I polish with 3,000 grit topper. Then I go 14,000 diamond grit then I go 50. I only have a copper for polish. I have a bunch of toppers but I got to get some new ones.
@lawrenceushamba6836 depends on the cut. The cleavage points and the diamond cuz those are hard cleavages to work with. On a 2-carat diamond you're looking at 0.9 at the largest 0.4 at the smallest if it's properly and clean. So basically it depends on the rough that you start with. Andrew expectations of what you want that stone to look like. At that point it would most likely be a rounded Stone. They achieve that by grinding two diamonds on each other. Don't really cut diamonds I do Herkimer diamonds which are quartz doubly terminated from Herkimer New York.
Man…too bad to hear that you have not seen the vendor since that purchase. The cut stone did come out nice though even with the problems. I have seen similar gem rough problems from another cutter who does a lot of Montana sapphires.

Hi there. If you have a 2 carat rough diamond then after polishing it you get how many carat roughly??

@@slackwatters9604 thanks for the info
That is interesting that you use a 3K topper. In my experience, going any finer than 600 grit on a topper is a problem. Glad it works out for you.
