Can I ask about your furniture price behind you? I love that it has the black and the woods Lived seeing all your projects from the last year.
It's the Hemnes cabinet from IKEA! www.ikea.com/us/en/p/hemnes-glass-door-cabinet-with-3-drawers-black-brown-light-brown-50452297/
Lots of inspiration ❤❤❤❤❤ love them all!
Thank you, Kaci!! Always inspired by you 🥰
Fun roundup! Thank you for sharing. You’re so prolific! I’ve just started my first project using Candide. Last night, I joined the second ball and was absolutely delighted to discover you can spit splice it! It reminds me of Dawn by A Verb For Keeping Warm, except that is worsted weight.
So glad you love Candide!! Maybe I need to try Dawn 👀
Starts at 10:00
How do you feel Ulysse towards the skin ? Wonderful knits you’ve done 🤗
I almost never have issues with yarn on my skin so I might not be the best source - but it doesn't bother me at all!
Watched the whole episode. Learned, saved patterns. Thank you.
i was having so much trouble finding some worsted wool/cotton blend Emily, and you just tempted me with the Robinson! and I just ordered some!🙈 Thanks for the feedback on the yarn! also very lovely knits you've got there for your 2024 💛
Yay!!! I hope you love it!
On that Seaway pullover - for that kind of collar you can go down a needle size every couple of rows to graduate it in more. You can also use clear knit in elastic for the whole collar or last few rows. Either of those techniques or both of them together would fix that issue as would knitting it double long and folding it in to sew down (perhaps either some elastic on the inside)
Great ideas - thank you!
Emily love your handspun yarn so much! Also such a fun idea to sort all your sock yarn for the year. I want to knit more socks in 2025 and I love this idea. You have inspired me to go through my stash. Really enjoyed watching while knitting on a pair of socks. Happy Holidays 😊
Yay!! Good luck with the sock knitting! I'm hoping planning it out at the beginning of the year will keep me excited and also help me buy less sock yarn 😅
I love the colours on the Carols in the snow colour way 😍 your socks are going to be so cute. Your Alvar sweater looks gorgeous! Wow for using your hand spun yarn ✨
Love the yarn!!! What top are you wearing at the end of the video? Obsessed
That's the Vellichor by Andrea Mowry!
The sweater you are wearing is so cozy, I love it!
Lol here's something funny. You're saying the recovery chart says you should be able to open your mouth at least 3 fingers large but I can't even do that normally. Sooo I knew I couldn't open my mouth very wide but that just confirms it. Gettings= my teeth cleaned at the dentist or getting a filling is a torture because my jaw hurts so so so much. They say open wider. Well guess what? I can't. I hope I never have to get my wisdom teeth removed LOL. I'm glag it went well for you though!!!
Oh gosh that sounds tough!! I can normally open around 4 fingers, but for a few weeks I could only open 2 fingers and that was pretty tricky!
@@emweecurt FOUR? I think I have a problem 😂But I dunno, I can eat a sandwich so at least there's that 😆
using handspun for a sweater is next level!!! you go!! i thought that was commercial omg so consistent! that stitch definition!!
What a compliment! Thank you so much!
The Cables in your first finished sweater look soooo goood! They almost look like little bows, I love!
Oooh you're so right, they do! Thank you!
your seaway looks so good! i really want to make one now, I was wondering how close to the yarn recommendation did you use? I have the perfect yarn but its discontinued and just a touch less than the recommended
I knit exactly to pattern, one extra half repeat on the sleeves, and I had about half a skein of yarn left? But I think I was tight on yardage to begin with so you might be okay!
Hello from nearby in Snoqualmie 👋 I love the idea of a year of socks! Adding this to my 2025 knitting goals! Can’t wait to see what patterns you choose
Hello and I haven't stopped smiling since it began. It is wonderful knowing you belong to the best friend group of knitters on that side of the U.S.A. I respect the whole group's knitting, and spinning prowess. "I made this, so fun, I'm so proud of myself, and I'm not feeling it has me laughing outloud. It brings me great memories of years gone by when I was your age and accomplished something that would last for years. I really smiled or I should say my heart smiled when you complimented Are and the smile that came across your face. It was genuine because the smile came automatically from you. I think she is myself and I don't have the pleasure of personally knowing Arie. Wish I could knit with all of you. I'm a new by knitter, but not afraid of doing anything not even in life and I'm 73 years young on December 23rd. There's no reason to be. I wish you the best that life can give. I enjoy your podcasts just as much as I enjoy Katie's and my girl Meghan's. Please give them my regards, as I comment each time I see their podcast. All of you have a charming authentic wonderful quirky personality that fits just as I have. If you ever come to this side of the USA, Maryland, get in touch for a knit night, knit afternoon etc. It would be a blessing! Ms. Jo
What an incredibly kind and thoughtful message, thank you so much for sharing. I am also a huge Meghan and Ariel fan!
