Obviously the Republic had never heard of the Quartering Act. When civies are kicked out of their home to give soldiers somewhere to live, it’s not a shock when the citizens revolt.
Sidious was also steadily changing the constitution during the duration of the war
Issue of quartering soldiers is so important that here in America is the third amendment to our constitution that soldiers cannot be quartered in civilian homes without resident consent. Even ahead of jury trials, right to a lawyer, and even ban of torture.
Love the Revolutionary War reference.
@@Mortabluntthere’s a way around it

Fucking facts. The fact that some idiots want war to happen in our backyard is depressing
The Battle of Coruscant could've had half a season dedicated to it, composed of 2 overlapping Arcs, and it would've been full of great content given all that occured there in both canon and legends.
fr
tbh an entire season with the last episodes showing heavy effects that bled over from what happened. Three episodes about the surface fighting. Three to four about routing the underworld. The last couple about the fallout, push into the outer rim sieges, and how the terror cells eventually started fighting against the empire.
What, you’re not happy with getting the martez sisters and a boring prison break/smuggling run?
Considering how TCW handled&treated Legends continuity even when it was estabilished canon, you'd still recieve couple more martez sister arcs💀
@@mrzirak792 dude hush

Thing is, you didn’t really talk about the sizable middle class population on Coruscant that much. They were actually almost exclusively loyalists at the beginning of the war, but as it dragged on they began to suffer because funding for schooling and public works was going to the GAR. They only started to have some major separatism towards the end of the war because of this.
interesting!! did you read it in a book/comics?
Yeah. This is an issue I take with a number of Coruscant-related Star Wars Lore videos.
I bet there are many videos about that topic. I'm ok with it as focused videos tend to be more in-depth but also more manageable than a six hour video comprising everything about a place or event, etc.
I just realized that the people in the lower levels are literally BELOW the poverty line
*queue Jabba the Hutt laugh *
Probably meant to be a metaphor or something.
I'd imagine it's like an even more intense version of Taris from the Old Republic with the Undercity. And in Legends, it would eventually share the fate of Taris too, even if from a very different source... yet again wishing one day for movies about *that* invasion.
Clone commandos definitely have some of the darkness stories

Hmm… it’s awfully convenient for Palpatine that the very battle in which he was kidnapped was the same battle in which Coruscant Separatists became bold enough to expose themselves. Helps eliminate opposition to ensure a peaceful transition (to the Empire).
That is strange? Think palpatine is working with the separatists
@@MusicWisp what? That can`t be. Look at him: He is the embodiement of all the virtues the Republic stands for.
@@LoobyrexTBF, most of the loyalists and separatists didn’t know Palpatine was playing both sides of the war.
This would have been an amazing clone wars arc
I find it ironic that the Palpatine's ideal of sacrificing a few freedoms for order and stability and how it was forced on the citizens of Coruscant gave way for them to join the Separatists. I'd bet some that survived were eager to join the Rebel Alliance when that became a thing 20 years later.
Babe, wake up. Geetsly’s uploaded another Clone Wars video

