A Rat that loves the Moonlight. Poetic, especially given they’ve now dared to hope. Something both of them couldn’t do for a long time, as before the pain of being let down, and suffering despair and loss as too much. Now, they’re prepared to weather any storm as long as they’re together.

Honestly Drifter having a Hive God as a partner feels like a joke he tell at a bar to get gullible people to bet on it before cashing it on people.

A few other guardians turn their heads in a mixture of curiosity and annoyance. “Make it quick, I only have a few days off a year and I don’t want to spend it on mindless ramblings” The hunter said wile he gets up off the poker table, leaving his cut of glimmer on it. Andrew smiled and chuckled as another sucker took the bait. “Well, do you know the drifter-“
“Get to the point.” The hunter said wile rudely interrupting. Andrews smug smile turns into a slightly disappointed frown. “Fine, the drifter has a hive god as a girlfriend” The bar went silent for a moment as they all turn their heads in disbelief. Some snickered wile others where shooting daggers from their eyes. “Your bullshitting” The hunter said as he sat back down at the poker table and picked back up his cards. “If you want to bet in it-“ “shut it” The hunter exclaimed as the river turns on the poker table. “Fine… ask him yourself when you have the chance.” Andrew went back to his now warm beer. Andrew thinks to himself for a minute but shakes the thought out of himself. “No, it’s not worth it”

I wanna see him sure up to s duel between Eris and Xivu, unload a full magazine of his hand cannon into Xivu, wink at Eris, and say "I told you, you can always trust me, three-eyes".
I think it would be the other way around. Drifter baits her and Eris wipes the floor with her.
Weird dietary choices aside, Drifter might actually be one of the most well adjusted people in the whole destiny universe.

I love these two, and I've been cheering on their budding relationship since Season of Arrivals. I hope that in whatever time they have left, they are happy.

Ole Drifter has grown on me . his development from a lone gun to a steadfast confident and partner to Eris when she needed it most.
I know Bungie's in-game cutscenes during Season of the Witch weren't all that great. But seeing Drifter walk away with that goofy-ass smile on his face after Eris leaves just feels so damn good.

I've always been drawn to Eris and her story even when I didn't play destiny, and seeing her find solace in the drifter is really heartwarming

I really love them so much and Drifter is such a supporting role to Eris, yet he isn't hiding in her shadow. They are equals, which makes it all the more sweeter
The Drifter is such an amazing character. Literally one of the oldest guardians and the only one with such a modified ghost, he has seen so much shit, he has been through so much torture, yet he continues to be such a beacon of hope for survival. He really does adapt quite fast to anything. He deserves the win
I honestly don't want to know how the Drifter reacts when Eris dies (either old age or killed) and him not since he stays immortal. He already disliked his Ghost very much, will he be able to kill it then?
Can ghostless guardian die of old age? This is a serious lore question.

I mean Eris does know Hive magic and if Savathun was able to find a way to resurrect herself without a Ghost, I wouldn't put it past Eris to find a similar way as well since she now has her own Ascendant Plane.
I love how all of this has been developing in the story so far. Eris and the Drifter are my two favorite characters bar none, some I'm happy they're getting this sort of development.
The Drifter and Eris' relationship is why Eris didn't become The Witch Queen in our reality.

What I love about their relationship is that it’s a storge relationship. Everyone loves a good romantic story but storge relationships open up avenues for more depths and complexity. Their partnership is not one driven by love in the romantic sense or intimate desires, but one of experiences, vulnerability, trust, and bravery. Their similar experiences, lead to shared ideas, which lead to cooperation, and eventually trust. Only one truly knows what it’s like to be the other. Even Ikora, her best friend, wasn’t able to be there fully 100% because of her duty to the Vanguard. Only Drifter came with no strings attached and vice versa.
You quite literally just described love. A relationship is based on intimacy and trust.

Eris and Drifter together throwing down against Xivu Arath is something I never knew I needed.
Some of the best dialogue in d2 is Eris and the Drifter in the Prophecy dungeon
I always love a good enemies to lovers trope, but this one is just all the sweeter. I can't imagine them falling for any other. The things that they've both gone through, only someone like the other could understand. Both originally unwilling to really be open like that. I hope they really make it through.
I have shipped it since Eris and Drifter started interacting and I am so happy to be validated.

It's interesting to see how Drifter has developed since his inception. I remeber the loyalty mission where Drifter was being pitted as a sort of force that went against the Vanguard, a sort of outlaw path. He did plant bombs if you went against him if I remember correctly. I like this version much better though.
Which is kind of the point. He went from a paranoid survivalist willing to do anything to survive to a shady yet loyal comrade with the desire to look towards a bright future. It is beautiful, really.
God these are my favorite two characters, they steal every scene they're in. I don't expect them to be main characters during the final shape but I'd love them to take major positions during the episodes. Eris is rightfully gonna be the head honcho when we fight xivu but I need some more Drifter time in my life. In anything but gambit that is.

