Car sounds really good! It's a nice change of pace to not hear a turbo LS farty farty noise. Sounds like it actually has a fair amount of old school LS rasp which I don't mind at all. Hope you and the family are doing well.

Throw some flat tops in the motor and make some compression with that thing. That would be a nice compliment to that smaller sized blower. We have one locally that makes mid 600s to the tire with a stock bottom and LS3 with good heads and camshaft. Stock torqstorm pulley, 8# @ 7000rpm. Manual. 93.

You only seen 5 and some change. On e85 with a. 5.3 with truck Norris came 3600 stall I seen over 600whp

3.1 pulley, not 3.0. They dont do nothing smaller than 3.1 unless you go aftermarket for pulley then voids warranty

Hi matt, so is the 6l80 really worth swapping from a 4l80? I have a stalled 4l80 in my fairmont currently and im considering going to a zf 8hp70 from a jag xf and a turbolamik tcu, i cant make my mind up if its worth the hassle.

Happy New Year! As the cars get older we still expect them to drive like they used to, but strangely enough most of the parts are just worn out. I’m interested to see how well you get the six speed working, I’d like to go from my 4L85e to a 6L90e behind my 502 in my G body someday.
What converter do you have in the 6l80?
Do you think that dual torque storm setup would go 4 digits easier than the old truck setup?

What os/cal was used for the trans? you didnt say what you think your issue with the tapshift not engaging was.
oh man 09 truck, 11 camaro, 14 truck 16 truck varios flavors and sizes all did the same thing.
@@SloppyMechanics interesting. i do know the trucks/camaro's base tunes are different. im in Aus. so i use 24256025/24256125 with no issues, that covers 2010/2011 years. I can email u a tune from 1 of my own cars that uses hardware method, which im assuming your using.
@@TorqueupAu its going into the holley, and then the holley sends the shift signal to the ecu over canbus
@@SloppyMechanics right. i'd honestly just go hardwire method. save an input on the holley too i guess. the trans will still communicate that it's doing a shift back to the holley (id hope).
My truck went 90 days without starting, cranked for 3-4 seconds and it fired right up(ambient temp was 55°) I got on it and it did one of those low speed pops. After putting some fresh E85/98 and top lube in it it seemed to clear any issues up

Check your A-arm bushings. I had a Vette that did the same thing.
Your persistent resolve will sort it out. Its a cool car with tons of potential. I just hope it doesnt frustrate you into selling it prematurely. We all benefit immensely from your struggles. Happy new year Happel.

Should be look into the 8hp70 for transmission .
Expensive and need stand alone controllers
@@SloppyMechanics The transmissions are cheap but the controller and adapter plate definitely add up . But again its a much much better trans than the 6l80 especially in a daily . Nice clean crisp shifts , works especially good when you want to shift it yourself there's no delay .

Use the blue cat software to get the transmission tube corrected. I used it for a lifted k10 with a 5.3/6l80e and truck Norris cam and it the shift points are awesome now.

Oh okay, I thought I heard you say that it was lugging 5th and hunting gears. I would have to ask a buddy again but wasn’t there someone offer a DCT box to control the 6l80?

So with setting up the 6L80e with the Term X Max, does the hand held have to be used or can it be setup solely with the laptop like you can with Holley ECU? I’ve been curious on this because I have a similar setup that is in this Fairmont and want to throw it into one of my fullsize trucks.
If you match your donor transmission ecu tire and axle ratio exactly you might not have an issue,
You don’t have to use the handheld, you can wire this in and turn it on and it’s all there, for it to work best the transmission portion should be tuned imo as stock tuneups in 6l80’es are the reason they most often go bad ie poor lockup and shift strategies.
Hard question to answer it’s a can of worms but I’m using hp tuners and the terminator.
Almost anyone can load a tune onto the trans for you that has hptuners etc
