Anyone watching your videos can tell you are a good, kind and helpful Dr for those who are experiencing disability. Thank you for all your thoughtful comments and experience. Much appreciated Dr. Foster. 🎉 ❤ 🙏
You’re too kind to work for SSA, you still have a soul. 💕 My cousin (BP I) lucked out to have a kind SSA doctor too. We when for her appointment, and man was she manic. Like putting a kitten in a bag. He was gruff at first, but then realized my cousin wasn’t acting. The lithium had stopped working, and we going to see her psychiatrist for an emergency appointment afterwards. Lithium is hard to titrate, and for some reason the levels had dropped. TLDR sometimes there are decent SSA doctors that are willing to give you a fair shake.
I had a person in their early 40s who had been admitted to a psychiatric facility more than 20 times for manic-depression. It can be extremely disabling. And you are correct, sometimes it's difficult to keep lithium at the proper level.
First I want to let you know that your videos are so helpful and compassionate. I am a 58 year old special Ed teacher. I fell at work for the second time . I have back problems and neck problems, vascular insufficiency and injured knees. Most days I can barely walk. I also suffered the loss of two sisters, my brother and husband along with 2 cats. Now struggling with anxiety and depression. I miss working. I been home all year. Not getting better and struggling with the reality of being disabled. I have not yet applied for ssd. I keep hoping I will get better. I also have the fear of being denied ssd. Thank you so much for your time.
Sending good thoughts your way. I’ve seen some uploads on other channels on UA-cam specifically about teachers and disability. Is your work considered something that exacerbates or aggravates your existing injury or condition? I assume you are in a state where teachers pay into Social Security versus the teachers pension program in some states teachers can pay into both, so the teacher would need to apply via their district provided short term disability first in most cases. Not sure if that applies to you or not. So sorry, you have to leave the profession - there’s such a shortage of special ed teachers- but your health is more important, of course.
@@bestiefswlady5251 yes I am ny state. I paid into social security and a pension. I love working and I love teaching. I have trouble walking and I'm In constant pain. Thanks for your good thoughts. Appreciate it!
A couple of thoughts: 1. since you are over 55 years old, it will be easier for you to get approved for SSDI compared to a younger person. However, many people are denied. 2. If you receive a letter of denial, consider appealing, which must be done within 60 days, and if the appeal is denied, consider appealing a second time, which will result in an Administrative Law Court case, either in person, or by Zoom or phone. The approval rate in Administrative Law Court is fairly high. I think too many applicants give up when their application is first denied. 3. Also, consider engaging a Social Security Disability attorney. You want an attorney who specializes in disability, not an auto accident or divorce attorney. Good luck!
Thank you, along with the over diagnosis of mental health is the unwillingness to diagnose something more serious like early dementia or Parkinson disease which can actually go hand in hand with mental health.
There are certain mental health problems that are over-diagnosed, and others that are under-diagnosed, is my opinion. And they go in fashions, like bell-bottoms. Currently over-diagnosed are attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism, bipolar disorder, narcissistic personality disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Arrived at my SS DISABILITY EXAM 30 MINUTES early, sat in the parking lot , the examiner Arrived at 5 minutes before my appointment, all went well kinda like a physical.
Doctor Excellent ! i love this channel. I agree. Can you please share the proper diffrence between mental illness and mental defectives!? Would you agree that demonic possession is real?

Does this apply for SSI as well? Or just SSD?