After hearing about this, the fact that the Separatists did not win at the Battle of Coruscant baffled me because even I doubted Palpatine's manipulation and careful planning can save Coruscant from such a fate. Yes, he can saved himself by using the Jedi. But saving Coruscant? No. It should have been a victory for the Separatists.
The separatist army and navy were both heavily out numbered, there were entire naval armadas, thousands of ships which have never been seen throughout the war made up of Imperial star destroyers and other new tech which caught the CIS completely off guard in what was suppose to be a surprise attack the republic had no way of seeing coming, there was simply no way for the separatists to win the battle.
If I were General Grievous, I would’ve jumped into Hyperspace the Moment Palpatine made it onto the Invisible Hand.
The thought of a coruscant rave full of clone troopers 😍😍
Honestly i thought he said raid
Like who was the unlucky guy to get raided by fucking commandos
@@silverbloodborne9495 💀💀😭
During the time of the Rebellion, these unground Courscanty were useful in liberating the planet during the Galactic Civil War. but during the time of the Clone Wars they were another part that helped Palpatine's rise to power with their actions, which while justifiable, went overboard and scared people so badly they willingly gave up their own freedom for security. Scaring people never accomplishes anything, it just hurts, both the sacrers and the sacries, which is what the Empire did to both.
Depends. Scaring people when it came to seeing the horrors of Nazism and Communism sure has worked wonders, even if it hasn't yet meant the complete destruction of those hostiles.
@@michaelandreipalon359 Good point. Scaring can work for good, but like any great power like the Force itself, one must be careful because if not then it can be misused and cause great harm like with the scaring that was done here.
Very true. Relying on fear is a bad long term plan.
Then, we switch to hatred, which will also lead to wit, resolve, and good old bravery.
Ah
I see you've also read the prince
Jedi Knight and future Mandalorian Bardan Jusik was also part of this anti terrorist task force. One of my favourite characters who saw the path the Jedi were going down and decided to leave the order and become a Mandalorian.
Yeah, he was perfectly fine with a civilian getting killed. So much for the most moral guy. And no the narrative makes it clear that we are supposed to side with him who is perfectly fine with a civilian getting killed without due process as well as moral shortcuts being displayed. All the while he’s self-righteous acting like he’s making a stand when really all he’s doing is going with a bunch of warmongers that end up becoming a cult. A group of people that are perfectly fine with sending their children to war and are deeply misogynistic and xenophobic Then his entire order gets genocide, and he thinks that they “deserve it“. Our hero, everyone. 🙄
As kids we rooted for the Republic. Now, I’d be CIS anytime.
CIS isn’t that great either. The Republic just needed reform. The CIS was still corrupt and controlled by a “neutral” trade group. It was an oligarchy and was never intended to be functional or survive. It just had to serve its purpose until Palpatine could eliminate his enemies.
Imagine taking sides in Palpatine's game of Galactic chess. I'd take my chances on Mandalore or the Unknown Regions any day of the week. No Republic bureaucracy and no Separatist invasion. I see this as an absolute win -unless the Republic invades Mandalore or a certain First Order or Yuuzhan Vong were to find their way out here-

It’s not entirely related but I’ve always been intrigued to see something regarding the interactions between the Coruscanti humans and the Rakata, particularly during the collapse of the Infinite Empire.
It saddens me that awesome things like this remain in legends for now.
Fighting terrorism can never justify the act of removing people’s civil liberties and freedoms. In the United States, the Bill of Rights exists for a reason and right now there is a fight going on to either preserve those rights and stop/remove government and corporate overreach on those rights or to just do away with them entirely. I personally will never give up the freedoms that I was born with because freedom is not free and I will pay the cost for it even if it negatively affects me throughout until the end.
I have a feeling politicians from both sides want to throw the BOR away.
As a non American who lives next door and is directly effected by w/e happens down there. I wish more thought like you. 100% right imho.

