I had 1965 production SP-1 (with the Edgewater two-piece buffer and a chrome bolt). Those early SP-1's sell for big money today. Subbed!

The _grandpappy_ of *retail* AR-15 models, that is. Indeed, the SP1 (R6000) was introduced to the market in January, 1964, well after the original Colt AR-15 (601/Model 01) was deployed to Vietnam as part of Project AGILE (1962)
