Your plans sound so fun, you'll have amazing experiences! I don't remember if you did not like spindles when you started spinning? Especially turkish spindles are super portable and great for traveling 🙂
I just got back from a trip in Belfast! Not sure where you will be in Ireland, but Folklore Yarn and Coffee and Hanks Yarn Parlour were both great shops! They had great selections and stocked some nice locally dyed and/our spun yarn :)
When you come to NM, if you go to White Sands, let me know. I’ll have suggestions of good places to go. It’s so unique. Glad you have this opportunity to live your best life.
Are you planning on driving in NZ and Australia, how do you feel about driving on the opposite side of the road. Hooker Valley Track and the Milford Sounds are both really nice places in the South Island
This is very exciting news to hear about all your travels. My friend Eva that organises the Scottish Festival of Yarn, which I help at, is going to have a stand at Wool and Folk. You should definitely pay her a visit when you’re there. We have the Scottish Wool Producers Showcase in late March so maybe you’ll be in Scotland then. It is the most amazing small festival where all the yarn and products have a Scottish provenance. Scotland has such a long history of knitting traditions amongst all the other history and beautiful landscape you’ll love it here.
Omg you're going to have the best time, how exciting! I'm Australian, and technically most of our flights don't allow knitting needles. But I've flown with them often. The way I do it is to have the project on interchangeables and take the needle tips off and put them into a pencil case mixed in with pens & pencils. And I've never had an issue at security doing it that way. I also figure at least then if there are issues no one will try and take my project, they might just take the tips. So I typically make a back up plan to be able to purchase the tips again wherever I'm landing, just in case. I assume you'll be flying in to Sydney, so worst case scenario you could head to skein sisters to get more tips if you needed to (they carry chiaogoo). Can't wait to see all your adventures unfold!
Oooooh also, for your NZ trip - If you're at all interested in renting and sleeping in a van for it, I'd definitely encourage you to. Great cost saving measure since you generally need to hire a car for NZ anyway. And they have fantastic availability of places to park and stay overnight, generally outside of major cities there will be heaps of free spots that feel very safe and have lots of other nice people there (it's very common to travel NZ this way and even the locals seem to do caravan trips heaps) The south island is incredibly stunning (the north too, but the south island really has my heart), and you'll be coming at a great time of year to enjoy the national parks and beautiful blue water.
This must be your calming mantra right now. “I’m just doing my best, and that’s ok.”
Safe travels, have loads of fun. I am excited for you both😊
I hope you have the most exciting travels! I'm also very excited about your Calm Down Cardi, and in such a beautiful blue!!
Have so much fun! See you when you come back to Bainbridge 😉
Yay! See you at rhinebeck ❤❤❤❤

I tried a drop spindle and didn't love it - but maybe worth a shot with some other types!
You should definitely try Peles Castle in Romania, I love it! Safe travels x
We went there and it was amazing!!
Enjoy your travels!! Looking forward to your check-ins when you have time!
Happy trails to you & Nafis😊! Looking forward to getting updates and a podcast when you can!

Oh my gosh this sounds amazing! I will definitely come by at Wool & Folk. We're thinking March or April for Scotland so this may sway us to March 👀

I found this same tip online last year and have been using it since! Good to know the pens/pencils trick has worked for you too!
