    great, any other videos on this? I found my self with an overwhelming amount of Natural Emeralds and decided to take up lapidary, just cut my first 3 stones but need to get the little things down. I see people using some type of film with something on it to polish, very thin film, any ideas what it might be? Thanks

    • @BOPIESDiamondsFineJewelry
      @BOPIESDiamondsFineJewelry 14 днів тому

      Thank you. Yes, I have made many videos on cutting and polishing emeralds, both lab created and natural. I do not know if there are videos by others discussing different polishing oxides to use on Emerald. The film that you are seeing others use are called Ultra Laps. They are a mylar film with various types of polishing medium applied (can be diamond or an oxide). For Emerald I use Cerium Oxide Ultra Laps. You can get them at pretty much any lapidary store. The best ones I have found, in my opinion, come from Ultra Tec. Best of Luck.

      Hi there. If you have a 2 carat rough diamond then after polishing it you get how many carat roughly??

    • @slackwatters9604
      @slackwatters9604 16 днів тому

      @lawrenceushamba6836 depends on the cut. The cleavage points and the diamond cuz those are hard cleavages to work with. On a 2-carat diamond you're looking at 0.9 at the largest 0.4 at the smallest if it's properly and clean. So basically it depends on the rough that you start with. Andrew expectations of what you want that stone to look like. At that point it would most likely be a rounded Stone. They achieve that by grinding two diamonds on each other. Don't really cut diamonds I do Herkimer diamonds which are quartz doubly terminated from Herkimer New York.

    I love and appreciate your tutorials and when you are cutting, background music is o.k., but in tutorials where you are explaining a software program, background music is a distraction. It’s hard to wrap the brain around the background noise; like listening to a professor explaining quantum physics with Metallica playing in the background. 😂 I make instructional tutorials for two different channels that I have. No music. Reg didn’t use music in his tutorials for GCS.

    Dragi prijatelju, hvala Vam na vrlo poučnim video tečajevima obrade dragog kamenja. Ja živim u Hrvatskoj u EU zajednici država. Već 20 godina u Hrvatskoj nema niti jednog draguljara koji se bavi brušenjem sirovog kamenja, stari majstori koji su svi bili Židovi su umrli, a njihovi nasljednici kupuju jeftino brušeno sintetsko ili prirodno kamenje iz Kine i ugrađuju ga u nakit. Zanima me dali se putem ovakvih video tečajeva uopće može postići razina kvalitetnog draguljara ili se mora otići i uživo učiti od nekog draguljara u živo, na nekom tečaju ? Možete li mi reći koliko košta stroj za brušenje, koji koristite i softver kojega koristite za brušenje kamenja i koji je proizvođać tih proizvoda i dali se uopće mogu kupiti ? Također mogu prodati najkvalitetnije i najrijeđe KALCIT kristale koji uopće postoje, a sam ih pronalazim i vadim ispod površine morskog dna ili iz rupa u stijenama uz morsku obalu Jadranskog mora. Imam boju identičnu ovom vašem citrinu, a i malo svjetliju, više žućkastu. Cijena exclusiv citrinskog kalcita je $40/ct a žućkastog $30/ct. Ukoliko želite vidjeti neke uzorke mogu vam poslati dobre fotografije na Gmail ili Whats App. Hvala unaprijed na odgovoru ! Puno pozdrava i Božjeg blagoslova ! Interesting: despite a significant difference in weight estimate numbers ( Vol/W^3 -- .463 vs .395), the end products are nearly the same.

    • @BOPIESDiamondsFineJewelry
      @BOPIESDiamondsFineJewelry Місяць тому

      No really. You are making an assumption about the 'significant difference' in the weight estimation numbers that is incorrect. You are assuming that .463 and .395 is a significant difference....but it depends on the size of the number that you are multiplying these two numbers by, Here is the KEY. Give me the W cubed number. We know the Width is the same for both gems at 7mm...but W in this case is not shown in mm...it isn't "7"....there is a period and zero's in front of the 7 in this formula....so I'll leave the rest to you to solve then you will see.

    • @tsmith4338
      @tsmith4338 28 днів тому

      @@BOPIESDiamondsFineJewelry But the Vol/W^3 is a simple multiplier in the formula: a change in it's value should result in a linear change in the product. A 17% bigger value will result in a 17% product. Although, that's not accounting for the differences in density and the varying girdle/crown/pavillion geometries. If it were different for each size(width), there would need to be an array of values for each different width.