One thing I realized only a little while ago is just HOW MUCH MORE THERE IS TO THE STAR WARS UNIVERSE THAN JUST IS SHOWN IN THE MOVIES. There are soooooo many books, spin off shows, comics, you name it! I need to start figuring out how I can fill the gaps in my own knowledge xD
I really like Timothy Zahn, but those clone commando books by Karen Traviss were the best. Love Kal Skirata. 🤘
Basically the Republic was playing Imperial demo mode
Corusant guard was badass.
I wish that TCW would also cover the war from the Separatists' point of view. Kids should learn that war is never about who's right or who's wrong. Only who is left.
Instead it just devolved into Ahsoka, Rex, and the 501st having adventures.
Love this vid! I think it’s cool to see clones used as counter terrorists and swat.
Jeez Geets continues to impress me with their videos, keep it up brother ❤
One of my top favorite novels in the republic commando series. Loved all the character stuff in that story.
Ah yes... the Mission of the Skirata Clan and Buddys. Love it to read it in the Book(s).
You also forgot to mention that along with skirata, etain, vau, and the commandos there were also null ARCs Ordo and Mereel, and clone trooper corr, who later became a commando
They had to makes this Storyline in the Clone Wars Series Because it is so good.
One of the best books.
A show entailing this, showing the republic as the evil organization they really are, in the style of Andor would go crazy.
Would be, sadly disney is in charge and doesn’t do nuance subjects, they’re more in the style of “Why are the good guys good? Because they’re the good guys. Why are the bad guys bad? Because they’re the bad guys.”
@@anthonyramirez9925 that's not entirely true, they have definitely shown quite a bit of darkness and obvious evil acts being done by certain rebel cells for the sake of "winning" of course our hero cells don't but I think this is a place where they can certainly show some of this nuisance
Just imagine if this world would've been a target for Operation Cinder.
Well it wouldn't have made much sense to be on the list, considering that it was still the capital of the Empire after Endor.
@@virgiljianu7166the whole point of cinder was to burn the empire’s resources and somewhat destroy it from within for failing to protect their emperor, from those objectives coruscant should have been a target
@@Emperor-Sheev-Palpatine5746 I mean ok, fair point, but it still would have most likely been one of the last worlds to be targeted since it was still important to the Empire.
@@Emperor-Sheev-Palpatine5746It definitely would’ve been interesting to see what the Galaxy would’ve been like post-ROTJ had Coruscant been targeted and ruined by Operation: Cinder.
the fact that there are more separatists on the capital of the republic then entire Separatists is wild
Security on a planet with the kind of nooks and crannies, and ships coming and going, not to mention the unimaginable population of Coruscant, would be impossible.
Yeah and the levels went extremely deep. Many uninhabited. Lots of places to hide.
Ah yes, Fox’s favourite hunting ground.
So the Coruscant underworld became Mexican Cartel wars
Loved Triple Zero, my favorite RC book
Imagine a Judge Dredd like episode of Vinson about said commandos.
This is Canon for me!
It is pretty god damn hypocritical for the Jedi to say they value life and equality when they live in their Ivory tower built on a mountain of rotting hab zones and millions of unrepresented poor people 💀
It’s an underlying symptom of the corruption of the Jedi. But also, the Jedi aren’t strong enough in number to make an active dent in the undercity. It’s potentially billions of people. I can’t recall how populated Coruscant is.
@@kingtigertheheavy2708To be honest though, do we ever see the Jedi even trying to help, truly? It would seem odd to me that they'd be willing to engage in diplomacy/policy with entire systems, but unwilling to engage in the same at home if the end goal is truly to help people. I guess the point here isn't that they don't have the numbers to help - the point is that their actions seem really hypocritical.
@@samc9133 I agree, they had truly become servants of the republic instead of the people
Millions? Try billions.
The Jedi did what they could, but printing money isn't a Jedi superpower. It was ultimately the fault of the senate.
The Underworld would have surrendered IMMEDIATELY if the Senate got involved.
Feels quite extreme, using up what is essentially Delta Force against a seditionist group in Washington D.C. in all but name and partial concept.
Anyway, now that you guys are done with Triple Zero, time to prepare for what is said to be Karen Traviss becoming a bit too madcap/unhinged from True Colors (no, not to be confused with Cyndi Lauper, Amphibia, Life is Strange, and so on) to Order 66.
I thought Karen Traviss "just wanna have fun.."
