    my tpi only runs well when i adjust idle screw to 0.67 else it is going to stall. the air screw is about 3 turns out. what could be the issue? thanks

    I put my kx125 together and I didn’t tap the bearings like this, when I tighten the bolts down to spec the crank dose move but it’s tight should I worry about tapping the bearings like that or should I see what my mechanic recommends?

    • @ChuckfromTrueTech

      As long as the crank spins freely. There should be no drag from the bearings.

    Hi! 😀 i have a 2021 tm 125 smr Fi. Im planning on doing a piston change on the bike, but I’m wondering if there is anything to know about the change. Like do I have to reflash the ecu or something. Or is it just like a normal 2 stroke engine? Just put the new piston in end thats all?

    Thanks for sharing your wisdom here, not much content on all three main elements of the slide carb. I tried my best to explain it in a video however there's nothing like having someone with years of experience across different equipment to boil it down. Carbs are effective and proven devices, I think there is just an education and elbow grease problem where folks give up too easy.

  • @limjahey4351
    @limjahey4351 3 дні тому

    Ok, I have a 2012 crf450x, PC pipe, air box mod, gauze gone, pink wire mod, valves spot on, JD jetting kit, every seal and O ring replaced in the carby including mid body, no O ring mod, savage flat spot where it's dangerous to ride. I've changed the pilot down till the idle hangs with flat spot still there, I've changed it up till it's spewing fuel flat spot still there. New spark plug the whole deal, changed the needle position, cannot get rid of it. I'm about to start playing with the leak jet, it has a 60, I have a 55 I'll change it to to richen the ap, but I'll take any help at this point I can get, I'm thinking of putting the O ring mod on just to see if it helps

    • @ChuckfromTrueTech
      @ChuckfromTrueTech 3 дні тому

      First check the AP timing and then leak jet.

      @ChuckfromTrueTech thanks for the reply and merry Christmas. The adjustment screw for the rod was all the way out so I did it up until the slack was gone pushing the rod as soon as throttle is touched. Made no difference. I have a 55 leak jet I'll fit today, is fit with a 60. Waiting on a JD jetting leak jet kit but will report back after testing. Thanks again.

    2023 ktm 300xcw. Manual says 91 no ethanol.... dealer said use gas with ethanol. He said the no ethanol sits in the tanks too long, and it ruins the fuel pump.... what gas should you use??????

    • @ChuckfromTrueTech
      @ChuckfromTrueTech 3 дні тому

      Non ethanol fuel is much higher quality for a variety of reasons. One of the most important reasons is that it lasts much longer. In some areas non ethanol fuel might sell slower but in general I would still buy it whenever possible.

    That was a great, informative video. Thank you. Ме thinks this video is also great at showing why I will try to stick with injection bikes. there is magic in keeping carbs well tuned (imagine an old V12 lambo/ferrari with carbs), but I kinda want to ride as much as possible without problems at all temps/altitudes.

  • @buzzbombkirk
    @buzzbombkirk 3 дні тому

    This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. It's called primary compression, it's what puts the fuel/air mixture into the cylinder. You're gonna have a whole hell of a lot less of that now. It'll never run right no matter how many different jets and mains you throw at it. Absolutely ridiculous and I hope no one ever repeats this shit. There are other ways to protect against seizing a two stroke. I've built easily 800 2T engines and this is just absolute shit.

    what does changing the power jet from 50 to 40 do ? does it make it a more chill cruise able bike?

    • @ChuckfromTrueTech
      @ChuckfromTrueTech 4 дні тому

      No. It leans out the portion where the power jet is activated. It varies by year but generally cleans up the mid range.

    I would like to add the needle is also responsible from idle onwards not only 1/4 throttle onwards, straight diameter is a crucial part of perfect jetting

    I never thought about listening to how the bike goes back to idle as an indicator of rich/lean on other circuits. I had an issue with my YZ250 hang idling after hardish pulls (I'm a B Vet XC rider). I kept playing with the pilot and air screw. With the knowledge you just dropped on me I now know I should have adjusted the needle. It was probably lean.

    It may be obvious but some people start to mess with the jetting without a clean carb especially in the four strokes fcr mid body

  • @robmiller1514
    @robmiller1514 5 днів тому

    When jetting, I usually have marks on the throttle housing indicating 0, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full positions, and a pointer marked on the twist grip. This helps me to pinpoint the exact spot where there may be a rich or lean condition.
