    I told them I'm anemic. Walked in and passed out. On the second visit I had a cycle. Purposely free bleed in the waiting room , exam room, consultation room and finally the copy room ... Needless to say just go on in and look a mess and act worse. I was approved for severe anima after 2 blood transfusions.

    Thank you for what you do. For initial application, If I have supervisors letter, 2 Dr letters, & VA 100%P&T Letter, & Federal OPM approving Federal disability early retirement, should I include these with the initial application?

    • @DisabilityExams
      @DisabilityExams 8 днів тому

      Yes, include them, but keep in mind - Social Security does NOT follow the determination of other organizations regarding disability. They specifically say this on their website. For example, 100% VA disability does not mean Social Security will consider the person disabled, they always make their own determination. That being said, other organizations saying a person is disabled can't hurt and may help.

    I just had an exam yesterday and it was over in 10 minutes. I didn’t get a chance to tell the Dr anything about how my pain affects my inability to work or do daily living. The Dr was on her phone texting and taking a personal call ( her dog was attacked at the groomers)instead of asking me about my conditions. I’m not sure what to think about this situation.

    • @DisabilityExams
      @DisabilityExams 8 днів тому

      If you're correct, I would consider it an inadequate exam. It is very important the doctor determine how your pain affects your ability to work, in fact, one of the most common questions I ask when patients tell me about their conditions is "How does that affect your ability to work?" If you feel you received an inadequate exam, I recommend you contact Social Security, and ask to have another exam with a different doctor.

    Ty Dave. This was helpful. My spouse has a physical CE this weekend. The case is nearing an end I think. It's been n 15 months on initial application. Heart failure is involved, COPD, on oxygen 24/7. It's an ordeal getting my spouse out of the bed as they are bedridden. Praying this goes well. Thank you for the knowledge sir.

    • @DisabilityExams
      @DisabilityExams 13 днів тому

      Best of luck. Heart failure and COPD are areas where Social Security DOES rely a lot on test results. If your husband has had these tests, you want to make sure Social Security has the results: electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, cardiac catheterization, cardiac stress test, pulmonary function tests, and arterial blood gases. Also the records from any emergency department visits and/or hospitalizations.

      You're welcome. As to warmth due to inflammation, it's more due to increased blood flow. The reason inflamed areas are red is the small blood vessels open up and increase the blood flow. The warmth is more noticeable in parts of the body that tend to be cool, such as the hands and feet. The best way to test for warmth in a physical exam is to place the BACK of the hand lightly on the affected area - not the fingertips or front of the hand.

    my son has schizophrenia and was diagnosed with bipolar and anxiety disorder at 8 during his puberty he cycled out of control and started using drugs. i tried to get him disability and help his whole life. its one person after another that denied us. even when he was not on drugs. he is now sober but has the shakes and ticks from his medication. he hyperventilates every few minutes and freaks people out. he cannot follow simple instructions and has memory loss. he also has dyslexia. he lived in the streets for 5 years because he had trouble obeying rules in mental health facilities he often had out bursts is people called him names so he frequently had male nurses not like him and attack him. hos schizophrenia is severe but now i cannot even get on social security because they have his account locked. i assume someone else stole his benefits

      Describing pain is often difficult. I think you did a pretty good job describing it in your question. And, there's nothing wrong with saying a pain "Is hard to describe", because pain often IS hard to describe. For a doctor, the significant things about a pain are 1. where is it located 2. does it spread anywhere 3. what does it feel like 4. what makes it worse 5. what makes it better 6. are there any other symptoms that come on with the pain

    Hi Dr Foster: Thank you for your service! Dr,,, I was awarded a partial disability in 2015.. meaning they awarded me for a 21/2 yrs of a medical journey. At that time I had a double mastectomy and Ovaries removed and diagnosed with a rare Vascular disease so rare tht Vascular surgeons knew little about: it’s called : May Thurner.. it causes reoccurring blood clots.. I’ve had 3 very bad blood 🩸 clot incidents causing severe damage to the vein in the left leg. I was on the operating table when the Dr stopped the surgery due to how my leg was swelling up cuz I had to stop 🛑 blood thinner meds..I feel like my chances of getting perm SSI bcuz it’s not known abt in medical community due to how rare it is,,any suggestions.. it was 10 yrs ago I was diagnosed,,and this progressed

    • @DisabilityExams
      @DisabilityExams 19 днів тому

      Getting Social Security employees to understand rare conditions can be a challenge. My suggestion would be to have your vascular surgeon write a letter describing the condition, it's problems, and likely future outcome. Best of luck. Keep in mind Social Security gives a lot of weight to specialist's opinions.
