CAD Roll Hunter
Canada
Приєднався 15 лип 2021
Hey, folks! I'm James and this is my channel, CAD Roll Hunter. I post videos on Coin Roll Hunting (searching rolls of coins from the bank to see if I can find rare or valuable coins), coin collecting, coin/collection purchases! I'm always learning, and I love sharing what I learn on my channel!
INCREDIBLE deal on Canadian SILVER coins! (Plus some FREEBIES!!)
I love picking up some old Canadian silver. Referred to as Junk Silver or Scrap Silver, these are silver coins that are sold strictly on the merit of their silver content only, and not by any numismatic value. With a keen eye and a bit of knowledge, you might find a gem in the junk bin. In this purchase, my antique dealer threw in a bunch of other coins he thought I'd like. He was right! Let's check it out!

Wow! A bunch of OLD American Coins found Coin Roll Hunting Pennies in Canada!
Переглядів 1,6 тис.16 годин тому
This one's a bit different... It's really common to find US pennies in the pennies I get from the banks. Occasionally, I'll come across a full roll of US pennies. I've been setting those aside until I had enough to do a hunt of just US pennies. Today's the day! And this hunt doesn't disappoint at all!! We find some oldies and some goodies! Don't be confused by the size of the box... BIG treasure can lurk in small places - especially when we're talking about coins! My friend, Tim, who's an antique dealer and estate buyer, came across this little box of coins and asked for my help to try and figure out what he has. Sounds like fun to me!! Close but. The coin. In inside the drum and slaps either the baffle or is inside the baffle. Most dryers do not have an outer drum. The smoothness is from friction of either cloths rubbing it or hitting flat inside the baffle. Again they do NOT get caught between and inner and outer drum and ride on its edge but get slapped on bang inside the dryer till it bears the ridge in. Google spooning a coin into a ring. You’ll get it.

@ 3:42 easiest and best way to remove glue on coin let it soak in boiling water
That probably works, too! And won't damage the coin. Thanks for the suggestion!
New subbie here, I'm a newbie learning about our beautiful currency. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks so much for watching and subscribing - I appreciate it!
Imagine getting a roll that looked like that from a bank in the US. Looks like all but 2 are silver lol. I suppose newer CAN quarters don't have a copper line like ours, but am still green & learning
Absolutely! Getting a Canadian coin in a US roll has excited and fooled a lot of coin roll hunters!! Thanks so much for watching!
I small bust i have but its 1980s
I've been looking for a counterfeit twoonie just to have one but I think your getting them all.😊
Lol, don't worry. I'm sure they will make their way to you sooner or later! I certainly don't need any more!!
Super video, love seeing the King George V NIckels. Too bad there wasn't a 1921 in the silver, that would be a rare find
Well, that would be crazy!!
Could’ve been from me😂. I get all my coins mixed up after travelling and I go to Malaysia once or twice a year. I think I have some EU, Euros, some others in my purse right now. I am so disorganized 😅 There’s no cure.
Hey, you never know! It's always fun finding foreign coins, and wondering how they found their way to me!
the only colorized quarter I have in my personal collection is that 2004 Poppy which is awesome. these newer ones are super striking.!!!! also that 1969 Bahamas Quarter is awesome too, i just got a 1971 Bahamas Prooflike Dollar with the Conch, it's 80% Silver.!
I do love the colourized ones - I wonder when the US mint will do something like that for circulation...
@@CADRollHunter i agree, the US Mint is slacking.!!!! I'd love to see at least a colorized Kennedy Half Dollar or something for the 2026 coin series. Interestingly, another thing we don't do is giant silver versions of our coins with W Mint Marks: i just got that 2022 Silver Specimen Penny today i found one online and I'm about to pick up that dime.!!!
@@evangouldtransit Those are beautiful coins, for sure! Enjoy those ones!
i can confirm, that dime is indeed a 1960. Great find, dude!
Thanks for weighing in - it is indeed a 1960 after closer examination!
Nice purchase. Thanks for sharing
Thanks, Tom!
Acetone breaks down the glue on coins like your large cent, takes time be patient. Also I never tried it on copper coins I would test on a coin you don't care about.
I've done a couple videos where we use Acetone to remove tape/glue residue and it's worked really well. This coin would definitely be a good candidate!
@@CADRollHunter Home Depot has a product goo gone that really breaks down glues I don't know how it would react with metals. I used it to remove glue residue from peal and stick floor tiles
Sweet pickups, love the 50 cent pieces, I stack those as well. Cheers,
Thanks, Pierre! I love these coins in particular. I think it's because when I was a kid, because they didn't circulate, they were 'special.'

