      Vance Stone Um, no. I played lots of Doom when I was younger, listened to all sorts of music (including Manson), and I turned out just fine and dandy. Your solution isn't a solution. This is the same kind of non-sense that people like Dr. Phil try to sell.

      I’d say it’s a good thing to reach out to younger kids who are edgy and look up to them cause it could make them rethink things especially with how well put it was in the video and could even stop potential school shootings. That being said anyone over the age of 15-16 who admires them is a complete idiot, even their manifesto seemed like it was written by a middle schooler

      What's worse is Rob Merritt (the co-author of Brooks Brown's book) is pretending to be a "podcaster" named "Bill Ockham" and is colluding with Randy Brown for who knows what reason, and is name-dropping, telling everyone he's got an interview/podcast with Tom Mauser, and he's using Tom's name to get subscribers and attention for whatever scheme they are up to. It's not just H&K admirers... people from the Columbine community (Randy & Rob) are also being trolls.

    I sat next to a H&K admirer in my first our class when I was a freshman in high school in 1999. He was several years older than me. He was about 400lbs with bright orange hair (not died just natural) and he used to carve the word "kill" into his skin day after day. I talked to him nicely everyday until I got him to laugh one day. He was picked on so bad probably even by his own family too that's how bad it was. He ended up getting expelled for planning a "columbine" on my school. Later in life he sent me a MySpace message and told me he just wanted to thank me for being the only person who was kind to him and acknowledged he was a real person. The day I got him to laugh was the day he was going to "blow up our school and kill himself" but he changed his mind bc someone was kind to him for the first time ever that day. He thanked me for not only saving his life but my actions saved many others. It's costs $0.00 to be kind. You never know what is going on in someone head. "Your character isn't determined by how many people you are kind to but by how many people you are kind to THAT CAN DO NOTHING FOR YOU!"

One, as bad as it can get, it's still tame compared to some of the nasty and hateful stuff I've received from gun nuts, who are usually adults, whereas these trolls are often kids. It's easier to be a bit more forgiving. Also, what good would my anger do? These are faceless cowards lurking in the internet. Why get upset like they'd want me to be? I feel that I got to speak my mind in this UA-cam video, and there's a chance they watched the video before responding --so maybe eventually my words will sink in.

    I was bullied from my first year ever starting school, to my senior year, but I do not feel bad for Eric or Dylan. They were bullies themselves, they were not completely victims. And even if they were bullied, that is no excuse to go and kill people. The best revenge is to grow up and become successful and show the bullies that you are more than what they thought you were.

I sympathize with both Eric and Dylan and the victims in the school, in addition to the family's that suffered great pain. Bullying is something we all need to pay more attention too.

I don't know you and all you have to go by is a keyboard statement but plenty of kids who were there have different statements and timelines how everything played out. Unless we can hear the actual recording in the library all the way through, non of us will ever know the full story.

Mr. Mauser would rather never see this face for the rest of his life. What's going on with you? (I apologize if I'm putting words in your mouth Mr. Mauser)
      I also question the values of someone using a picture of a deceased son, who has a family that loved him, and at the same time must live with the unspeakable crimes of their son who selfishly took his life and condemned his family to live with his murderous rage until the day they die.
      Have you not a bone in your body that can put 2+2 together, and figure out how socially unacceptable this is? Have you no compassion? No sense of right or wrong? I understand you can hide behind social media, but that gives you no excuse to be an arrogant, and hateful person. Just think about it. I hope you'll consider my words and do something to make yourself feel better in a healthier way.

      Dabnabbit now that I think about it, I think he was the only one who fought back. It's terrible he was even in that position. If I was the first responding officer I would have chased them boys down, they were inexperienced little boys shooting guns, is be a trained police officer. I know this is all easier said then done, but it could have been stopped a lot sooner. Apparently there was an officer right outside the library door at one point but he was ordered to back off, and I read the snipers had klebold in their sights numerous times but were ordered not to shoot. I'm not 100 percent of what I read is factual, but I was reading from credible sources I figured. If only the kids came up with a plan to tackle klebold and Harris from behind. I know if them two boys were here today they'd regret every single thing they did. They would never be able to look in the mirror. The only legacy they left is heartache.

    How awful that people feel the need to harass a parent of a victim, and how bizarre that some should admire the killers. There's nothing to admire about two very unstable people with going into a school with guns. That's a very simple truism. Awful that your son was victim to this nonsensical violence, awful that it happened at all.

      ***** You must be ignorant to the actual ideas of satanism. I do not bash other for how they believe nor do I believe in death, destruction, etc like the mainstream media would like you to believe. I am a human being as are you. No need for your hostility on a video that is supposed to be against that sort of thing.

