Glad you got a calm reaction out of the podcast homie, you're too chill for anyone to go ham on lol.
Another list to devour I thank you as always, can't wait for next week!!!
Not that many went ham but I did have one guy type a novel of a run on sentence on my Facebook page 😆
@@heavymetalphilosophy lol geez, passion comes in many ways I suppose
My friend, who isn't quite as into Metal, watched me watch one of your videos....
And was like: "Is Keanu Reeves about to form a Death Metal band??"
Gave me a chuckle :)
😆😆
New album by The Crown? HELL YEAH 🤘
Hell yeah! 🤘
Always speak your heart and mind, dude. If we can't talk to each other, we have nothing.
Thank you 🙏🤘
Great recommendations this week. Thank you for your service sir!
Much appreciated. Thank you for being here regularly. 🙏🤘
Killer Gorguts t-shirt. Some great picks this week - Chat Pile, Hell is Other People and Oranssi Pazuzu.
Thanks. I bought it from Luke himself, who was manning their merch booth. That night they were opening for Cannibal Corpse and Mayhem. Blood Incantation was the first act of the night. It was incredible. 😁🤘🤘
Thanks!!! You’re the best!!
You're the best! Thank you. 🙏🤘
Metal is bigger than politics, but we still have to talk about it.
Keep doing your thing brother, you are definitly doing a great job.
Thank you Sal! 💪🤘
It would be sweet it polotics didn't exist. But it does. And if democracy and freedom and justice are on the chopping block, then Metal must rise. 🤘🏻 Remember The Clansman by Iron Maiden. "FREEDOM!" Love it when they play that song live. The entire crowd screaming FREEDOM! You feel that power in your every cell. In your bones.
We'd love to see a livestream video anytime soon , keep up the great work! :)
Thank you. I'm always on the look out for some kind of event I can live stream like the Nik Nocturnal awards was fun or my 10k celebration. Those were fun. 😁🤘🤘
I've been thinking about starting a Metal UA-cam channel. I had an idea similar to this channel. You rock, Jon Barbas🤘🏻 Great minds listen to Metal.
Great minds! 🤘🤘
The album art for Hell is Other People is awesome.
💯
Indeed! Moirae is the Greek word for the Fates, the three sisters from Greek mythology. 🤘
The new Oranssi Pazuzu reminded me of early Nine Inch Nails when I first heard it. Not a bad reference to be inspired by though.
Not bad indeed! 🤘🤘
Nice Gorguts shirt🔥🔥, I actually just covered Le Toit Du Monde on instagram so great timing🤘
Thanks. I bought it from Luke himself, who was manning their merch booth. That night they were opening for Cannibal Corpse and Mayhem. Blood Incantation was the first act of the night. It was incredible. 😁🤘🤘
@@heavymetalphilosophy What was Luc like??
@@ramontamayo1305 Pretty cool. I didn't get to talk to him much because other people were in line behind me, but everyone that wanted a selfie with him he obliged.
Fucking love Graveripper and Restless Dreams!
Hell yes! 🤘🤘
Hell is Other people my favorite album art of the week.🤘
It is killer for sure! 🤘🤘
You're the man bro! Thanks for another great episode!
Thanks Joel! 🙏🤘
@@heavymetalphilosophy John, I am a subscriber and not from the USA, but from Poland! I love you and I strongly encourage you to be political. Metal is the music of brave, open and tolerant people. Metal itself is very political and plays a role today that pop or even mainstream rap cannot. Rap and pop stars are usually inclusive these days, but most often it's a conjuncture. Metal raises the problems of environmental destruction, religion, the fight against totalitarianism, philosophy, and refers to myths, traditions and cultural texts. Rock and metal - above all - have always been transgender, so I think that none of the viewers are afraid of feminist issues and those related to the sociology of gender. So talk openly about everything, because your viewers are quite intelligent and open. Apart from music, please talk more often about philosophy and books. It would be nice if you devoted some space to outstanding novels (including the recent Nobel Prize winner Han Kang or our Polish Olga Tokarczuk, who has philosophical and esoteric elements in her books). Viewers would also be interested in the issues of occultism and modernity, and how occultism influenced other areas of the humanities and social sciences and how it changed our thinking at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Be brave, don't be afraid.
