@@Blaircraft.Engines I know many pilots who fly a pattern fit for a B52 in their Skyhawks..... maybe you'd best make a field able to accomodate a heavy Bomber...
Consider renting a larger machine with a bucket and thumb combination. You can push the big trees over while you have leverage. Then buck the stumps off. You can sort your saw logs off to the side and move the limbs and small trees out of the way. You can shorten your job way up! You will need an operator with experience to really make the most of your rental machine though!
Yes. A thumb with the bucket would be very helpful. I’m planning to get a couple guys to help on a big work day and use a crane that I have. It’s a 4x4 with a 50’ reach. I hope to pick them up and move them aside staying mostly in one spot. I’ll give this plan a go first since I have it. I agree, there’s a much faster way! If it’s going to happen in 2024, definitely need a more efficient way of doing things!
The fact that you are doing it is most of the battle! You will get it one way or the other! I have built airstrips in Oregon and Alaska and if I can help I will. Let me know if you just want to hear my two cents but either way you will get your runway built!
18:59 Get those bucket teeth fixed so the mounting points dont get damaged when doing the work. Replacement of the holders is pain in the ass i'm told. Also its loose but each joint still needs new grease. Treat her well and she will treat you well. When you are done with this project, fix the fuel tank and all around, she could use good paint job and sell her cheap to someone who struggles to find cheap good old machine like this.
Yes. I have a couple of teeth to weld on, need to see if I can work with my father-in-law for a generator to power the welder. Thanks for the reminder. I did grease everything whenever I did the cylinder work. Also, I agree a good paint job would be worthwhile as well!
Good day Sir, THat is Big Oak Tree 👍😇👌Maintenance is THE VITAL FACTOR on about anything 🧐👍👍Big Garfiel Cat 😇👍Keep Up Your OUTSTANDING WORK SIR and KEEP WARM TOO 👍😇👌Cheers 🍻🍻
Thanks for your feedback as always! Definitely glad to have the fuel issue resolved. Yes we quite the big Garfield cat 🐱! My wife said the same thing! Stay safe!
This tree happen to be right on the property line, did not want to make a huge hole to have to fill. So with the stump being that far over it will not be an issue on the runway.
Two questions. 1. Why didnt you have a logging company come and take out all the logs they could? 2. I think a bulldozer would have been a better choice?. Love your content BTW.
I have two neighbors that have saw mills that are purchasing the logs that are worth using. They would only cut at the stump and pay 1/2 the $, which definitely would create a lot more work trying to remove stumps alone. However perhaps I should reach out and find someone that can remove stumps as well, it would be worth getting only half price then. Also I do have access to a bulldozer that’s pretty decent, I could bring it over and see what’s more efficient. This is obviously my first time around at this type of work. Thanks for the feedback!
You might wanna make it a bit wider with that big old machine if we’re going to land the 401 there ! 😂🤣
Awesome job Brother !
Yeah. Maybe. I’ll start with 115’ wide 👍 I’d love to see it land there!

Love that you just cut Steven loose to play with the machine. Life is complicated, it'll be done when it's done and progress is progress. 🙂
Yeah it will it completed when time allows, planning a work day with help should be a huge help. Right now, the PA-16 is even more of a priority.
It’s look good!
Thanks!
Nice video
Thanks!

Great to see some progress mate :)
I look forward to landing on it.... in 2025?
Yes for 2025 👍
Looks like a detroit v4-53. 108-170hp depending on year.
I guess 150 to 200 horsepower wasn’t too bad if I guess! Thanks for your feedback. My guess it’s mid 70s that’s all I have for a year.
Why cut when you can PUSH

Yeah I think a D9 would make short work of those stumps!@@Blaircraft.Engines
Now I know why Planes Crash so much !
lol why’s that? Only the runway is a budget build here! Wait until you see the PA 16 Clipper…
Your should call a lumber buyer and sell the oak
My neighbor is purchasing the oak 👍
Next time get yourself a helicopter no runway needed
Yes. True. However, I would like aircraft that I work on to fly in, allowing working from my home hangar. 🤞