Oh holy shit, what a badass idea for a game haha. A commando game taking place on coruscant would be amazing haha
This seems in line with how Lucas was criticizing how brutal authoritarian regimes come about. Society had already become the galactic empire long before Palpatine officially changed the name.
Thanks so much once more Folks!
Since I'm here...
Would you Folk please consider doing a vid on the "Prisons" the Empire established throughout the Galaxy ?
I would love to learn more about places like Star's End [Mytos] (where Chewie was imprisoned until Solo broke him out) and Rattatak (where Kenobi was imprisoned briefly) as examples!!!
Thanks so much! :)
How Battle of Coruscant is still not a 6 episode season shows how Disney should be a convicted war criminal.
Thanks for your content as always and please know it's helped me get through this year.
I’m playing Star Wars: Republic Commando on my channel right now and I have to say that the battle of Kashyyyk in legends was also pretty brutal. 🥺
That was one of the biggest battles of the Outer Rim Sieges, and Kashyyyk was not even one of the "Triad of Evil"
@@alejandroelluxray5298 still, poor Wookiees 🥹
I'm a huge fan of the Underworld, I think it's a largely unexplored setting
Lmao the Commando's put in some work, the Nulls and Kal'buir did most of the heavy lifting.
That’s because they were the authors pet who could do no wrong. Never mind the fact that that said group was OK with shooting teenagers escaping from a genocide but remember kids they’re the good guys and we’re supposed to rule for everything they do even if it’s morally reprehensible. Oh yeah, and they had to be explained, why framing, an innocent person was a bad thing.
Task Force is overselling it. Let’s not forget this was, in Skirata’s own words, an unlicensed shoot to kill operation that the Jedi in charge of the special operations division was ‘overlooking’
“I don’t believe that, and you’re sounding like a Separatist.”
Pretty good work on this video. Will there be another one like this? About Coruscant underworld during reign of Empire and Galactic civil war.
When I was a kid reading these books I had a feeling it was a critique of the Patriot Act, but now it’s so blatant. Great storytelling but it definitely has a real world meaning
Star wars at its finest
Good rule of thumb in Politics, If everyone is unhappy you can be sure you are equal
Yes i want to know more about Coruscant in the clone wars
With all the Star Wars shows we've had lately, I'm shocked we've never had one focusing on life on the capital planet 🤔
Awesome story! Thank you
I had to stop the video when I realized it was about the book Triple Zero. I'm still reading it 😭😭
More underworld stories please👍
Don’t forget Bardan Jusik, and the fact that it was only three Nulls
The republic was already an empire, Palpatine just got it to double down.
Jooo not the description 😭🔥
Can someone please make this a reality with A.I. or something!?
GWA - Gossams with attitude
I can see it!
I really want the subject of the lowest levels to be explored more. I know its likely a hellscape but I want to know whats down there.
If I were Lucasfilm Games, I'd want to remake Republic Commando from the ground up so that it would adapt aspects of Karen Traviss's Republic Commando Novels (Delta Squad's mission to Mygeeto, Omega Squad's operation on Gaftikar, Delta and Omega Squad's "Authorized" crackdown on the Coruscanti Separatist terrorists etc.) alongside the missions that were in the original Republic Commando game.
i wonder if the cruise liner wasent secretly sabotaged by palpatine. afther all the former canseller was there even though it was 10-15 years since he lost power.
Funny coincidence. Yesterday I was on a date with my bf and we talked about those separatist supporters and the clone commandos being deployed there
More Coruscant during the clone wars, I love this
Whoever did the artwork on your thumbnail, it looks amazing.
Unrelated note but this art at 9:05 of Fordo looks awesome
I know late but I originally thought this is what the old Republic Commando game would have been about. The player would be fighting flesh and blood terrorists and probably some other criminal scum rather than battle droids being the primary enemies of the game
That explains why in Lege😊Clone wars Alpha 77 Captain Fordo was on the city world 😮
I didn't know their were so many separatist on coruscant.

My head canon reason why 65th CGs are called shock troopers is because they shock all bystanders with their brutality

“The reign of the Empire came early on Coruscant…” by the time of the formal declaration, the majority of the citizenry were probably all but desensitized to the authoritarian regime.
I can’t wait until the scale that star citizen is attempting gets applied to a star wars game
All sentient beings deserve freedom.