Awesome video Aarruugghhhhh 😊
Thank you! Aaaarrrrghh! 🤘🤘
I love that you just put METAL!
Non of that subgenre bs.
Some of the biggest names in metal still don’t accept those subgenres names.
Thank you. I'm of two minds about subgenres. On the one hand I understand that bands don't want to be labeled and constrained. Bands like Anna Pest can be hard to classify. On the other hand, my job is to describe music with words. How do you describe a sound? There's nothing more efficient than a genre for that?
What does Sabaton sound like? They sound like power metal. What does 200 Stab Wounds sound like? Old school death metal etc.
And sometimes bands will say "We don't want to be labeled" and I listen and I'm like... Ok... but this is thrash metal. You may not want to label it but that's what this is.
Anyway at the end of the day it's all metal and I love it. 🤘🤘
[HEAVY COPING MODE ACTIVATED]
AWW Yeah! October 11! It is the new Opeth release date. I have waited for so long for this day! I have listened to the new album for 20+ times on Spotify already. What a great album. I am surprised that Mikael Åkerfeldt wrote a 70s ABBA-like disco song, singing passionately about dancing on a table, and he even mumble rap on one track. What a masterpiece..........
I'm very sorry to do this to you my long time friend, but they delayed the album a couple weeks 😩😩
Ohmahghird!!! It's Doedsmahghird!!!😂🤣 Sorry, just had to!!!
Hey, just an add on, Dusk from Costa Rica pair's well with Oranssi Pazuzu.
I had to as well 😆 I stole the meme album cover from Doomfrog 🤘🤘
I've been all about that Vomit Forth album as well. Straightforward but solid. Also, another album that came out that I can't get enough of is the new Touche Amore. I know, not metal but that band can do no wrong - and the lyrics are so introspective and personal. And yeah, that new Chat Pile is killer.
Another "not metal" one that I loved this week was from Leila Abdul Rauf. She's in Vastum (killer death metal band) but her solo record is quite unique.
So far, I have only had time to listen to the new albums by Ad Infinitum, Cemetery Skyline, The Crown, and Kozoria. I have liked all four, but my favorite is The Source by Kozoria (Crown of Thorns is a close second). It is the only album you didn't mention, so I encourage everyone to give it a try.
That's a good selection so far tho! 🤘🤘
Cool World is my AOTY and Vomit Forth's new record RIPS
They are indeed bangers! 🤘🤘
Vomit Forth kicked my ass to the point I got back up and asked "Please sir, can I have some more?"
Hell yes!! 🤘🤘
Can’t please everyone, go hug a puppy ❤️
Don't have a puppy but I got an elder best boy. On your advice I'm gonna go hug the big fella right now. 😁🤘🤘
HEY! BUDDY! CAN I PET YOUR DOG!!
Hug it to death
I would like to throw a couple of bands at you guys. I love both these bands, and I hope you've heard them, but if not, check em out.
1. Icon Of Sin
2. Fans Of The Dark
🤘🏻
Keep em coming! 🤘🤘
I'm sure you talked about this album before but the new 1349 I must have missed that episode.
Indeed. Killer stuff! 🤘🤘 That one released on the 4th and was on last weekend's episode. 😁🤘🤘
Hi Jon, I"m impressed by Restless Dream's EP, though i know nothing about his previous band & by the Silent Hill game...At times it did remind me of Denial of God, the Danish melodic BM band, but for the rest it seems to have its identity beyond the influences & works even without vocals, well done !
You'd probably dig Graveripper too then 😁🤘🤘
@@heavymetalphilosophy Checking it out now (I wonder if they chose on purpose the name to match with famous old band called Grave Digger & what's the relationship with them ?)
I confirm & also the proximity (speed & melodic Black/Thrash style) with Denial of God imho...👹✊
You are so awesome of a dude Barbas i think you can talk about anything and everyone will still love you bro 🤗.
Need to check that doedsmagird 🤘😁
Underground tip this weekend. Deathcore debute album by a band called Crucifiction 👌🔥
🤜🤛 Unbelievable that band name wasn't taken already!?
