Great score! I've always admired Canadian coinage but it's difficult to obtain them from US coin dealers. Sometimes the shipping charges make the coins cost prohibitive.
Amazing pickups, count me a little jealous that you found such a nice lot. I'm not sure if you knew the 1977 Nickel Dollar had 3 varieties, I was kinda expecting you to put it under the scope :P Attached Jewel, Detatched Jewel Full Water Lines, and Detached Jewel Short Water Lines.
Same here - I love finding foreign coins and then looking them up. That 1932 is a great one in your collection. I've never found a King George 5th penny coin roll hunting - very hard to find!
I always bust out the cameo coins. The plastic really dulls the effect. They look so much better out of the packaging. It's not worth depriving myself of the experience to keep them all together 😂
So, from 1997 on the sets we're more like proof sets? Earlier this year I purchased unc sets from 1964-1993 to fill in my albums. I'll probably start filling in more modern years by the set. I get very little Canadian coinage down in Florida. I did pick up 1953, 1958, 1963 and a nice looking 1964 dollar coins at the FUN show this weekend.
Canada started producing Proof sets with they typical proof (frosted) finish in the 80s. Prior to that, uncirculated sets were considered either Proof-Like or Specimen. They were circulation coins that might have been struck more than once and had a very smooth finish to them. Now, you can typically purchase Uncirculated, Proof finish, and Specimen finish sets.
@CADRollHunter Yeah. I found that while thing a little confusing. I believe the ones I bought are all the uncirculated sets. Proof sets are more pleasing to the eye. I may collect them as well but I'm into the French FDC sets lately.
Junk silver is sold as a multiple of face value based on the price of silver. At 15 times face value, I'm paying $15 for a silver dollar, $1.50 for a dime and $3.75 for a quarter.
I'm a US dealer. Would you like to bid on the Canadian stuffs I get? I'd be happy to ship to you. You can pay me on receipt. Leave a little meat on the bone for ya. Peace!
I'm from America and I love the detail of Canadian coins. I collect USA and Canadian coins

If you're lucky, some shops will lump their Canadian stuff with the other foreign coins and not even check for key dates, etc. You might get lucky!

Hey, Brian! It was a pretty sweet pick-up for sure. I don't see those commemmoratives very often.
As I said before, you are going to need a bigger safe James! Great buys so jealous!🤤
It's going to have to be a walk-in safe!

Those plastic holders were available in the 60's before that I would have to research.
Interesting! Thanks for watching!
