  • @Pardero

This is a well-produced video, but the creator may be self-taught, since he made a hybrid of 2 different take-down methods. These are the 2 different methods the Spaniards and Germans employed: 1. Quick take-down: slide, compressed recoil spring, bushing, and knurled locking piece remain together. This quick and easy method allows bore, breech, slide rails, etc. to be cleaned and/or lubricated. DO NOT DISASSEMBLE ANY FURTHER. If you decide you want a full take-down, reassemble, and start over. 2. Full takedown: With pistol fully assembled and slide fully in battery, depress barrel bushing until the knurled lock ring can be turned. The only thing worse than dealing with an Astra 600 recoil spring is fighting a FULLY COMPRESSED Astra 600 recoil spring. The video is excellent except for melding 2 different take-down methods into 1 method. Also, I don't recommend risking scratches from the magazine. Use your fingernails or a handy piece of hardwood with appropriate hole drilled, i.e. same diameter as barrel but smaller than the barrel bushing. A palm-sized barrel bushing compressor allows greater control, and less chance of a powerful recoil spring causing an accident. I hope the author makes another video demonstrating the nuance between 2 different take-down methods for the Astra 600.

"They have been producing AK platforms for a long time, and they're very good at it." What do you expect from people whose land is so strategically placed that they were involved in wars for over 1,200 yrs, in most of the wars in the 1900s, throughout the 1990s amongst each other, and quite literally began WWI?

You're opening introduction implied that the Zastava stamped receiver is a piece of junk. That's about as disingenuous as it gets. The bulged trunion and 1.5 mm steel will last longer than you will. Mikhail Kalashnikov's invention originally was produced by the Soviets as a milled receiver. And, precisely because it took so much time and effort to produce a milled receiver they went with stamped receivers. 90%+ of the AK's out there are stamped receivers.

@dapperdangerous: Let 'em laugh. The jokes on them. The Zastava ZPAP M70 is the best AK out there. It's built like a tank, is accurate, and looks great! I have 5 of them. I bought a Sig Sauer Romeo5 red dot sight for my Serbian Red. Zastava USA makes a mount that goes with their ZPAP side rails. It fits nicely and stays zeroed even after putting hundreds of rounds through the rifle.

Got a question because I've never owned a shotgun. The tube where the shells go holds 2. But when I unscrew the cap on the tube there is a plunger. Can I run the gun if I remove the plunger? I tested it by just racking shells to see and it cycled them. But is that ok?

That is a model 19 target I have one. it is identical to the K 38 masterpiece in that it has a 6" barrel with the excellent patridge front sight and the target hammer and trigger. it also has.. which a lot of folks don't notice.. a trigger strop. The Combat 38 and model 19's were normally 4" barrels and had a ramp front sight and no trigger stop. Hammer and trigger were also different. Mine is in terrible external shape with some pitting but perfect mechanical shape. the target models I believe got a tad more scrutiny before they left the factory and are very very smooth. Mine shoots within a tad or two of my 69 Python or about like my 70's Trooper or model 629 I do have a 1936 K22 masterpiece (called an outdoorsman back then) and it was supposed to shoot 2 inch groups at 50 yards... not by me lol but it is very accurate.
