Mike. Please change the battery in the smoke detector. Too much beeping noise. Very cool and educational videos. I appreciate all your knowledge. Thank you. & Happy Faceting 😊
Another great video thanks! Your recut is SO much more attractive than that behemoth you started with. I didn’t see the starting weight - how was your yield? Had to be better than if you started from a rough stone.
Yes, the original stone was just too heavy, weighing in at 143.23cts. Yield was just under 50% which is much better than I normally do with a piece of true rough. However, yield was not the goal in this case. Cutting out that cloud in the pavilion without losing much size (length to width) was the goal, and the final gemstone is essentially the same size as the original.
Really nice large stone faceting. Any other recommendations on how to utilize blue topaz for cutting? I am only asking because I just bought a nice light blue imperial topaz and trying to figure out what cut would be best.
Sure. Go on Face Book to one of the gem cutting pages. There are MANY pages for cutters. One page is called "Gem Cutters Helping Cutters". Go to that page, post a photo of your rough, from all angles, and list the measurements. Ask for advice on what shape or design might work best. You will get great assistance from the great cutters out there, we are a very friendly and helpful group of people!

Thank you! I will take care of that right away. Bopie already put that on my 'Honey do' list...she will be happy you noticed 🙂
You can put a range into facetingdiagrams by just typing for example 1.4-1.6 to save some time looking through all the options.
Super advice! Thank you very much as I didn't know that. I really appreciate that information, as I'm always learning something.

It’s a London Blue. Swiss Blue is much paler. Either way, it’s a gorgeous redo!🎉
Can you show us how you dip?
