I got the line to work but when I put the text on, it doesn't do what yours does. I'm about to give up. I see that you haven't provided video instruction for a couple of years. Did you stop using Shotcut?

I just downloaded the latest version of Shotcut (24.01.28), and the typewriter effect still doesn't seem to have been added to Text: Rich (or at least I couldn't find it). So, it seems your tutorial is still relevant almost three years later!

Very fascinating... I probably just would have used OBS or something to record myself writing in Gimp on a green background, and use this recording in shotcut with a chroma key. That would only give you an appropriate result if you're good at calligraphy, so your approach is much more feasible. I wonder though if there is a way to automate applying the gradient to the text though, so that the gradient follows the lines...

Thanks for this! I have a bunch of holiday video that's short clips (30s to 2m) that I want join together in an attractive way, with transitions and caption text for the clip. This kind of simple, easy to follow tutorial is pitched perfectly to get me well on the way to doing that. 🙏🏻

I've created 1sec custom transitions and once I set it up as 1sec transition on slideshow it turned out to be too short. Do you have any idea why shotcut works like that?

this does not work. tried adding text layer but when it comes to drag, it says cannot drag from Project. tried everything & other videos. can't find solution

I've found this video just last night (March 22nd). So, I got a bunch of transition files from Magix Video 2.0 Deluxe, which hasn't been used for over a decade. I got that around 2005, I guess. According to the file dates, it goes back to 2002 (when Windows Me and 2000 were new). It would be too quirky to work on Windows 11. These transition files are actually avi files. I've applied them in Shotcut (running Linux) using "Mask From File" and all that (as you've shown in the video). They worked! I now have a bunch of more transition effects for Shotcut!

This no longer works on version 22.12.21 I can't figure this out, it can't be dragged to apply a fade in.

I am trying to use the same font , color, and size throughout my videos .However, the text size always changes depending on the number of characters in the text, regardless of specifying font size . Any advice?

Does Shotcut have built-in shapes so I could just add ones instead of downloading them?

I don't have a color/transparency clip Edit: Nvm I found it, it's called "wipe" now and you can add it by pressing the bottom corners of your clip
