    Will you have two fuel lines from the right fuel tank? Also a Maule fuel selector in order to comply with the fuel selector AD?

    • @Blaircraft.Engines
      @Blaircraft.Engines 6 днів тому

      Great question. My clipper actually had provisions for the right hand fuel tank, but only had one line for it. I believe for the time being, unless I change my mind after Oshkosh. I will leave it with just one line, I will make sure that I placard left-hand takeoff, landing or both tanks. I do have the Maule fuel selector that I will be installing.

    • @davebourdon3258
      @davebourdon3258 6 днів тому

      @@Blaircraft.Engines I actually took off with the right tank select and found out the hard way what the placard meant. My placard was not written correctly. Fortunately I got the plane safely back on the runway. My clipper, I believe actually came from the factory with wing tanks, as it was towards the end of the production line.

    Great video! I had a pretty large (1/4 scale) RC model of this airplane and I loved it. Felt like learning what the cockpit on a real one looked like so I found your video. At 4:43 it blew my mind to hear that the rear seat is for solo flying. Would you mind explaining why that is? Isn't it inconvenient, being farther from the indicators, front window etc?

    • @Blaircraft.Engines
      @Blaircraft.Engines 6 днів тому

      Thanks for your feedback. He rear solo due to center of gravity of the J3. You get very accustomed to flying from the back. I have actually taken a passenger and flown from the front seat which is definitely less comfortable.

    I'm curious, on the plane you passed on, what bothered you? Frankly the owner sounds a little shady....not wanting to be videoed...and then I got the impression YOU thought it was sketchy? I owned a Piper Tomahawk and obviously went through the buying process. Since I may be doing that with a local Clipper, I would appreciate your Top 5 or so things ABOUT the PA-16 to pay particular attention to when doing a Decision Inspection??? THANKS.

    • @Blaircraft.Engines

      I would look at the landing gear closely, does it still have the original header tank? A big one to really check closely on the clipper is the locking mechanism for the front bench seat. Look at the pin/ spring condition along they condition of the metal as it slides on for the airframe and the seat frame. I’ll think of some more and respond again later, currently still working late nights on my Clipper.

    GREAT VIDEO!! Well done/edited. Informative. I'm looking at a PA-16 right now to buy. Going back to the late 70's and early 1980's, there was a Clipper in San Diego that I use to see...and it had been for sale....LOVED the look. Price was $9000...too much for a kid. Wished I had bought it. MIGHT be getting one now, 40+ years later. LOL