When everything was going down with Eris I had recently watched a DBZ Abridged reaction episode with the parody of the Giant Woman song. I did one for Eris becoming a Hive god out of amusement since it was in my head.
I wish our character had more development and interactions with the others. Like even just a short bit of us doing some motion like an emote in particular like a hand on a shoulder or nod. Something that we can do to show these characters that we aren’t unfeeling psychopaths. That we do care for them. I know not everyone would but I know I would
In Destiny 1 your character talked a lot more and even if it was to your Ghost, your Guardian still showed some emotion in their lines.
The relationships in destiny are wild. Eris is basiclly a hive witch and contrary to some creep fan art they are very scary loooking but her soul matters most to him. Same for osiris and saint n many others in the lore that arent traditional humanoids

I really appreciate these lore videos, I stopped destiny for a while and started again in season of the deep, so it is nice to have a great source to go to catch up.
I had a thought... Take into consideration quite a few things.
1) Eris and Drifter have grown closer together. Much closer than in any other timeline Elsie has been through.
2) At one point, while there's a six Guardian event hitting Rhulk's Pyramid, Drifter tells his Ghost to watch over her, while he hunts food for them.
3) And his Ghost can access different spectrums of Light (literally can do things other Ghosts can, he's so modified).
4) Eris *used* to have access to the Light (she was an Arc Hunter before the Great Disaster).
5) And we know that Shin Malphur, the man with the Golden Gun, was raised as a baby by a Ghost who died protecting him as a toddler. And that he eventually met another Ghost who was able to re-grant him the Light.
6) In regards to #5, I'd assume the darkness has to do with that ability, seeing as that's what Shin did for the rest of his time, find Guardians worth utilizing the Dark without falling. That and the Ghosts of the Deep Lore with the Hive Necromancer "forcing" a Ghost to res Oryx.
7) Guardians can "share their Light with other Guardians (thats how the res-ing mechanic works in-game), ...even those who've lost their Light (see when Crow helped Eris fire off several Golden Guns into the air all night as a 'Thank you')!
8) And finally, our Guardian has access to Deepsight, and both the Drifter and Eris both have access to Darkness.
With all this info in mind, I have an idea.... What if the Drifter can use his heavily modded super-Ghost, to *permanently* gift her the Light once more!
'Imagine during the climax of a Season or even just a major moment in Final Shape; We're under attack, everyone's busy, Eris is in immense danger, and her Stasis is overtaking her, or she's gonna kamikaze to save everyone. Drifter's the only one near, but he's getting swarmed by Taken... So he lets go. After spending eons prioritizing his own life, he sends his Ghost to save Moondust instead of him... The Ghost does it, and in a burst of Arc Light, Eris flashes through and wipes the enemy force out (Guardians are overflowing with Light when 'Fresh Out the Grave.' See, Us. When ten.. fifteen minutes max into our first life we ended the House of Devils Archon). But she's still too late. Germaine has died.. and he chose Eris to survive.... But wait! His Ghost goes over the body! This is *his* Guardian! **HE** chose him! And finally, after centuries of trying to get this human to do the right thing, when he finally does... *he dies!?* No. No, not this one. ***This Ghost has more Light than most!*** And in a blazing burst of white, Drifter jerks upwards, tyaking a massive breath of air in! He looks around, pissed at his Ghost for not listening, but then sees Eris, wreathed in Arc energy and his Ghost in between them... tethering them! And he laughs.'
Ngl, except the super corny description of what is a moment that you've _clealry_ spent too much time thinking about, I'd agree with that ending, except for drifter dying. No need for that. He about to die, literally being overrun, then Eris comes guns ablazing with the new TFS super, whcih teleports her near him while also cleaning all the taken. Simple and effective, no need for big flashy and corny moves.

Thanks Byf! You're not affriad to bring up the true love story of Destiny. You don't shy away from it. You embrace it1 As far as my own predictions go, these two will be side by side come Hell or High Water. Final Shape averted, or Final Shape realized, these two will be found near each other at that critical moment. In either end, they will be there, and we will be fighting for their future. I can't wait to see it!
Honestly I love their story so much. It just feels...relatable? I guess is the word I'm looking for. Both are outcasts because of their own reasons and circumstances, and yet found someone whom they could trust and relate to.
That time eris talked to Crow and ended the whole conversation with, "Trust." I KNEW they were falling for each other
Eris is my favorite character in Destiny. Glad to see her relationship with the Drifter grow and develop to this point ❤
I love that Bungie has quietly progressed this story for a long time, letting it build in the "background" lore.
the lore book that seems to be tied to the wishkeeper catalysts at least pages 1-3 give us a look at taranis' birth, early days, initial meeting with riven, the way they made their clutch, and a brief look into what he and another of their kind were doing the day the great hunt had begun

The lore almost makes gambit sound fun.
Drifter's and Eris' relationship is such a beautiful thing. Firstly, we get to see it unfold over many seasons. There is so much growth between these characters. They've endured horrible, awful things that made them into who they are today, and you have to appreciate them allowing softer, kinder things happen to them. Both Eris and the Drifter have closed up like shells to shield themselves from trauma. I think they understand one another really well, and so they know how to read the boundaries and respect the past experience.
My heart skipped a bit when the Drifter reached out to touch Eris' arm.
I can't wait to see this relationship blossom as we go into TFS. Even amidst the darkest times, love takes root ❤

That chat between Eris and Drifter still has me dying with laughter, not that it was bad, I was locked in right until "OOUUU sounds like a wild ride". The OOUU wasnt needed at all but its great cause it makes it seem, to me anyway, that he wasnt listening and just snapped back. Similar to how Homer Simpson has the cymbal monkey or cartoon playing in his brain while Marge talks to him 😅😂
it is very sad that everyone beside the drifer have eris back the moment she turn to a hiva god and the drifter is so amazing for a while in the story from the past seasons i can't wait to see what the future hold for they both