Very interesting seeing coins from North of the border! Awesome finds
Thanks so much for watching!!
Love the large cents! Great vid once again :)
I'm glad you enjoyed the video - thanks for watching!!

Thanks so much for watching! Always appreciated!
@ welcome
I'm surprised you have a good rapport with a junk dealer and can get coins a reasonable cost. Most of the junk dealers I'm familiar with try to sell coins for outrageous sums of money.
It's probably more because he's an antique dealer, and isn't so interested in coins. And he probably buys them for much less than I'm paying...
is 17x face value a tremedous deal? or am I just getting screwed by my LCS lmao? I feel like the cheapest in my area is more like 25x face value.
17x face is a tremendous deal. A few months back I was paying 15x face. My local lcs would probably charege 25x or more, for sure.
I am with you on the 50 cent pieces, they are my favourite also..
Thanks! I was pretty sure I wasn't alone on that design!
Great score James!
Thanks! Lots of fun!

James congratulations for hitting 10k

@@CADRollHunterhi I have a quick question . I have a box of machine wrapped Canadian dimes and quarters. Is there any chance of finding silver or does the mint take them out?
@@CoinChaser1 The Mint has an Alloy Recovery Program (ARP) that is actively removing copper, nickel, and silver from older Canadian coins. Coins that pass through the distribution centre are all screened and these older coins will be removed, just leaving the modern multi-ply plated steel nickels, dimes, and quarters. Boxes that have passed through this system will contain machine-wrapped rolls, and will be stamped (e.g., Nov 29, 2024 Brinks ARP). In those boxes you won't likely find anything older than the year 2000. Not all machine wrapped rolls are ARP, though. Some businesses that accept a lot of coins wrap their own coins (e.g., transit systems, car washes, etc.), and anything goes. In my area I tend to avoid machine wrapped rolls as they are almost always ARP. Having said all that - even if it is ARP, you'll likely still find lots of colourized and commemorative quarters. In the dimes, you might find a colourized dime. So, I'd still open them up - you never know what might still be in them.
@@CADRollHunter thank you this really helped me. So should I keep all colourized coins? Are they worth more? Also are the nickel and copper coins worth more?
Congrats for reaching 10,000 subscribers
Thanks so much - I really appreciate it. Thanks for watching!
Omg 10k that’s crazy
I know, right?!
@ Fr
Thanks for sharing. I loved seeing those old Queen Victoria coppers.
Same here - a little bit of history in each of those!
That's a lot of silver
You've gotta love a bunch of silver!!
It's amazing how many countries have her portrait on them.
And it's a bit surprising for me every time I find one with the exact portrait we've used in Canada - even after all these years collecting!
Happy Thanksgiving! I always loved it when there's silver or even an old Victorian era coinage. Like you, I also loved the early version of the reverse for the 50-cent piece designed by George Kruger Grey. It's often impressive that all of the reverse designs made by him are the most recognized ones in all of the coinage in across the British Empire.
Those designs are iconic, for sure!!
@@CADRollHunter for real, man. KG would be happy to see his designs go on even to this day in Canadian coinage as well.
US fan here, I got a 1958 Canadian Silver Dime.
Very nice - did you find that coin roll hunting? Finding foreign silver is always a rush. Thanks for watching!
@ No, I actually found it in a pile of change my uncle kept for years.
@@stonethemanwho Either way, that's a great find!
I have many quarters and pennies from Canada and USA from 1940 and up, bicentennial coins, im wonder what the value is.
What do you do with the "nickel" nickels?
Nickels made from 1922-1981 are 100% nickel. Those made from 82-00 were 75% Copper, 25% Nickel. And from 2000 onwards, they've been Steel (there've been a few exceptions over the years, of course). But nickel is a more valuable metal, so I hold onto those.
Great head gear, James. I might just try it.
It's great when you need two hands to clutch your hoard of pennies!
😂
Nice hunt and so many Great finds!
Thanks so much!
do coins of George VI show up sometimes in circulation still? i recently bought a 1951 Canadian penny with him on it
You're likely to find them if you come across lots of pennies, and the occasional nickel might still circulate. You're hard-pressed to find them in dimes or quarters just because they're silver.
Beans
Cool beans!
if you go to the usa, will you use any of the usa coins to buy something or trade them for higher denominaciones? (I am referring to the ones that are in bad shape or do not care about.).
I sell all of my US change to a friend, and he sells me all of his silver at melt value. It's a great deal for both of us!
@@CADRollHunter who wants to buy a 2021 D shield cent lol? why would anybody want a coin like that that is just worth face?
