    Thank you Dr. Foster this is really helpful, I am a combat veteran recently had to leave my job due to my conditions and I have a CE coming up. I am very anxious about this exam and it’s been triggering but listening to this has helped put me at ease so much.

      Best of luck. Here are some tips: 1. focus on your work related limitations, not your diagnoses or test results. Focus on how you are now, not in the past or future possibilities. Use non-medical language.
      Bad: "I have an L5-S1 disk herniation and left sided radiculopathy"
      Good: "My low back hurts a lot, and I get a burning tingling pain going down my left leg to the foot. I can't stand or walk more than 10 minutes because the pain gets worse, and if I lift more than 8-10 pounds it really hurts".

      I used to have a little Quaker parrot named Squeaky. Raised her from a baby. Parrots are wonderful pets!
