Hello Mr. Mauser, I just learned about the incident at Columbine a little over a month ago and learned about the victims including your son, I would’ve loved to meet him despite all this happening 12 years before I was born (I’m 13), and I learned that he was shy and not the most athletic person but when I saw this video I could just tell he was shy and I feel like me and him could’ve gotten along again despite me only being 13, I hope to visit Colorado and go to his spot on the ring of remembrance and pray that he’s doing well up there and maybe even put a rose on it (I don’t know if that’s allowed). That’s all I wanted to say, Rest in Peace Daniel Conner Mauser. And Mr Mauser if you somehow end up reading this and reply, you can call me Taj.

Hi Tom. I read your book a while ago, and I just wanted to share a story . I thought of it today while listening to Elton John at work. In the event you see this, maybe it will mean something to you. When I first saw Thirteen Families, I listened to the song "Daniel" by Elton John sometime after it. And I thought about your son Daniel. The song's lyrics made me think of him. And then I read your book a while after that and read that Elton John's song was part of the reason why you named him Daniel. I have often found myself listening to songs and connecting them to movies, books or people and just assuming it's because I had just been watching that movie, for example. But I've started paying more attention lately because listening to music has always been a spiritual experience for me. And I'm starting to wonder if there are reasons why certain songs make me think of certain people or things. I just wanted to share and let you know. And I hope your family is doing well.

Eric and Dylan were the bullies who killed innocent , nerdy type kids like Daniel. The whole story was ass backwards. Fuck Eric and Dylan. Rip Daniel.

I was the same age as many of the victims when this tragedy struck. Happened my junior year of high school and it hit me like a ton of bricks. For my generation, in a way, we kind of grew up with the memory of those slain and they are a part of us. I cannot even fathom the kind of ugliness one must have to submit to in order to be capable of sending the grieving parents of a murdered child such filthy, callous messages. This is truly a fallen culture we live in. I am sorry you have to deal with that sometimes, Mr. Mauser. I have noticed that many of these people who romanticise the two gunmen whilst also claiming to despise bullying so much tend to be bullies themselves, in their own way; they are just too self-absorbed, immature, and antisocial to perceive their own glaring hypocrisy. That about sums up the two cowardly gunmen, whose very names aren’t even worth mentioning. God bless you and yours, Mr. Mauser. We will always honour your Daniel and all those who lost their lives that day.

I cried this whole video. I myself lost my older brother not to gun violence but negligence after a major surgery. As a family we had good and bad days. I will take all the bad days just to have my brother back. As time goes on you just keep moving but nothing is ever really the same. My Jehovah keep you all and bless you 😢

He's so adorable, it hurts. I hate that this happened. He hits me harder than the others, I think because he reminds me of someone very important to me. How many times are we going to repeat history before the gun laws are effectively changed?

Daniel was such a wonderful soul. I think much of it is due to you being such an awesome and loving father.

Well said Tom. I 100% agree with you on the "Get a life". Somebody who has nothing better to do than sit on a computer and troll is absolutely pathetic. Make some friends, get a hobby, join a club, take a class; plenty more productive things to do with their time. I also agree with you in response to bullying. Don't counter bullies with violence, that makes one just as bad if not potentially worse than a bully. Rise above it by doing something great. Plenty of successful people were bullied as kids and showed off to their bullies by being successful later in life.

It's ridiculous that you were arrested for just standing outside with a sign. You weren't threatening anyone, you weren't starting a fight, you were on public property holding a sign. Just goes to show what cowards they really are.

hi, I want to ask, I found out your channel after the events at Columbine that you are the older brother of Daniele Mauser and I sympathize with your brother, I have not seen this event since I come from 2004 and I saw a lot of events similar to Columbine and I also survived school shooting in my city and I'm still scared and I graduated from school and I'm studying college in Aichi but I'm afraid for my little brother because he's also studying at the school that I studied I sincerely believe that your brother's soul is already at peace in heaven

I was just in elementary school at the time of the shooting but it's always impacted me. RIP Daniel, a life cut short. He would be 41 this year.

Hello Tom, I’m commenting today because I’ve been thinking about your story and Daniel recently. Can’t believe it’s been almost 25 years since you lost Daniel. He was such a terrific, smart and brilliant kid. I’m only 20 years old myself and hopefully one day I can have a son like Daniel and become a parent like you. With all of the work you have done for Daniel and for gun violence is very inspiring to me. When I heard that you still wear his shoes makes me cry, so powerful for you as a parent. Thank you for posting this. It’s important for people to remember the people who passed from the despicable events at columbine, and not just their death and victimhood. It’s clear Daniel was such a loving you man. Someone with a heart of gold. A child who loved his mother and father and family. Someone with a good head on his shoulders who truly wore his kindness on his face.

I find it disgusting that this father was arrested for protesting against gun violence.

Tom,thank you for sharing these videos. It's easy to get caught up in the media portrayal of the event and forget the victims. I'm sure your boy would be proud of how you've kept his name alive. I can only imagine the battles, both emotional and literal, that you've had to endure. My heart goes out to to and your family and I hope someday you find the peace you deserve.
