@@gailburford1655 This is more of a price for custom work than for buying and selling in my booth. I would be on the low end of that if it was going in my booth. There's a level of risk taken in doing a customer's piece, etc. I hope that helps

I don't typically use wax. For the shading I usually use, Chalk Mineral Paint, Voodoo Gel Stain, or Glaze. I believe if you want to use wax, you might start with Clear wax if you want your darker colors to be removed easily.

Glaze would be something I add after the painting to give it even more aged appearance. It's quite thin so almost more of a tint as opposed to paint. It doesn't help a distressed look as much though. So, if I felt the Vintage Duck Egg was too fresh and bright, I could tone it down with a brown glaze.

Yes I paint the bed first, one color, then use the other color for the shading after the first color dries a good day or so.