Have you looked at the Berlin scarf? I’m knitting it now for my daughter. Very simple double knit scarf. I am using some yarn she bought me back from Peru. It’s a great travel knit. I’m going to knit another in drops air black. Enjoy your holiday. Glad to see you are back podcasting. 🎄
Who names a colourway 'bloodshot'
Bloody Mary is who. Lol
Emily, just started the video and want to say that your sweater is stunning!
Thank you so much, Blair!!
I was going to comment "off topic but I love your nail shade!" but apparently that is on topic! What shade is that? Sorry if you mentioned previously!
It's Essie - don't hate, curate!
I think a sweet shop blanket looks like so much fun! I’ve been thinking about making one too, but it’s not a priority right now. On your traveler, I think it would be so cute to do the drawstring and cuff/hem ribbing in just the colorful bits!
I hope that you wisdom surgery went as smoothly as possible and you’re well on the road to recovery by the time that you read this. It sounds like you have so many exciting plans between now and the end of the year Leavenworth sounds like a beautiful place to visit and particularly magical at this time of year.
I’m 39 and one of my wisdom teeth just finally decided to come out and immediately got a cavity! So I am going to get them all out in January. I’ve never been put under so please let me know if your removal goes smoothly so I can stop stressing out!
The recovery was a little trickier than I expected, but overall it went really well and I'm completely back to normal now! I hope it goes well for you!
This is the perfect time of year to get your wisdom teeth out! Soup season!!
I never got wisdom teeth, however, both my sons did. Neither of them had any problems. My younger son got his out the day before thanksgiving when he was a teenager. We decided to postpone the “feast” so he could enjoy all the goodies. We postponed it two days! That Saturday he was eating solid foods without any difficulties. Good luck
I JUST Cast on my long sleeve color tip tee hoping I have enough yarn for the sleeves because I can't not play yarn chicken
You should get a sock ruler! I was having the same trouble (luckily my boyfriend can wear the too long ones and my mom can wear the too short ones), now as long as I use the sock ruler the socks I try to make for myself actually fit my feet 😎
This is a great idea!
I had a good experience with my wisdom teeth, just don't jump into hard foods too early! Mashed potatoes will be your best friend 😂 I did grow a 5th wisdom tooth that I had to have removed in college. Love Leavenworth! I lived in Everett for 4 years and did a bunch of white water rafting on the Wenatchee River. I highly recommend The Stein for lunch and a drink. Have a great time!
I just finished a doppio as well! Mine grew *so* much in length that my gauge shrunk. I might go back and make adjustments to the body, but I’m very happy with my sleeve adjustments to make them roomier (same as you and Maya!). I’m planning my second one already. I had my wisdom teeth removed very early (opposite problem, I was an early bird for all my teeth!). I was 13-14, and had them all removed at once. I was so excited to eat ice cream and drink smoothies for a week, that I planned out different flavour combos I wanted to try for both. It gave me something to look forward to! I hope all goes well 🤗
Loving your Tesselated colors
I had two separate surgeries at 16 to get my wisdom teeth out and both went fine. There was a tiny problem with one but the doctor resolved it quickly and painlessly. Like, I wouldn't do it again for fun, but it was very much a non-event. I don't know Essie colors, but there's a whole wide world of indie polishes that I love. Favorites include KBShimmer, Cuticula, and Polished For Days. There's a monthly thing called Polish Pick-up that lets you preorder from a bunch of brands if you want to get a bunch of different stuff in one shipment.
Also! I think there's large crossover between knitters and nail polish people because they both let you play with colors and textures
I literally almost adopted a dog after I got my wisdom teeth out because I loved it so dearly, but other than that it was a breeze! Apple sauce was life saving though!
I ate so much applesauce!
My husband still has his wisdom teeth at 29. It's been about 10 years since I had mine out, but I had all 4 done at once and remember recovery being pretty smooth. I feel like I was eating pretty normal food after about 2 or 3 days, albeit gently. I ate mac and cheese on day 1. I would definitely recommend taking some kind of painkiller before the anesthesia wears off fully
Dental hygienist here! Just want to say: listen to all of the after care instructions and follow them to a T and you should be totally fine! :) Your surgeon does this all day every day and will do a great job!!
I had no issues getting my wisdom teeth out! Went to sleep. Woke up and hugged all the nurses and said I loved them. Was a bit swollen after but was surprisingly smooth. I just went to Leavenworth for Octoberfest. Wish I’d waited till holiday time.
