Congratulations on your transplant. I had my kidney transplant in 1972 at the age of 14. I’m 64 now, so I’ve had it for a little over 50 years. My dad gave me his kidney and because it’s aged over the years I need another transplant. I was on varying doses of prednisone and imuran through those 50 years. I gained a lot of weight at first but now I’m on 5 mgs three times a week. I also had bad bone issues from it causing me to have to have bilateral hip replacements throughout the years. I had 5 hip replacements on each side. But I had 50 years of health from my dads kidney. After my next transplant (hopefully soon) I will be on belatacept. I wish you the best of luck. I can tell you for certain 5 mgs of prednisone should not do you any harm. Best of luck to you

I had my transplant on 25 april 2023, I am taking 4.5 mg of tacrolimus a day, mycophenolate 360mgx4 a day and 15mg a day predinosome. Only side effects I am having is increased in appetite.
Congratulations on your new lease on life! It’s great you are not experiencing side effects, that’s amazing! I am almost 2 years post now and the increase appetite is still one of my main side effects. It makes it hard to not eat unhealthy foods but I really love that I get to enjoy food again. Take care💚

@@wendycopeland2.0 When I caught CMV at around 7months shortly after stopping Valycte at 6months. Dr took me off Myfortic to help me fight of the CMV and never but me back on it since I had went a few months without it and was doing good never went back on it. on top of it being rough on my stomach.
@@luiscolon1091too bad you got CMV but is kind of cool you are only on tacro and prednisone. Has that work just fine for you? No changes on creatine # s or something else?
@@wendycopeland2.0 it’s working good for me. no changes in my numbers.. bad thing about Prednisone I’m always hungry lol it’s hard not to want to eat everything especially being diabetic

I take Tacro & Cellcept but no prednisone for me
That is great! I have FSGS, my team believes prednisone can protect my new kidney from it.

Congratulations!!! Yes, That was my case with Myfortic. They didn’t replaced myfortic with something else for you?
