This is the stupidest video one could make on this topic. First off, it relies on Jung, one of the chief fathers of modern psychotherapy. Jung was very keen on doing everything the speaker condemns. Yes, of course, there must be balance in therapy, and one shouldn't overindulge in obsessing about the past. But does that mean one should just forego it to focus on "the present and future goals"? Come on. The tree can only grow upwards by having his roots reach deeper. Then he calls on scripture and equates Jung's individuation with sanctification. Now this is so mistaken that it shouldn't even need commentary. Even Jung himself never pretended the two could be compared. You will learn nothing from this video. The guy just keeps repeating the same thing over and over again, never giving any valuable argument. The truth is: your therapist can make you worse, hell yeah, if there is something wrong with him or with your intention when going for therapy. Past present and future are interdependant and each has its own place in the process. Individuation is the process of becoming a full, matured individual. Sanctification is reaching union with God, thus transcending one's individuality. Someone whose individuation process is incomplete will surely find obstacles on his way to sanctification. Read Jung directly if you wanna know what he says, you'll find something way different and incomparably more profound.

I found your remarks to be curious. While you denigrate my attempt to connect Jung's concept of Individuation with the Biblical concept of sanctification, you also affirm my point for me. You said: "Individuation is the process of becoming a full, matured individual. Sanctification is reaching union with God, thus transcending one's individuality. " This is not bad. I would add that through maturity and personal growth, the Self is being conformed to the image of God and his Son. Thus, Individuation & santification are two sides of the same coin. One is stating our transformation from God's perspective and the other from the human perspective. I believe Jung's emphasis on psychological wholeness is a perspective that many believers would benefit from considering and applying to their walk with God. Anyway, thank you for watching.

@@marriageranger thanks for your answer and sorry for my harsh words. I was a little pissed as I kept watching waiting for an insight. So I hear what you say about individuation and sanctification being two sides of the same coin. That would be quite convenient. Unfortunately, it couldn't be further from the truth. For sanctification needs the participation of a transcendantal power, emanating from God and reaching the individual. I know Jung is very unclear about this. It is because he himself struggled with the distinction of the psychic realm and the spiritual realm. His falling away was in trying to reduce the spiritual to the psychological. It seems that he was aware of his error but couldn't rectify it. Anyway. Individuation as Jung puts it isn't growing into the Image of God. Not at all. It is a purely intra-psychic process. That you include the "collective unconscious" and "archetypes" changes nothing to the matter. Individuation happens within the psyche. Sanctification, by definition, is the transformation of the psyche through contact with the spiritual.

Massive, massive oversimplifications in this video. What did you think you’d get from an armchair pseudo-therapist UA-cam guru? The way this guy presents Jung is as if he was asked whether or not a glass is half full or half empty. Jung never said to not look into the past. Everything he pointed to was about coming to integration of opposites/conflicts - the mysterium coniunctionis. If someone is fixated on the past, their past should be attended to but they should also be encouraged to look at the present/future. Had to turn this off after about 3 minutes.

    • @marriageranger

Thank you for commenting, but perhaps it would be better to watch more than three minutes of the video before disparaging the message. Of course, there is value in confronting and assimilating past traumas, but fixation upon trauma is destructive and contrary to growth. Jung believed in examining the ARCHETYPES and gaining deeper self-awareness from what has been repressed within the shadow self. The objective is to heal and restore what was lost. Obsessing over our trauma is utterly fruitless. May I suggest reading The Undiscovered Self or Modern Man in Search of a Soul?

"No civil, legal, religious, cultural, or state divorce is valid in the eyes of God. This includes all human divorces that have taken place on planet Earth since Adam and Eve sinned. Not a single one of them severed the one-flesh union of a lawful marriage. They all took place without God’s permission. They were all unilateral decisions, as they are to this day, and will be to the end of time."

Can I get a divorce if my spouse commits adultery? Never! Can I get a divorce if my spouse is abusive to me? No! Can I get a divorce if I no longer love my spouse? Absolutely not! Can I get a divorce if my spouse has abandoned me? No, you can't! So, under what circumstances can I get a divorce? Absolutely none. The Bible is absolutely clear: only death can dissolve a marriage in God's sight. Our only option is to separate from our spouse and stay single. If things get better between our spouse and us, we can get back together (1 Corinthians 7:10-11, Bible). But what about the exception in Matthew 5:31-32 and Matthew 19:1-9? There is no exception in Matthew’s gospel: Once you are married, you are married for life. No one in the Bible ever got a divorce for adultery or fornication. There was no need for divorce because those found guilty were stoned to death. All divorces were for reasons other than adultery or fornication. Once married, always married until death do us part, with no exceptions. This applies to all human beings, regardless of whether you are a sinner or a saint.