I’m 38 now but I got my wisdom teeth taken out a couple of years ago and I still have two baby molars, lol. I too am a late bloomer. Luckily, I had no problems with my wisdom teeth ever and getting them all removed at once was a total breeze! The experience was made easier by telling myself to relax and I got to watch shows on Netflix while the oral surgeon did their thing. It took me 3 days for the tenderness/soreness to subside and by a week out, I was feeling fine. All in all, a 10 out 10 experience. Also, your hand spun is gorgeous! I’m inspired to practice my spinning more. Nail polish tips are always appreciated! :)
For your wisdom teeth: even if you feel fine the first day try to talk/move your jaw as little as possible! I felt great when I got home and talked so much I ended up in intense jaw pain for the next 4-5 days😬
So glad you got a wonderful self-care weekend with friends after the horrible week here in the US. Thank you for sharing the nail polish tips. Good luck with your wisdom teeth! I got mine out in my early 20s and it was fine! I was braced for it to be awful but it turned out to be no big deal at all. You’re gonna make it though!
I used to be an Essie girl. When I got back in the habit years later I became a Mooncat girl. IDK why I tend to stick with one brand, probably because I like when all the bottles are the same. For quick dry top coat I like INM out the door. I have a large refill bottle of the plain, and then regular sized bottles of their northern lights gold and silver, which have some gold or silver holo glitter. I don't recall much issue with getting my wisdom teeth out. I do recall that I used to bring chicken star noodle sipping soups to school for lunch while I was healing and I would have to clean the little stars out of my divots after. Actually, I think I had to clean food out of the divots for a long time.
So so glad the nail polish comments helped!! your nails look lovely! :) I really like the duochromes that Essie has -- one that I keep going back to is a purple/blue/gray blend. And good luck with your wisdom teeth! I got my first 3 wisdom teeth out in early college, which went fine, but they didn't take the last one out until this past year and it started coming in, and I'm in my very late twenties. It all went well! It was the quickest procedure -- in and out in 20 minutes, and the healing went all right as well. Fingers crossed for you it goes the same!
I love all your projects! I am knitting on the traveller with handspun right now. Mine is pretty inconsistent but it works itself out. Don't worry about it too much! The structure really helps even things out :) And I really like the combo spin idea for the traveller shawl.
I love that sweater! Looks so comfortable. Do you also knit angora rabbit hair sweaters? Great video!
a couple warnings/what NOT to do with wisdom tooth removal: do NOT take the pain meds on an empty stomach don’t expect you’ll be able to use a normal spoon (to eat apple sauce or spoon a smoothie) - maybe a baby spoon would work lol popsicles would be good if you can be sure you don’t do any sort of sucking motions! try to stay ahead of your pain med schedule, you def don’t want to get behind but in my experience the pain was 1000% manageable with just OTC tylenol/ibuprofen. best of luck!!
I've been working on a Sweetshop Blanket for about a year now! It sits beside my bed in a cute basket and I work on it before bed if I feel like it. I fully accept that it's going to take me like 2 more years to finish but I'm okay with that! I think it's a great way to deal with the blanket-induced anxiety of such a huge project! I highly recommend you try it!!
Okay yes this is very tempting I'm thinking I might have to go for it!!
It's called bloodshot because when you don't get a lot of sleep and your eyes are a little red. It's not gross.
I know about bloodshot eyes!! I just think it isn't the most pleasing thing to name a yarn colorway after 😅
@ I’m a horror girlie 💅 I’m unphased! I think the colorway names are so clever. Especially Nightshades’ I like the feelings that 12:57 evokes. 8:26 is a good counterpart with different vibes. Also big on VCR and Static.
I made both the Land of Sweets blanket and the Northeasterly. I love both of them but I made the Northeasterly in strips then crocheted them together so it was a super portable project.
I got mine out when I was 18. I was put under anesthesia and had the easiest healing process. I was barely swollen the first two days and then had some swelling the third day. Very minimal pain that ibuprofen took care of! I slept slightly elevated which helped and ate lots of mashed potatoes and applesauce and yogurt! I could manage Mac n cheese and just took very small bites with my front teeth. I’d say best advice is just follow the rules your doctor gives you and rest
I had mine pulled when I was like 19 or 20 I think. I had 1 impacted and 2 easy pulls. I was told impacted ones typically have a 1 week recovery time of not eating solid food. So I stocked up on liquid food that was high protein so I didn't loose weight. I had my follow up 4 days after surgery because I was going out of town. He said I could go back to solid foods and I probably could have after 2 days. I bought a bag of chips on my way home from my appointment!