    • @helenkeller9458

      ***** Again, It is you who is being hostile as a man of god and I (a man of darkness in your eyes) am calmly explaining to you that it isn't about all of that hate you have built up inside of you. The man in this video lost someone dear to him because of that same anger. I am not concerned with who's god or lack thereof is going to destroy what. My concern is that we, as human beings, treat each other with respect and dignity instead of spouting off hateful rhetoric over the internet. You can continue to disrespect me and that is ok, your words do not hurt me, but you should have enough respect for this man to refrain from starting petty arguments in a video of this nature.

Second, You are the only one here showing any malice at all. What does that say about your god when you act like that towards someone whom you do not know even slightly? Third, It does not matter to me how you believe or how you think that I should believe and no amount of preaching to me is going to change that, I am very educated in religions from most every culture and have read your bible many times. Last but not least, I am going to ask you again why you think it is ok to belittle me using your choice faith on a post about gun safety? I think you are being very rude towards the man who posted this.

    I'm actually researching Columbine for a psych class, and it is fascinating to study H&K from the psychological aspect; it's interesting how different they were and how their mental illnesses made each other explode like that. I'm also reading the memorial sites, information on the victims and their planning and lives; it gets me really emotional and I rarely ever cry. Your videos give a lot of insight into my paper because it's focusing on H&K's mental illnesses as well as the aftermath and the grief suffered. My teacher's asking for a lot on this and I can't even comprehend how horrible it is for the victim's family.

    • @safemauser

      Thanks for writing and reflecting. Too often there are those who overlook the mental illness issue because they want to blame bullying (because they suffer from it themselves) or want to stop bullying. It is a terrible problem but it must be kept in context and those who are bullied shouldn;t be maligned as being likely to 'explode."

People really don't think, they just try to be funny and show off but really they come across as socially awkward losers. I like your reply, really I am sorry for your loss. I hope in the future individuals such as Harris, Klebold and even Seung-Hui Cho can be diagnosed and supported so events like this don't reoccur. A lot of respect for you man, honestly. I know, bullying is awful. At the end of the day, slaughtering individuals as a sick way of getting revenge is plain wrong. I'm sure your son was a great young man. Even if he did look the other way, he did not deserve any of this. Your son was the victim of two insane individuals who needed help and support they never got. Have a nice day.

    Just recently started reading about issues like Columbine and gun control and it's just so disturbing. The fact that Police couldn't arrest Eric after all the things he put online and the fact their parents couldn't tell they were that disturbed is hard to believe. It should have been prevented. Also the fact that people support the shooters is even harder to believe. The fact that there are people who would troll the Father of one of the victims breaks my heart. It's all just so upsetting really. What was going on with Eric and Dylan and what they did and how it damaged everybody. It also inspired the Virginia Tech shooting. I feel really bad for Tom Mauser and the victims of Columbine.

    • @bucknhot
      @bucknhot 8 років тому

      The police could have searched Eric's home and found all the evidence he had hidden. Then the whole thing would have been prevented. But the police failed to follow through with a search warrant. Then they hid the evidence for several years after everything happened.

    • @brendanconnelly2069
      @brendanconnelly2069 8 років тому

      bucknhot It's not just the things that could have prevented it that were not done it's the things not done when it happened. They didn't challenge the killers by going inside to stop them. Daniel Mauser may still be alive if they did. Columbine really changed police procedures. When the Virginia Tech shooting happened they challenged the killer and went inside. Probably prevented it from being worse then it was.

    I was a freshman when columbine happened and have done extensive research on it on and off ever since. I have also been confined to a wheelchair all my life so I know what its like to be an outcast. I also know the difference between being depressed and being a flat out monster. Someone who is depressed usually keeps to themselves. Thats it. They dont want to hurt anyone. They're sad and want things to get better. Eric and Dylan however, were into Nazism. They were racist. They hated god. We all have our beliefs but if you hate something that stands for good then You are purely a symbol of evil. I wish I could travel back in time to that day and stop what they did.

Our pastor wrote a book called Sent to Soar and I just finished the chapter called "The Shootings". It turns out he was a responder that tragic afternoon. It just got me thinking about all the kids. Mr. Mauser,
    I am deeply touched with you and your sons story, and I highly appreciate the fact that you are using this unfortunate tragedy for such a good cause. After doing some research on this tragedy I have come to agree that I do think that guns play a very big part and can cause much more damage to our lives than we think, and so due to this I am anti - gun. I am very sorry for your loss. Daniel was a very lovely, charming and kind human being, I am glad that his death along with the 12 other victims has shed light on this issue and tightened gun laws and security around the world. Every time I hear Daniel's story it inspires me to do something good for the world. I have to thank you for that as you play a very big part in it.
    Thank you for all the work and dedication you have put into this, I hope it carries on.
    I am planning on buying your book very soon and was wondering where I could purchase it? Thank you.

