You got some pretty nice looking older dimes in those rolls! I always set those ones aside, too. Congrats in the Morgans and KG5. Sweet. In the last 3 weeks, I've found 2 1998-W dimes. One in a bank-wrapped roll, the other in a customer-wrapped.
@@CADRollHunter Note that the W is a bit on the bottom right of the portrait, so not in the same spot a P would be. I discovered that when finding my 2000 W, and thought I might have missed it if I'd be not careful. Now I check both spots for mint marks... You said a 2003 W P exists! Well I'll look out for these as well. I assume the W P is with the old effigy (or might it be with the new effigy?).
I've found 3 I think, 2 in my last box, and 1 in my current coins, I've had the same $150 dimes on my table for 3 weeks now, I searched all the paper rolls and only have plastic rolls left, and I can see there's no silver in them so I can't come up with the motivation to search lol😅
@@digginggopher That's the downside of plastic rolls. They reveal their contents too easily regarding silver. That happens oftem to me as well, and sometimes when I think there "might" be silver, I open it earlier just to check that particular coin...
Nice pick ups! The peace dollar was in nice shape. I should do another box today. Yesterday I had a nice dump with half of them nickel coins, and 3 of them PLs. Also I got an MS-64 (my estimate) 1982 Small Beads 50 cent piece that the teller had in the till. The best one yet out of nine that I've found.
Nice hunt James. I searched a box of dimes last week just looking for King Charles and found none. I did find, surprise, surprise 4 silvers one is a 1938 more surprise ,so keep looking they are still out there.
Exciting hunt, even with no silver, it's still a pleasure to go through dimes. I got a 2000 W about 1 month ago, and was really pleased, knowing it is a NIFC. It's full nickel (207g) and not extra rare like the 2000 P. In my hunts, I notice several variants of plastic wrappers, where some barely fit 49 (as you say, we have to squeeze in the 50th), but some others are a bit longer, and 51 often fit great. I can say it's quite even in average. Paper rolls might well be overstuffed, and have more likely more than less in my hunts. The number of coins in each roll, for a given wrapper variant in a specific hunt will tell a bit how the person rolled them, if he or she counted them all, or simply quickly stuffed the rolls. And these quickly stuffed rolls have a bit more odds to end up having silver. Let's wish us luck for our future hunts...
No way you are musician James, I never knew 😆 Looking through dimes will put a beating on your eyes. Let's see some of your US albums, page by page go slow 😁Great video James, more content coming your way soon😉
I might well have to do a closer peek at the collection - those US albums are getting better and better! As for my music, I can always send you my greatest hits on 8-Track! ;)
I find dimes are such a pain to search. I just did 50 rolls and no silver, some US a couple of bluenose plain and one colour in circulated condition. I find the dates are no easy to see like other coinage. Slippery when stacking them and easily fall over and not easy to handle. I haven’t searched dimes for awhile and I know why.
@@aaronthedj12 I'm a singer (and play some guitar!). You can look me up on Spotify or wherever you get your music. Look up "James Downham" and give a few tunes a spin! (And follow/subscribe, too!!)
Dime hunt...done. Would have been nice to find little silver. No worries, you got big silver satisfied with those large Peace and Morgan Dollars. Sweet. Love the Canada 10 Cents colored bluenose coin design!
Wow I've watched all you video's now I'm caught up to the most recent one in 2024, nice. Having issues finishing up my 1 cent collection as most banks I go to have no pennies anymore, any suggestions where or how to get some?. Awesome videos.
I hope you find a King George v and a King George VI would be very nice even a Queen Elizabeth II young head dime and they're all silver and also a 1968 silver dime as well as the '60s silver dimes
@@CADRollHunter I found two 12-sided edge nickels and a young head nickel. Looks like I found three of them a shiny young head penny. It's in bu condition. Very good condition
I mean this with all love I hope you tested the Morgan Dollar because I'm not sure if it is the lighting or the toning of the coin but it looks off it doesn't look like a real one like it caught my eye before you even started to mention them
This is excellent advice for anyone purchasing old silver. The dealer I bought from has a Sigma tester. Every coin gets tested. Many smaller dealers may not have that option!
Love finding over stuffed rolls haha! Question: where in Ontario can we exchange American coins for CAD with the exchange rate? Banks and Exchange places only give CAD on par for US. I have a bunch of American coins saved up and would love to trade them in for CAD but with the exchange rate.
I'm not aware of anyone who will exchange US coins at the exchange rate. Best you can probably do is sell it to a friend who is going to cross the border to go shopping.
i havent made videos in almost a year ill say this ive score a few times this year had one of the ladies at my work save me couple barber dimes plus a 1885 Canadian dime in vg shape still finding stuff but its becoming harder i expect by 2030 silver will be impossible to get a lot of people are picking up on it
Hope you're doing well! True enough about the silver. And videos like ours aren't helping! Having said that, we'll get to a point soon enough, where the young folks will have no idea that they ever made coins out of silver...
Those are some nice finds! I doubt that silver will be almost impossible to find by 2030, as there will be people for a while yet dumping their collections and piggy banks.

Always nice to be up after a hunt :) I was able to use your discount code at Lighthouse Canada, thanks again.

As far as my dimes go in Minnesota, found 10 silver so far including 2 of the Mercury type.

Yes! Good luck, indeed!!
In 1965 when the U.S. started counterfeiting coins, thank god they added a clad copper edge to the coins.
lol! Yes - easy to spot that edge!
Couple years ago I had a roll of dimes that had 40$ worth of silver in it pretty nuts
