- Hear from the "The Cub Doctor" Clyde Smith, Jr. himself sharing about how he ended owning and now restoring the 1st Piper PA-16 Clipper ever built.
I had a chance to visit with Clyde at his shop in Lock Haven, PA when I picked up my new firewall for my PA-16 Clipper that I'm currently working on.
Stay tuned for the my Clipper upgrades and leave a comment for Clyde to encourage him throughout this process.
Stay safe and be blessed!

I’d love to see Clyde get this ready for the 75th Anniversary of the Clipper next summer… It’s possible, the last wing is the biggest hurdle left.
Nice story, very cool
Nice to meet you! Sweet planes!
It was nice to meet you as well! Quick question… Have you heard of the Cessna 336? I have an opportunity to get one. It’s a rare aircraft.
After a recommendation from Jason of rebuild rescue, I've subscribed to your channel and hit the notification button. Hope to see some great videos.
Awesome. Thanks for checking out the channel and following!
I’ll have a great video update on my Clipper in the next few days. Along with the runway later on. FYI- My Clipper will be one of a kind!
Enjoyed and great project.
Awesome vid and historian!
Were flying 16-161 and love it!, such a great performing aircraft
Awesome. Congrats on owning a PA-16 as well! 😎
Great Video!! Now, get on your excavator and get to pushing some trees!!! Ha Ha. I want to come in there some day!!
Yes… My PA-16 wings are off and more trees 🌳 are up! Other aircraft need attention, so much to do… 🙃 Thanks for the tree reminder!
Saludos desde Argentina !
Awesome video Josh! Clyde sure knows his stuff when it comes to Piper airplanes. 😁🤙🏼GREAT guy!
Thanks for sharing!
Really enjoyed this video! Clyde would have quite a following if he started a You Tube Channel! Good seeing you, Clyde!
Thanks for the comment. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to help and capture more of this great project!
A thing of beauty in the hands of a guru!
Yes. I’m excited to see it to completion! I hope to make it back to help the process along.
Hopefully this will inspire you to restore the wingtips on your airplane back to stock. Did you ask Clyde his opinion on the droop tips?
Yeah I mentioned the tips, he didn’t have any comments on them. I’d hate to add work/cost and I hear they’re better when in floats.
The two negatives…?
-requires rocking the wing for a better view due to less visibility.
-looks for some.
@@Blaircraft.Engines #3 More weight (nice video, great story)
Construction foremen watch out, this man has a ipad on a belt clip!