@@heavymetalphilosophy Hahahahaha 😁😂
Wish I had more vacation time to go checkout Sylosis on the 24th at the Masquerade 😢
Indeed! That would be cool to see. I'm about out of PTO as well. I do have Opeth on my calendar this month though 😁🤘🤘
Glad you get to go see Opeth 🤘
More fun stuff this week:
THE MIST FROM THE MOUNTAINS-Portal: The Gathering of storms
LAUDARE-Requiem
MASTER BOOT RECORD- Hardwarez
MEMBRANCE-Undead Remains
DEMON SACRIFICE -Under The Blacklight Of Divine
A CONSTANT KNOWLEDGE OF DEATH- Appendix 1: Revisions & Annotations
KLAITON-Behind The Ritual
ANA ARGAN LIST -Irrbloss
ANDY GILLION-Exilium
I really dug the Master Boot Record album. It's the same guy from Keygen Church. The decision to put real guitars on this one made it 🤘🤘
@@heavymetalphilosophythat last KEYGEN CHURCH record kinda smokes
@@CraigMader Indeed! 🤘🤘
The Mist And The Mountains was good too
Indeed! 🤘🤘
Oranssi Pazuzu?
Yes. 😁🤘🤘
The political discourse was quite raging,,,
Next podcast we take on RELIGION! lol... :D
Isn't it interesting that I've talked about Christianity a lot here and yet the basis of their entire view of reality doesn't get people as emotional as mentioning the name of Kyle Rittenhouse? I didn't even say if I thought he was guilty or not. I just made the factual point that he's a controversial figure and people got mad at reality.
when you talk about albums are referring to actual LP vinyl, and are these bands actually making vinyl still ? Forgive me in advance I am 1st gen metal head.
Not in particular. Just because of the sheer volume of albums I have to listen to every week I stream them. But I'm happy to report that there is a physical media resurgence happening right now in all music, but metal in particular is really enjoying it. Not only are most of these bands pressing vinyl, they're even making cassettes again! 🤘🤘
@@heavymetalphilosophy interesting i still have my old school turntable and amp ! Thanks for the reply🤘
Bivol vs Beterbiev who you got? #undisputed
For me this is a pick em. Two pound for pound guys. I could see Bivol winning a technical but close split decision. And I could also see Beterbiev getting a KO. Definitely won't be betting any money on this fight 😆

@@heavymetalphilosophy You're Welcome:) I'm pleased.
Hey, Jon! Couple things:
-Thanks for RESTLESS DREAMS, missed it, Bandcamp only right now. Thats the 2nd HELLRIPPER release this year. Forces must be gathering for an album. Warlocks Grim...is the best blakthrash record ever made. No pressure.
-Re: the global oppressed metal vid, I was thinking, I know of only two Chinese bands, both outstanding. RIPPED TO SHREDS and HOPLITES both work with Chinese folklore, a subject the Chinese government does not find threatening. Knowing the CCCP's history of harassing Chinese foreign nationals in other countries, I wonder if this oppressive reality is a part of their creative choices. They will threaten to imprison/torture/kill your family members back home, and are known to kidnap their own in foreign countries and drag them back to "justice". Powerful motivators to avoid political speech. I didnt realise AL NAMROOD operated incognito because of this stuff. I've been a fan for a couple years, now my fandom is truly galvanized. Thanks for all you do, sir.
Graveripper 😉. I agree with you tho. The Hellripper albums are standard bearers for the genre and if you like those you'll dig Graveripper too.
I didn't know Ripped to Shreds (same guy from Houkai Grind Time) were Chinese nationals. I guess I just assumed he was like me, an American guy with Asian blood. Good point though.
@@heavymetalphilosophyHa,ha! Graveripper... Bootchies got me slippin.
Dang! Why you gotta Disconnecticut?
Your top 5 is always a weekend highlight thank you,
Sad what’s happened to CT. I won’t get political about it 😂
😆
Just joking. It's all love. Connecticut has amazing pizza and a lovely highway connecting states I actually want to go to. 😉😆
Space X launch successfully sonic boom nothing to do here just messing haaa Aarruugghhhhh
