.

I've always liked the design. Although I can't believe the "they made the engines more environmentally friendly, increasing speed". That's not how things work. This truly is a fantasy.
Its fast and agile BUT many others are just as quick an nimble. Its big issues in the trade off seemed to be it lacked armor an firepower judging from the struggle shown in the movie. Despite claims of having good firepower
Good firepower vs peers, not so much vs capital ships. It is silly to me Naboo wouldn't have a bomber as part of the palace security forces, if only to dissuade capital ships from threatening their trade lanes. The N-1 was no match for even a corvette thanks to lack of penetrating weapons and heavy missiles.
Honestly i really like the n-1 bomber it kinda gives lancaster vibes with the engine placment but i think they should have lengthend the body and the cockpit making it have two seats similar to a real world f-14 tomcat instead of it basically being a regular n-1 with 2 more engines strapped on.
I honestly loved the N-1's design (had several toys of it back in the day), just wish it was featured in a better movie.
Unpopular opinion: I think that Mando's new ship is actually a Naboo Police Cruiser based on the third engine behind the cockpit. It could just be an N1 variant that sought to get that third engine from the Cruiser, but I like to think it's the cruiser design.
There weren't too many differences in shape between the two from the Battle for Naboo game other than a sharper nose profile and weaker weaponry, besides the paint color and engine
I actually like the N-1T and the NB-1S, though the rest of the variants could totally use a redesign
I love the N1 so much. I actually do like the N1T and the bomber versions. I was excited to hear that the N1 would make a return in the mandalorian series, but thoroughly disappointed when they butchered it into...whatever that kitbashed monstrosity is. The whole appeal of the N1 is how sleek and clean it is, making it truly unique among star wars ships; removing that removes the appeal of its design. It's a ship that speaks of being designed by intelligent minds from a civilized high-culture, whereas most other star wars ship designs speak of rugged "bang-for-buck" industrialism or oppressive militaristic might. Shape language is important in fiction: far more than practically I'd argue, unless the genre is hard scifi.
What I was first saw it in the movies at a young age, I originally thought the ship was backward cause I was used to pointy thin cone as the front seen in many irl space shuttles and planes
I'd love to hear you do a video about Nym's ship, the Scurrg H-6 prototype bomber. It's featured in Star wars Starfighter and is a Nubian design that was marketed to naboo a few years before the Battle of naboo.

I loved this ship so much when it became available in star wars galaxies I left the rebellion so I could fly it and I was a general but could never find one saddest moment in gaming history
The sexiest starfighter
Rearward visibility is another weakness. Especially with that R-2 unit's head in the way.
To be fair, I think that applies to practically all the fighters in Star Wars. The only one that has great rear visibility, is the Genosian fighter with its bubble canopy similar to the P-51D or F-16. The next best, that I can think of off the top of my head, is the A-Wing.
I just wish they made the astromech socket make more sense. It's really silly the legs and head telescope out to fit.
N1 and some of it bomber variants did not look to bad but I think they could be improved upon

I will die on the hill that Episode I was the most interesting and most cinematic of the prequel trilogy. The story was flawed, and a lot could have been fixed in editing, but it's the only prequel film that I consider worth bothering with.
Elegant and swift.
I used stripped, barebone N-1s in my Dark Times campaign as a nice visual transition from regal, Republican peacetime ships to look of Y-Wings and other cannibalized Rebel starfighters.
I wish Bandai would've made a model kit of it.

They didn’t, originally. The Amazons were more technologically advanced than Man’s World in the earliest comics, but those WWII stories were still published about 10 years before commercial jet airplanes. Her original “silent, transparent plane” had a propeller on the nose. It wasn’t until much later that it got a cloaking device and became a jet.

Cursed looking or not, they came up with solutions to problems the N1 couldn’t solve. For a single planet to produce anything unique and not just buy off established manufacture is unique and admirable within the lore and itself imho.
How feasible they’d be on galactic scale to produce however? lol, ya, imagine a ship designed to spec of a despot’s desires would cost a mint 😂

Its not the best because too few where produced, too expensive, and they had little impact outside of the Naboo system. It is good looking though.

Meh. They're only genius because the Rogue Squadron simulation missions made them quite overpowered fighters than they are in reality.
Now, if you excuse us, we'll be doing some valid engineering work for TIE Defenders and X-83 Twintails pertaining to missions to Hell, another doomed Metropolis, and some other Crisis on Infinite Earths.
