    Thanks for the great information. My case was denied so quickly after my ordered exam it seems I may only be able to get another exam during the appeal process. I did let them know it only lasted 5 minutes or less and was asked no questions about my condition and only asked to walk across the room 5 feet. Ankylosing spondylitis, Retrolisthesis, Multiple Ruptured Disks, Multiple Bulging Disks, Bone Spurs, Osteoarthritis are what Imaging has claimed, I probably should have lawyered up at the onset to organize this mess

      If you have those conditions and the exam was as you described, it was inadequate, and you should get another exam with a different examiner. This sounds like a situation where consulting an attorney would be a good idea.

    Thank you. I recently underwent a mental health exam and the examiner mentioned in my behavioral health record it had weigh gain due to stress. I had no idea that was in there and found it interesting. I didn’t think that kind of assessment could be made.

      That is interesting. Some people lose weight, and some people gain weight due to mental health problems.

    I used to work for a mental health organization, and we had an advocate who would assist clients with completing their SSA disability applications. She advised them to answer the questions as if they were describing their worst days, not their best days. Is that fairly sound advice?

      That sounds reasonable. About any medical condition will have good and bad days - a lot of patients will describe their average condition, and how bad it gets. You definitely don't want to only describe a good day.

      Thank you for the info; and I think it’s important to remember. Too often, it seems like on the day of a physical exam. my pain level suddenly feels better temporarily…. Kind of like suddenly having a good hair day the day that we are scheduled to get a haircut lol. But of course, the stakes are much much higher for potential disability claims.

    I've been trying to get accepted by disability. I've tried two times out here in Arizona and got denied and once out in California where I got denied too as well. I cashed my skateboard out in California I've been suffering with a TBI. I get grand mall seizures. They had to remove a third of my skull because my brain was swelling to much and I only had a ten percent chance to survive. I take my seizure medication so I won't have another seizure. I'm constantly getting light-headed and feel the chance of me getting another seizure. I've been applying for the past ten years and just don't know what I should do. I'd really appreciate it if you give me your opinion on what I should do.

      It might be time to get an attorney. Be sure to get an attorney who specializes in disability, not a divorce or auto accident attorney.

    Can you examine me and offer your opinion why I can't walk after 5th back surgery. I had L1,2,3 lami. My legs won't move when I tell them, I think my brain is not responding to my limbs.

      No sorry, I only do Social Security Disability exams. I don't have a private practice. If you are in Florida, I recommend Lyerly Neurosurgery tel: 904-388-6518. I am not affiliated with them, but worked with their doctors when I did emergency medicine, and have had friends operated on by them with excellent results.

    How about Type 1 diabetes? Does that qualify? My A1C last time I checked was a 9.5 in the last 3 months and they have me taking insulin 4 times a day but sometimes my blood sugar would get dangerously low, the lowest it's been was a 35 two days ago. I can't do simple chores such as dishes without losing my breath and i would have to take a seat and sit down, my back hurting for standing up long to do them. My doctors also have me on Lexapro because ever since I got diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis (which is common in type 1) I became depressed and I have bad anxiety issues to the point I can't focus well in work. I use to work from home but I no longer do. I also seek counseling, I go to therapy and even the person I see for that recommended I apply for disability benefits.

      As you know, type 1 diabetes is usually much more serious than type 2. Grounds for disability with type 1 diabetes include inability to control blood sugar well, episodes of hypoglcyemia, especially if requiring emergency room treatment, diabetic ketoacidosis especially if requiring ICU treatment, and complications such as retinopathy, neuropathy, gastroparesis, and kidney disease. Social Security considers physical and psychological problems in disability cases, and many people have both. As I say, the more problems you have and the worse they are, the worse it is for you, but the better it is for your disability claim.

    I had my ce exam on the 5th this month. How long does it take for the medical examiner to send the report to DDS?

    • @DisabilityExams
      @DisabilityExams  5 місяців тому

      It depends on the examiner, but Social Security wants them done within one week.

    Always helpful. Being a doctor and seeing people in pain or suffering is very difficult. You have to have some separation like you said. But that doesn't mean you don't care, you treat them with kindness and do what's best for your patient. Some patients want more and want you to see that and get upset when you can't. It's OK. You sound like a very caring and thoughtful doctor and person. I like your videos and I am going threw the process now. Take care.

      Dr. Foster thank you for your youtube uploads. I’ve learned more from your videos than the attorney that’s supposedly handling my case.
