We must look back at times to discover core belief systems. Looking back is necessary. I agree to not dwell on it but we do need to examine our lives.

Yes, ma'am. I did not deal with that in this video, but you are correct. Sometimes, we need to examine the past to learn where we went wrong. Thank you for commenting!

Thank you. Those are beautiful prophetic statements, indeed. I am restudying Isaiah, and things are becoming clearer.

This is the stupidest video one could make on this topic. First off, it relies on Jung, one of the chief fathers of modern psychotherapy. Jung was very keen on doing everything the speaker condemns. Yes, of course, there must be balance in therapy, and one shouldn't overindulge in obsessing about the past. But does that mean one should just forego it to focus on "the present and future goals"? Come on. The tree can only grow upwards by having his roots reach deeper. Then he calls on scripture and equates Jung's individuation with sanctification. Now this is so mistaken that it shouldn't even need commentary. Even Jung himself never pretended the two could be compared. You will learn nothing from this video. The guy just keeps repeating the same thing over and over again, never giving any valuable argument. The truth is: your therapist can make you worse, hell yeah, if there is something wrong with him or with your intention when going for therapy. Past present and future are interdependant and each has its own place in the process. Individuation is the process of becoming a full, matured individual. Sanctification is reaching union with God, thus transcending one's individuality. Someone whose individuation process is incomplete will surely find obstacles on his way to sanctification. Read Jung directly if you wanna know what he says, you'll find something way different and incomparably more profound.

I found your remarks to be curious. While you denigrate my attempt to connect Jung's concept of Individuation with the Biblical concept of sanctification, you also affirm my point for me. You said: "Individuation is the process of becoming a full, matured individual. Sanctification is reaching union with God, thus transcending one's individuality. " This is not bad. I would add that through maturity and personal growth, the Self is being conformed to the image of God and his Son. Thus, Individuation & santification are two sides of the same coin. One is stating our transformation from God's perspective and the other from the human perspective. I believe Jung's emphasis on psychological wholeness is a perspective that many believers would benefit from considering and applying to their walk with God. Anyway, thank you for watching.

@@marriageranger thanks for your answer and sorry for my harsh words. I was a little pissed as I kept watching waiting for an insight. So I hear what you say about individuation and sanctification being two sides of the same coin. That would be quite convenient. Unfortunately, it couldn't be further from the truth. For sanctification needs the participation of a transcendantal power, emanating from God and reaching the individual. I know Jung is very unclear about this. It is because he himself struggled with the distinction of the psychic realm and the spiritual realm. His falling away was in trying to reduce the spiritual to the psychological. It seems that he was aware of his error but couldn't rectify it. Anyway. Individuation as Jung puts it isn't growing into the Image of God. Not at all. It is a purely intra-psychic process. That you include the "collective unconscious" and "archetypes" changes nothing to the matter. Individuation happens within the psyche. Sanctification, by definition, is the transformation of the psyche through contact with the spiritual.

Massive, massive oversimplifications in this video. What did you think you’d get from an armchair pseudo-therapist UA-cam guru? The way this guy presents Jung is as if he was asked whether or not a glass is half full or half empty. Jung never said to not look into the past. Everything he pointed to was about coming to integration of opposites/conflicts - the mysterium coniunctionis. If someone is fixated on the past, their past should be attended to but they should also be encouraged to look at the present/future. Had to turn this off after about 3 minutes.

Thank you for commenting, but perhaps it would be better to watch more than three minutes of the video before disparaging the message. Of course, there is value in confronting and assimilating past traumas, but fixation upon trauma is destructive and contrary to growth. Jung believed in examining the ARCHETYPES and gaining deeper self-awareness from what has been repressed within the shadow self. The objective is to heal and restore what was lost. Obsessing over our trauma is utterly fruitless. May I suggest reading The Undiscovered Self or Modern Man in Search of a Soul?

@@marriageranger Lol. I’m a Jungian analyst. I’ve read virtually everything he wrote and am very familiar with how his approach to psyche worked. Your recommendations are great starting points. I disparaged after 3 minutes only because the first 3 minutes were so worthy of being disparaged. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@Field-gar If you’re watching a 9-minute video on how a car engine works, and the first 3 minutes are about how motor oil burns in order to make the propeller spin, and you continue watching . . . you just might be an idiot.