In videos like this, I often see a bunch of people who insist that any and all remarriage after divorce is adultery, regardless of the circumstances. Those of you who are so certain of that should have zero difficulty answering these seven questions: (1) Was adultery lawful under the Mosaic Law? (2) If not, how do you explain Deut 24:1-4? (3) Was Esther an adulteress for her marriage to King Xerxes after he divorce Queen Vashti? (4) If not, when did remarriage become adultery? (5) Did Jesus abolish or restrict divorce even for serious cause? (6) If so, when did Heaven and Earth disappear? (Matt 5:17-18) (7) If Heaven and Earth disappeared, why wasn't I informed?

Thank you for this video. It's nice to see some common sense and common decency on this matter as both of these things seem to be in short supply among UA-cam videos on this subject. The marriage permanence heresy takes a valid moral imperative, as stated in Matt 19:9, Mark 10:11, and Luke 16:18 - and stretches it well past its intended scope and context. I would consider these scenarios: Scenario I: A man has been married to Jessica for 10 years. He takes a liking to Rachel, who is a real cutie and likes to flirt with him. He desires to be with Rachel, but need to get Jessica out of the way first. So he conjures up some flimsy excuse to be rid of Jessica (any excuse will do) then runs off with Rachel. They get married and no further thought is given to Jessica who he so cruelly cast aside. Scenario II: A man has the misfortune of being married to some worthless, narcissistic, abusive woman. But her third arrest for shoplifting to support her drug habit was the last straw. He divorced her, and quite reasonably so. Five years later, he met Deanna and the rest was history. Analysis: You do not need to have spent a single day in Sunday School to understand the moral difference between the actions of Rachel's husband and Deanna's. Even pagans and atheists can tell the difference. One of the scenarios bears a striking resemblance to adultery. The other is nowhere near adultery by any reasonable metric. Why, oh why, is this rocket science to some Christians!? Jesus did NOT impose any new restrictions on divorce. He made that very clear Himself at Matthew 5:17-18 and Luke 16:17. Yet, these people continue to persist in their Orwellian attempts to evade these simple truths to prop up the marriage permanence heresy.

Sound doctrine that cannot be condemned will prove inside and out from every precept that all remarriage is adultery (Genesis 2:23-25, Malachi 2:15, Job 32:8, Proverbs 30:5) The morals will prove it also, as the moral conviction, without sear, always agrees with sound doctrine (Titus 2:10). You vowed to be married till death, God maketh it 1, pay thou, and add thou not (Ecclesiastes 5:4-5, Proverbs 30:6) It is impossible to explain away a correct vow Ecclesiastes 5:6, Psalm 15:3-4, Ezekiel 18:5-6

(Mat 5:32,19:9, Lk 16:18, Mk 10:10-12) Paul: Till death (Rom 7:1-3, 1 Cor 7:39) Now you want to misuse and abuse Deut 24, and call Jesus a liar, even after the cross? He that is justified by Moses (a false interpretation of Moses at that) is at best fallen from grace (Gal 5:3-4)

If you are so certain that any and all remarriage after divorce is adultery, then answering these questions should be easy: (1) Was adultery lawful under the Mosaic Law? (2) If not, how do you explain Deut 24:1-4? (3) Was Esther an adulteress for her marriage to King Xerxes after he divorce Queen Vashti? (4) If not, when did remarriage become adultery? (5) Did Jesus abolish or restrict divorce even for serious cause? (6) If so, when did Heaven and Earth disappear? (Matt 5:17-18) (7) If Heaven and Earth disappeared, why wasn't I informed?

2:50 another false teacher, run don’t walk. The first 200 years of church fathers also agreed YOU CANNOT MARRY A DIVORCED PERSON AND IF DIVORCED YOU EITHER STAY SEPARATE OR RECONCILE (period).

Jordan needs to deal with his own failure of integrity. Jordan is a Frasier Crane wannabe. He is an entertainer not a psychologist. Because he sells books and videos and lectures, THAT IS NOT THERAPY. He needs to address his bad conduct in courts in the case of Case 1 Sordi v. Sordi, 2009 CanLII 80104 (ON SC) he defamed a parent in court. In the case 2 R. v. Pearce, 2012 MBQB 22 (CanLII) he tried to free a murderer. Then in the case Peterson v. College of Psychologists of Ontario, 2023 ONSC 4685, he tried to avoid taking responsibility. He also tried to interfere in a family court case in Montana, the Kolstadt case, where there was a GAG order, he unprofessionally diagnosed a minor without interviews or assessments, and tried to defend unfit parents.

Do you want to have a godly and lasting marriage? "You have to be willing to open up and speak in an intimate and vulnerable way." This is absolute truth right here.

"Openness, honesty, and transparency. Without these qualities, there can be no relationship" This is absolutely correct. A relationship is about connection. True connection can not occur if there are no intentional efforts being made to establish understanding each other's thoughts and feelings. If these things are hidden and buried it severs the connection and creates a division that both parties feel and suffer from. The eternal truth spoken by Christ informs us that "A house (or a relationship in this case) that is divided against itself can not stand" Thank you for this video, Marriage Ranger. This is high-quality content that can bless any marriage if they allow it to convict and instruct them towards loving and respecting one another. You are doing wonderful kingdom work here and I am grateful for the knowledge I have gained from you. You have been a real blessing to my marriage. 🙏