    • @safemauser
      @safemauser  10 років тому +14

      At the time the standard operating procedure for the police was to surround and contain the scene and attempt to negotiate (whereas now, largely b/c of Columbine, they now use an active shooter SOP). But even under the old SOP, how could you not react to 911 calls of shooting inside the school, even though, admittedly, there were reports of bombs? There were kids in there. Even in the military SOP can be adjusted to meet the situation. Sheriff Stone blew it, big time. You can't blame the individual officers.

    • @safemauser
      @safemauser  10 років тому +8

      Jonas Christener SWAT teams WERE there. But Sheriff Stone wouldn't let them go in, for THEIR own safety. He waited it out. And now he has to live with that for the rest of his life...

      I would have broke protocol and ran my ass right into that school,this is the oath that officers take,which is to run to the danger while others run away.I could have not been a cop in that area on that day.Because I would have gotten fired or maybe would have died in the process but lives would have been saved.At ALL COST!

    There's a UA-cam account called "cleaning columbine" which makes some very intelligent arguments about the bullying situation with H&K. I believe they were outcasts on some level, but I don't believe that is entirely why they attacked the school, and they should absolutely not be considered martyrs for bullying. I was wondering if you've heard of this youtube account, because it also just posted a tribute for your son.

      +crybaby Losers, this guy son's Daniel Mauser was probably the last person who would bully someone, so anyone saying his son was a bully is full of shit, Harris and Klebold kiilled him for their death toll.

      Eric and Dylan were bullies themselves. They were hypocrites. They killed Kyle Velasquez because of his disability. Not because he was bully. None of the people they killed even bully them. They even spared Evan Todd's life who was the REAL bully to them.

    I honestly believe the main reason this attack was carried out was because Eric Harris was mad at the world, and Dylan Klebold was influenced by Eric who believed that if their lives were going to be terrible, then everyone else deserved to suffer. Eric wanted to kill and didn't care if he died, and Dylan wanted to die and didn't care if he killed. What they did was horrible but I still don't think it's gun laws that are the problem, I think it's how we view mental health and how we treat disorders that possibly contributed to this tragedy. I'm very sorry for your loss and I thank you for your time reading this.

    Mr Tom Mauser I am from Greece and I have watched all the documentaries about columbine. There are no words to describe how I felt and you are so right on anything you say!!!!!!! I do believe the trolls need attention in their lives since they are living an empty life so by doing so they believe that they will gain something. Ending a life so violently is something that it stays in our mind forever. Life should be respected because it's a Gods gift to humanity and not something to play with.

      I hear that- I myself have had some terrible problems regarding those "Keyboard Thugs" in my own life- I have a disability that most people my age have never seen in person (Polio) and the things people (who never even met me) wrote on my Myspace/Facebook/UA-cam was so hurtful it caused me to be hospitalized. I must say Mr.Mauser, that I wish I had seen your videos years ago- I have a new attitude towards my personal struggles and hope you know that my attitude since first finding your page on the 5th has drastically changed from "I'll always be miserable/ No one has it as bad as DANA has it" to "Well this sucks, but you aren't the only one with problems, and your problems are worse than some and better than some- and if people can lose their children/homes/parents/body-mobility and be positive, I can to." Is there a way we could possibly exchange e-mails? I'd love a little more insight on how you were able to gain such a great attitude towards these wimps and live a (as it appears) fulfilling life.
      Thanks for the reply!
      Dana

    It sickens me that so many people admire sick creatures like Eric and Dylan, want to be like them, that so many admire those two that a victim himself has to come online and respond to them. This is sick. Disgusting.

    Dear Mr. Mauser,
    First of all, I'd like to saw that I agree with everything you said, and I give my sympathy for your loss. It appears each year, trolls accumulate, and technology expands. You rarely or ever see a crowd of trolls in public, yelling and aggressively shouting how they worship and sympathize with the killers, because they are afraid, because they rather hide behind a screen and taunt others. However, when it comes to being in person, if they were to troll, they would be asking for a death sentence from families and friends who have lost their loved ones from the mass murderers that these trolls seem to look up to.
    Fact of the matter is, they're nothing but childish individuals who don't have any potential in their lives, and if so, they rather waste it on making others feel lower than them, because they know, we all know, that these trolls realize they are scum, but live in a world of in denial. I say you are strong and you know how to walk through hell and withstand the fools of this world. You have my support!

    Those admirers are silly and still 'suffering' from puberty. It's full of so called 'columbiners' on tumblr and it really annoys me. I hope they grow up soon enough. (Although I'm around their age. I guess I'm just more mature or mentally healthier than they are.) Did your son have any kind of contact with any of those two guys?
    I'm so sorry for your loss and I'm sure your son was a beautiful and kind human being. I doubt he'd be the type to bully two kids. I do look up to you as you've gone through such a dreadful thing! I hope nothing but the best for you in the future!
