Hi friends! My name is Wendy Copeland. In 2005 while pregnant with my son Anthony, I became very ill with a kidney infection. It was determined at the moment that I had stage two Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). I left the hospital back then with a diagnosis of Focal Segmental Glomerulus Sclerosis.
My journey with CKD has been quite a ride. Throughout the years, I went through the different stages of CKD, kidney failure, dialysis, and recently a kidney transplant. I have shed a lot of tears but also have celebrated a lot of small victories. My disease has never defined me and I will never stop trying to improve my life.
My goal with this channel is to help others that, unfortunately, will be walking the same road. I am hoping that sharing my experience can help you prepare for or improve what's coming ahead in your journey. I want to share my experience as well as give my best advice to help you stay healthy, happy, and strong.

My Peritoneal Dialysis Routine- What is it like?!
I’m 1 month and a half post transplant. I also was on PD dialysis for almost a year and I feel great now! Only thing is the symptoms of the medication like irritation in bowel movements, great appetite, and acne.
How old were you?
Well Wendy congratulations on receiving life. You inspired me as I watched your video because I will be receiving my new kidneys week from now on Halloween 10/31/2024. I am very excited what will be the difference in my life. You aren’t kidding about the emotional and physical rollercoaster you go through with kidney failure.
I hope everything went well 💚
I had also undergone through kidney transplantation 2 minths ago .

Hey how are you doing?
Thank you for this! Im doing my pre work up. Met my surgeon yesterday, and i had so many different emotions. Scared, happy and guilty cause my sister is my donor. But she said she is not scared because she knows what she is doing is to save me. ❤
Hello. You look gorgeous!!! I am 2+ transplant and literally my hair was thick to my armpit and now recently in a month my edges were THIN and hair has length but looks thin and I have never experienced this in my life! My nails were becoming brittle too so they did an iron test and my iron is perfect but my Vitamin D test showed my levels were at 14L which its suppose to be 20 so I'm deficient right now. They are giving me a supplement of 50,000 weekly so we will see. I'm not getting much fall out, but the thinness has me wearing clip ins to bulk volume! Thank you for sharing!
I would not take Remdesiver. Bad news! You’re lucky you’re ok. I pray you stay that way. Love and light to you and your family!💖😁🙏‼️
Thank you for sharing! Very helpful.

Thank you! Such a helpful video x
Hello dear
Hi there ! I am 10 months post kidney transplant and for several months i was literally almost bald. I was initially on Tacrolimus to begin with and was changed to Envarsus due to tremors. I lost TONS of hair at that point. I went back on the regular Tacrolimus twice a day and my hair stared coming back like crazy. Mine is in the ugly duckling phase where it is very thin on the end as well. Ive got that crazy regrowth as well. Some of it is the trauma of surgery and some is the medication. I am also on 10,000 Biotin everyday, and using Biotin oil on my scalp. I feel you warrior ❤💪🏼
Wendy copeland do you still mesure your A1c every 3 months ?
Thank you for sharing. I’m 8 weeks out from my transplant surgery and your videos are inspirational. Stay strong and bless you❤️
Hii I am also a kidney transplant recipient kindly connect with me I need your assistance.
Thank you so much for sharing. Iam not yet on dialysis. I am at 11% and awaiting My transplant date. My Sister will be donating her Kidney. However she had to have a hysterectomy a few mths ago. So waiting for her to settle down before we can proceed. Your testimonial is very reassuring. Thank you again from the UK 😊
Yes. My last A1c was 6.4 too but it could have been wrong. I may already have it due to unexplained weight loss. 20 pounds.
I can totally relate to what you went thru. I had mine removed post Transplant. It's been over 3yrs for me. I still have pain at the site but a small price to pay. I'm so happy for you....Thanks for sharing.
It's more like an 11/10 for me

Best of luck!
Thanks for the video Wendy! My dad will start PD pretty soon and it’s so good to see how you organized your space. Do you still have the purchase links of the two organizers you used? Thanks in advance!
You are very welcome. Best of luck to him ♥️. I don’t but I know Michael’s has the multi drawer one. And the metal one came from Amazon.
Does the donor also have to take all those medications?
No. The donor does not need medications after transplant.
Good for you nice story We just found out that my husband is going to do dialysis soon because his kidneys are working 10% and he’s going to be on a big waiting list for a kidney transplant from a donor If we can find one 😥
Do still drink water while on PD
Yes, I actually needed to hydrate more but that varies from person to person.
Madam after transplant how long they live
Shall I use derma roller or minoxidil, Is it safe to use ?

Thank you for this video. I was stable at 41p. cent function for years - told my kidney would outlive me. Over the past year, especially, my function has plummeted. I dropped to 31 after having Covid, and now I’m at 24%. It’s terrifying! You mentioned stress as a likely contributing factor for you, and I can say, that the past year has been one of the saddest and most stressful for me. My doctor can’t explain the sudden decrease, but stress might be the answer. Thank you for this video, Wendy! Do you have any advice or tips for me, as I brace for what is to come ? I hope you continue to be well!!
I genuinely wish you nothing but the very best, and my deepest hope is that your remaining kidney function perseveres for countless years ahead. Reflecting on the past, I realize I would have approached those difficult times with more tenderness towards myself, making a conscious effort to embrace relaxation and self-compassion. I would have acknowledged my illness with a gentler heart, showering myself with love and kindness despide the challenges that surrounded me. Stay positive, you got this ♥️
I have ckd too stage 4. 23% non symptomatic I go to gym ...but my expected date of my kidney stage 5 is 2027 I go on dialysis this really scares me but life must continue..my own immunity attacks my kidneys...
@meg... Curious if you have started dialysis, been transplanted, or experienced spontaneous recovery by chanceand how are you doing now?
