I haven't noticed the daylights yarn being scratchy at all and actually find it quite soft and squishy! But I am not sensitive to wool at all and and it does have a wooly feel so I'm not sure how it'd work for your spouse!

My biggest suggestion is to put thinly sliced apple on sandwiches!! I love a grilled cheese with apple slices in it.
